He was filmed in Ice Castles at my sister's Junior High and my sister was an extra in it, I had a childhood crush on him then, sooo my sister got his autograph for me I think I was 11 at the time :o) My sister said he was very soft spoken, kind and sort of shy.

The big thing in the 60s was the long hair. He may have been a little post-60s, but not by much I don't think. It took me forever to get used to men not having long hair after the 60s. Hard for me to adjust to not having the mini-skirts too. They were so in then. A girl was really out without a mini, and men were old or dorky with out long hair in the 60s.
I, too, grew up watching Robby Benson... and really thought he was the greatest, and I wondered what ever happened to him. "Ode To Billy Joe" is definitely one of my favorite movies of all time. I'm happy to see him here... he looks really good... different, yes... but I'm glad he didn't turn into a latter-day freak like so many young actors. He seems really REAL, still! And I think that's what made him so special "back then"; you could tell he was probably really like the people he portrayed.
I liked your comment, here I grew up watching him also. and I find him compelling and refreshing, he has been married along time. works behind the scenes. and is just what appears to be a normal guy, what ever that means. His heart problem he was born with, likley kept him away from drugs. and two operations on his heart in his lifetime have kept him humble. I just found beauty and the beast for the first time, and I enjoyed it so much when I heard his voice. I had to come check out you tube.
His voice goes right through me. Velvet is a very good word for a Beautiful person inside and out.

OMG THAT'S ROBBY BENSON???? I didn't recognize him! Tho his voice sounds the same but holy shit what's with the long hair? I've NEVER seen him like that....He looks healthy tho and I always knew he'd do more advanced stuff in acting and directing. He's a very talented guy!
