Delay and Reverb. The guitar itself has a Piezo pickup system on the bridge, which generates the acoustic guitar sound. There were 18 of these guitars made, and i happen to own one. I am selling mine if someone is interested. Check out my newest vid "For sale"

@grk441 I'm sure they do. I know Parker Guitars has a similar piezo system implemented in their guitars, but they're fuck ugly and expensive as hell. Probably way more expensive than this model ever was in 1999-2000. A lot of luthiers are trying to modify the model RG1527 and RG1527M by basically hot gluing the pickups to the bridge and re-wiring them. It actually doesn't sound half bad.

easier thing is to buy a piezo bridge, these day's they're decently priced. that ibanez was a limited model already back then and is a serious rarity these days.

ususally the piezo bridges come with a blend switch, it's a 3-way switch that goes piezo/piezo&pickups/pickups. however, because the piezos are passive you can't use the blend with active pickups, and therefore you need 2 jacks, but if you have passive pup's you don't need two jacks. find more stuff with google.

I think there's 2 chords into his guitar rather than 1. Look at :43 where the input jack is, there's 2 cables. I guess 1 cable for clean and the other for dist.

i don't think its an overdrive switch, he does that to get a cleaner tone with the pickups and the overdrive its from his head amp so he has to changed it with a normal footswitch, Matt Bellamy does have a fuzz factory and a mxr phase 90 inside his guitar

he has got a guitar with magnetic and a piezo pickup^^ if you look closely youll see his guitar has got two output cables - one with the signal of the magnetic pickups for the AMP with distortion and one with the piezo pickup for the PA without any FX making the acoustic sound

I have an ibanez rg1820x, & it has the exact same LR baggs piezo sensors as the CST-7.

It sounds NOTHING like that unless you use a delay/reverb pedal. If you watch that video, he does a single strum & says something like "ah isn't that beautiful"?. No "echo" on that bit, because he hasn't got his foot on the FX!!

Also when he flicks it to the magnetic pickups, they don't have inbuilt distortion....but there's definitely distorion on that guitar!!.

So that bit alone least proves he's using a FX pedal, becasue he say's there is no digital FX on the AMP.

First he does not say there is no FX on the amp, he says that he is not using additional FX just amp.

Second look at the Jacks on the guitar, you will notice two leads coming out which means he is running two amps, an educated guess says he is running a modified Triple rec on the magnetic side which is perfectly capable of the distortion and a Roland AC-60 on the piezo side.

Also in response to your previous post re the pickup sound. You hit the foot switch that controls the effects in the amp, the Roland AC-60 for example has a choice of Reverb or Delay and Chorus which can be switched on or off with the optional foot switch.

He's using analogue footpedals, almost 100% guaranteed ;-)

I just looked it up and the amp sitting behind him is either one of his Triple recs or dual rectifiers, he used a JC-120 for his acoustic parts which has more effects than an AC-60 but as you can not see the second amp in the vid I can not be sure what it is. Still all the tones in the vid can be achieved with the inbuilt effects in the amps he is using.
