  • this is an example of a tornadic fire whirl

  • I worked this fire. For at least a week the fire would build an immense weather system above the fire creating "clouds" of smoke. Around 1500 hours each day the system would collapse down on itself spreading the fire our on the ground. I was in the division covering this dry (at that time) lake. I witnessed grown trees uprooted that were thown on the ground. Makes no difference to me if there are people who think this weather system is not strong. I saw it at less that 70 yards.

  • This is the 2002 Missionary Ridge Fire outside of Durango Colorado. These are in fact tornadoes, created by the rotation of the plume. These tornadoes snapped of ponderosa pine stems several feet in diameter & toppled and set fire to vehicles parked in the "safe zone" in the dry lake bed of Vallecito reservoir. 1,706 fire fighters worked the fire. By the time the fire ended, it had consumed over 70,000 acres, destroyed 56 homes and had tragically claimed the life of one firefighter.

  • This is what the indians would call a "communications disruption"...

  • wow that tornado is weak as hell

  • If I were a Kamikaze pilot, I'd fly through that thing! There are many things you don't want to miss before you die and this is one of it!

  • wow

  • jesus fuck, poor trees

  • well you cant put that out

  • Does anyone know where these videos were shot?

  • I wonder if a tornado could spawn in an active volcano. I also wonder if a tornado could spawn in snowy areas and make a snow tornado.

  • it can in snow

  • a real mesocyclone!

  • That looks more like a lot of smoke.

  • oh my god taht is huge, and fast :( but great vid.

  • This probably formed a pyrocumulus which is a large cumulus cloud formed by the convection column on a wildfire. Usually when these form the convection column starts to rotate creating its own weather. The worst for wildfires. Pyrocumulus have even been known to produce lightning.

  • thats because your a redneck

  • You set your back yard on fire? O.o

  • i didn't even know this thing even exist. please upload more for viewing if u have any. thanks for uploading.

  • Wow. I love t-storms and anything meterologic, so even this (not weather-related) is fascinating as all get out to me!

    GREAT footage!!!

    ~LauraG.!

  • Wow take a look to the rotating updraft and inflow at the right!

  • holy sht!!!! i never seen a fire one

  • thats like a real storm!!

  • Its going to take more than 911

  • youre right

    912 would do it

  • LOL omg saw it :P

  • OMG, pause at 0:25.

You can see a fiery eye, & right below it, a smokey nose & near the ground the mouth!

Definitely a work of Satan, & judging by the look of it, he is very angry.

  • dude it looks like that tornado was goin towards them

  • Do you take all these videos, or just steal them from someone else?

  • Where's the debris cloud? Didn't see one. Can't classify any rotating mass a tornado until a debris cloud is visible at the ground. What's the date on this? Doubt SPC has a storm report on it.- Maybe, but does not in any way look like a tornado. Tornadoes are not the only things with Vortexes. Better read up on your science there buddy. Heated winds from the fire can create rotation in the smoke. That's all it is, simple as that.

  • Think of this as a thermal that you see birds circling around on a hot day or a dust devil, these are cousins of this type of vortex. This is not a tornado, landspout or waterspout.

  • i dont think its smoke, smoke would be much grayer and i dont think it could make a fuckin rotation and start a fuckin fire,MAN THIS IS KINDA LIKE A TORNADOE BUT ONLY IT CAUSE FIRES..........i never seen that kind of tornadoe in my life till now,if u think its smoke go ahead and jump in, enjoy being killed...5 star for this vid.

  • that was a horrible rant...

  • ........holy shit

  • ino that does look like smoke

  • Are you sure thats a tornadoe to me its just smoke

  • It IS a tornado, people. Go and watch part 1... >.> the vortex appears...

  • This isn't a tornado. It's just a cloud of smoke brought into rotation by thermal winds from the fire. Not even in the same ballpark.

  • Its a vast mass of quickly rotating air, that qualifies it as a tornado to me.

  • who cares it's beautiful

  • hahah there u go again griz!

  • A fire whirl can make fires more dangerous, an extreme example is the 1923 Great Kantō earthquake in Japan which ignited a large city sized firestorm and produced a gigantic fire whirl that killed 38,000 in fifteen minutes in the Hifukusho-Ato region of Tokyo.[1]

  • good 'ol wikipedia

  • Not a tornado. The person who said theyd be impressed when it rips pine trees out of the ground dont hold your breath. ITS NOT A TORNADO, IT WONT EVEN PICK UP A CORN STALK

  • It caused f3-like damage.

  • presstelegram*com*news*ci_6229385

Theres proof for all of you non-beilevers. It is no doubt a really cool picture, but its not a tornado. Its the same thing that happens when your in the middle of a field and on a bright sunny day a dust devil appears. There is actually videos of kids jumping in them and playing in them in Africa. Its not caused by the clouds and weather conditions, that was caused from an updraft of wind and smoke

  • then why don't you jump in that and I'll watch you burn to death?

  • Hmm, I'm not convinced that's a tornado...looks more like the way the wind was blowing the smoke just gave the illusion of one. Pretty amazing footage though, which fire was this?

  • thats awsome

  • Thats fake, thats smoke

  • its not fake man

  • yes it is smoke, but the fire creates an updraft as heat rises and the wind and other factors come in to play making it a tornado.

  • If I was there I would be on fire and I would still watch. XD

  • what isn't that just smoke

  • Holy fuck

  • ENIGMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • firewhirl lives!!!

  • It's erotic.

  • THAT WAS DONEROUS!

  • I've never beleived that a tornado would catch on fire. Wow. THat's very scary. FUCKIN SCARY SHIT I WUDN't WANNA BE IN IT!

  • I've never heard of this happening before, I guess we learn something new every day. Thanks for the amazing video.

  • my town is on fire as we speak hope this dosent happen.......

  • satan was on vacation and he wanted a little of 'home' to bring with him

  • satan farted

  • dude wtf look at all that smoke

  • fucken forest fire and a tornado

  • amazing...the wrath of mother nature is just amazing

  • the lord hates us...

  • I have to say that is mighty impressive.

  • IMAGINE IF U WERE IN THAT!

  • that's fucking scary as hell

  • call it the perfect storm

  • as the smoke rises, the heat makes it go up in a circular motion.

  • how the hell does it do that? thats soo awesome.

  • coooooooooool! fire plus tornado= :)
