my ps3 crashes atleast 4 times aweek while in gameplay but no yellow light yet! they did a firmware update last week but it has got worst since then, but the biggest problem is getting signed out from the playstation network all the time which did not happen on xbox

Well i hope watchdog are happy. It was some of the shoddiest reporting i have ever seen from a news program. Hell their own repair had only a 60% change of surviving the first week...
I think most of these PS3`s fail early because people hammer them, don`t keep them dust free or allow plenty of airflow around the unit. I`ve had mine ages and it runs perfectly.
I've had other consoles that had lasted, Original PSX/PS2 still working (Even my A500), it is about build quilty and the early PS3 didnt really stand up that well.
First 60Gb versions was fine, Its when they revised the hardware, cutting back on the cost of building them.
The new PS3 released in september should be a better build and design but only time will tell I guess.
£120 can now go a long way in getting an XBox 360 as an alternative replacement. My Ps3 YLODed a couple of months outside its warranty, and when asked to cough up the money I informed them I'd just go with their main competitor. They changed their tune rather quickly...
I've had 3 PS3s since they have been out, making a point about this to Sony's customer care helpline, I got both my PS3 fixed for free, one was 7 months old, and the other was just over a year old, Spending money on a product like this you expect at least 5 years before anything goes wrong.
My PS3 has had the yellow light of death for months now and I'm still debating whether to send it off and get a replacement or to fix the one I have by taking it to a private console repair company (which I imagine would break warranty)

Everyone is seriously over reacting to this. Stop being freaking fanboys. The main issue was charging for repairs. The YLoD is not common but the main issue was that repairs were expensive and repaired consoles broke again. The 360's RroD is well advertised in GAME shops and MSFT fix your console for free, thus the issue is customer service rather than the faulty products.
Hilarious. A report with no real basis on any real significant point or theme, that damns a console which they can't disrepute has a failure rate of less than one percent, and a "fix" for the system in which they brush over the fact that four of the eleven consoles they "fixed" broke again.
Well from experience, I've had a 60gb PS3, which YLOD on me before xmas, Sony...god bless em, sent me a refurb EVEN though my warranty had expired.
Within a month, the refurb blu-ray drive messed up, they took it for repair, fixed and sent it back and no word of a lie, yesterday i switched it on to boot up Rainbow Six 2 which i just got for a tenner....YLOD.
Phoned Sony, and all they can do is exchange it for £128.

cool vid, i also watch it on tv, purely because i got the ylod a few days before.
its weird aload of my mates 360's hve came up with the rrod in the past few weeks, i was thinking, ha xbox's are so much worse for breaking down than ps3's, then i heard of th ylod, then my ps3 got it, then watchdog does a show about it. stupid karma!

mitch ben probably wont do a song about the xbox red ring of death because watchdog have covered many story's about the xbox already for example the red ring of death and the xbox machine itself was making ring shaped scratches on the discs so they didn't work any more. if watchdog covered yet another xbox story viewers will complain because they have seen it so many times and want to see other storys

my ps3 crashes atleast 4 times aweek while in gameplay but no yellow light yet! they did a firmware update last week but it has got worst since then, but the biggest problem is getting signed out from the playstation network all the time which did not happen on xbox

I think most of these PS3`s fail early because people hammer them, don`t keep them dust free or allow plenty of airflow around the unit. I`ve had mine ages and it runs perfectly.

I've had other consoles that had lasted, Original PSX/PS2 still working (Even my A500), it is about build quilty and the early PS3 didnt really stand up that well.
First 60Gb versions was fine, Its when they revised the hardware, cutting back on the cost of building them.
The new PS3 released in september should be a better build and design but only time will tell I guess.

£120 can now go a long way in getting an XBox 360 as an alternative replacement. My Ps3 YLODed a couple of months outside its warranty, and when asked to cough up the money I informed them I'd just go with their main competitor. They changed their tune rather quickly...

I've had 3 PS3s since they have been out, making a point about this to Sony's customer care helpline, I got both my PS3 fixed for free, one was 7 months old, and the other was just over a year old, Spending money on a product like this you expect at least 5 years before anything goes wrong.

Everyone is seriously over reacting to this. Stop being freaking fanboys. The main issue was charging for repairs. The YLoD is not common but the main issue was that repairs were expensive and repaired consoles broke again. The 360's RroD is well advertised in GAME shops and MSFT fix your console for free, thus the issue is customer service rather than the faulty products.

Well from experience, I've had a 60gb PS3, which YLOD on me before xmas, Sony...god bless em, sent me a refurb EVEN though my warranty had expired.
Within a month, the refurb blu-ray drive messed up, they took it for repair, fixed and sent it back and no word of a lie, yesterday i switched it on to boot up Rainbow Six 2 which i just got for a tenner....YLOD.
Phoned Sony, and all they can do is exchange it for £128.
To say i'm pissed is an understatement.
Thats years of loyalty for ya.
