  • A semi square of what?

  • umm I assume you are asking about the material that goes on top of the sensors under the drum head.

With the left over material from making the mutes for the heads, you can cut out either a little square OR or semi circle about an inch in size to place on top of the sensor

  • QM sets are usually that sensitive without any mods so it doesnt really make a difference.

  • How did you got the muting pads?

  • read the first few comments I answer this question already. thanks

  • whats the diff between QM models and w/e...and how do u no which 1 u have...

  • look under the yellow and blue drums. if you see 3 holes on each head, then you have a qm set

  • I wish you would have shown the size and type of spring and grommet! But sweet if i figure out the best size spring and grommet I need this bad for my red pad especially!

  • why does the foot pedal make so many sounds?

  • at the time, mine had a switch under the footboard that triggered the bass notes and you were hearing the contact from the foot board to the switch. i think i uploaded another video showing my double bass set up I HAD but don't know. Check that out

  • HD!!!

  • not really. i just uploaded it in windows movie maker 720p format to have less compression on my video. NOT recorded with an HD camcorder though.

  • ohhhhh ok to tell u the truth i realy did´nt c a diference between the two

  • oh wow. on my viewing of the video, it doesn't look any different from when I uploaded so many months back, or a year back I should say. Hmm? Oh well.

  • Scanned the previous comments, could not find an answer to the question regarding the material you cut the pads out of. Very frustrating - it had to take as much time to tell people to read as to just post it. Wish I could take back my 5 stars.

  • I bought Vic Firth Drum Mute Pads. I say "Vic Firth" in the video but I don't state that they are mute pads. But, these comments do:

Rockaz13: where did you get your PADS?

    Spikbeatz: Sam Ash Music

anthonyrugo: how did you get the MUTE PADS...was it from scratch?

Tirskar: Just buy them from your local guitar center or somethin, just NORMAL DRUM MUTES.

spikbeatz: ditto. or sam ash. read 4th comment.

If I could somehow give you back your 5* rating, I would. I don't give a fuck.

  • can you please tell me what u cut out and put on the drums?

  • please read the previous comments. this gets answered. also its in the video. I'm sorry about the sound.

  • what did you cut out

  • read all the comments above yours, watch the video again. if you still figure it out, then I'll answer you.

  • I got different kind of pads, really similar, but I can't get them to stick to the drum pad, it keeps falling off, how good does the green tape hold up?

  • do you have an EL set? i have an el now and the masking tape for some reason doesn't want to stay put. it will for about 2 hrs then it starts to slide. my video is when i had a QM set so they never moved.

If not, you can try duct tape. I did that it just doesn't look as clean as the masking tape.

  • You said you have a QM

Does it matter what kind of set you have?

If it does, how can you find out what kind of set you have?

  • in this video yes it is a qm set. look under the yellow and blue drums. if you see 3 holes on each head, then you have a qm set.

for this type of mod, it is for a qm set. you can do something very similar to and EL set. But did not do it to my el set. I just put in new sensors and put the same pads you see here in this video on my new EL set.

  • so wait, it is safe to rip off the drum heads on the qm set on all of the drums???

  • yes just take it easy when doing it. dont just pull as hard as you can. Pull gently and it will come off. Use force but not like you are ripping something off you know?

  • yeah, thanks, i got it, but the hard part was gettin it back on haha, i got it though, but i think the sock mod is easier to do haha, i wish i had your set though, looks like it works pretty good

  • yeah it is harder but i would rather have it quieter and as good as the sock mod then have done sock mod.

I think that made sense? I don't have this set anymore. I have an EL set now with new sensors and the same mute pads.

  • i get what you mean, it makes sense. but i guess i am different, because i kind of like the noise that the drums make, haha, i think it helps with keeping your rhythm

  • yeah some people do i'm just not one of them. I really can't wait for the new drumset though. I like the cymbal add on and the velocity sensors now. Gonna be sweet to see vids with the new set.

Thanks for viewing dude and commenting.

  • yup anytime, thanks for the help. and do you know if rockband 2 is gonna let people make their own songs?? or is gh4 the only ones doing that?

  • GH4/GHWT, same thing is the only one so far to let you make your own songs. Rock will let you do like a photo shoot with your band and I think, dont quote me, but I think you'll be able to make your own music videos. Which i think is goin to be bad ass.

  • well, then i think that GH4 is gonna kick the shit out of rock band 2 haha, but making music videos seems very cool too, but i still think GH4 is gonna sell 4x the copies than rockband 2 just because you can download songs other people made for free

  • No they took the custom song making out because of the many bugs it had

  • yeah i haven't heard that news but dont matter, RB2 is reserved already, with the cymbals pack. As soon as I get my new HD camcorder, I'll be putting up new videos.

  • what did you cut out and put on top

  • So whats the aim with the mod, does it just move the sensor closer to the plastic that you hit with your sticks?, therefore making it more sensitive to hits?.

    Thanks for the help...

  • yes it makes them more sensative than when you first open up the box.

  • Gotcha, cheers dude. Seems simple enough to do, and I'm assuming theres some way to do this on all models?, somehow...

I'll just wait and see what model I get first!.

  • Cut out a 7 inch square?

  • How do you tell what kind of kit you have?

  • good video, if you could make a close up tutorial of what to do when you take off the orange bracket thing that would be cool too. good luck! and i like your drum set, it's cool.

  • ah nevermind that just got them off and i see the springs attached. Would a coin or sometihng work instead of the square? And what is the swuare made of? Not sure what you made the pad things out of.

  • so do you take the spring out then put in the square or put the square on top of the spring? a little mixed up on that bit

  • i like ur vid and all but play in a real song not practice cause when u hit hard it double hits and messes up ur combo so in practice i cant tell if ur keeping the multiplier up or not.

  • hey man how did u get the mute pads...was it from scratch?

  • Just buy them from your local guitar center or somethin, just normal drum mutes.

  • ditto. or sam ash. read the 4th comment above

  • does this work on the el model?

  • did you mod the pedal?

  • where did u get the pads from

  • sam ash music

  • Hey i dont see their products just some contests blablabla how do i do?

  • nice

    mod, =]

  • thanks
