Great job!.....Great Hobby!....This tradition is spreading around the world like fire...My brother has pigeons which fly 10 to 15 hrs per day--once in week. They stay up in sky for 10 hrs minimum. They are special breeds. We brought them from Pakistan.

Nice thing promoting the sport. I am a fancier to. Its to bad the sport is almost dead. I'm am from belgium. We started the sport 150years ago. But it is getting really small the last years. (maybe 5000 pigeons in a real big race)

Pigeon racing is very expensive.. feed, grit, medicines, bands, etc.. all expensive. That's not even mentioning club dues, etc. It cost's money to ship the birds out to races, and most clubs have membership/club dues . You also need to train the birds very often, gas is not cheap. The average toss for us, is roughly 40 - 70mi one way.. And you can't really carry the birds in a car, you need a truck.

How do you race them against other people if they are trained to just go to one place?

@Tippet76 Every loft has its own distance calculated to the race point. When the bird clocks, its speed is figured in yards per minute. Each bird is listed that way so you can tell who's fastest. Also, there's a system built in so I can allow time for your bird to get to your loft if it's farther than mine. If it beats mine, you win, if not, I do.
