What happens to you if you were raised to love God and Jesus and were a devoted follower and got baptized at 12 but then things got to be too much for you and you tried to kill yourself for the first time at 16 and many more times up until age 23 and now you are just someone who doesn't go to Church because you find the environments too condemning and judgemental and you don't read your Bible and you don't pray anymore (except when you are at your wits end) but you still believe in Jesus..?

I meant horrid people who profess their love for God, go to church, pray fanatically, show disdain to anyone out side their religious groups and use their bibles to point out everyone's faults but their own. I have known people like this. According to some Christians, because they believe these people will go to heaven but agnostics like me will go to hell because though I try to do good, I don't really accept the bible Jesus as "my lord and saviour".

Jesus didn't "die". He went back to "heaven". He "died" knowing he was to return to "heaven". Not much of a sacrifice. I believe there is something out there but I feel it's more scientific like an alien intelligence. It's science we yet do not understand. Maybe life is a matrix of some sort and when we die in this experience we wake up in the "real" world. I believe in a spiritual being but not the bible "God".

Anyone can be saved , if they are faithful , and repentant . Think of the theif on the cross, in his absolute last moments he was saved , but its good to not wait because we dont know how long we have : )
It is so true. The peace I have now after being saved is awesome. I do not worry about money and matierial items anymore. I worry about other people. Stories like these just make me feel great. I can only say that the Baptist church I attend sees itself as serving God and man, not evil. The Old Testament contains around 39 books divided into Law, History, Poems, Major and Minor Prophets. If you accept Jesus in your heart and forgive others, then you also are forgiven for ALL sin. His holy spirit will enter into you and you are saved. If you then walk a life of sin, you are still saved. However, you are in a bad relationship with God. Much like how a parent always loves their children no matter what they do. They can still be in a bad relationship and still be loved. Makes sense? Jesus will always be in that person no matter what. You are saved by grace not works.

One thing I never understood, if God created us....and he's "all loving" why on earth would he want us to worship him? Wouldn't he want us to do the opposite? I tried it. For seven years. I really wanted to believe that there was a god. I read the Bible, I went to church every week, I prayed twice a day, morning and night. I believe Christians when they say that they feel that warmth- It's a psychologically-documented experience that people have, although whether it's proof of god is another matter. But I never felt it, and that's something that Christians don't understand. My instincts always told me that no one was listening.

If you ask him to come to you, thinking that you're better than most people, chances are nothing will happen. How can you be a christian, and rely on instinct alone? He knows your heart and if you were coming at him with a hostile one, he will not receive you. God is not mocked. I assure you he IS real and he is what he is and not what we want to MAKE HIM INTO. It's just that he never communicated with me in any way. When I prayed, I never felt like anyone was listening to me. And naturally, I blamed myself, for years and years. I tried to be a better Christian, but he never answered. And one day, I realised why: he doesn't exist.

I was born with the gift of seeing ghosts since I was a kid, sometimes I can see the deaths of family members. I think it was passed down from my mom's side, since my grandma can predict earth quakes. From my personal experiences, heaven is real, angels are real, demons are real, and God exists. I'm not really a hardcore religious person but from personal experience, I can tell you all that it is real. But I also believe in evolution and that God made human beings through a complex process.

The Original language that Scripture was written in speaks of no such place as hell. Jesus didn't "die". He went back to "heaven". He "died" knowing he was to return to "heaven". Not much of a sacrifice. I believe there is something out there but I feel it's more scientific like an alien intelligence. It's science we yet do not understand. And if any person is causing suffering because of what they read in the bible, then they are seriously mis-interpreting it. I can only say that the Baptist church I attend sees itself as serving God and man, not evil. The Old Testament contains around 39 books divided into Law, History, Poems, Major and Minor Prophets. It would be unwise to take it out of context.

If you accept Jesus in your heart and forgive others, then you also are forgiven for ALL sin. His holy spirit will enter into you and you are saved. If you then walk a life of sin, you are still saved. However, you are in a bad relationship with God. Much like how a parent always loves their children no matter what they do. They can still be in a bad relationship and still be loved. Makes sense? Jesus will always be in that person no matter what. You are saved by grace not works.

One thing I never understood, if God created us....and he's "all loving" why on earth would he want us to worship him? Wouldn't he want us to do the opposite? To not bog ourselves down with such ridiculousness? I know if I created life, I couldn't care less if they worshiped me, I'd want them to do their thing and just observe. If God is real, he doesn't care.

I believe Christians when they say that they feel that warmth- It's a psychologically-documented experience that people have, although whether it's proof of god is another matter. I was born with the gift of seeing ghosts since I was a kid, sometimes I can see the deaths of family members. I think it was passed down from my mom's side, since my grandma can predict earth quakes. From my personal experiences, heaven is real, angels are real, demons are real, and God exists. I'm not really a hardcore religious person but from personal experience, I can tell you all that it is real. But I also believe in evolution and that God made human beings through a complex process.

Well I don't belive in an afterlife. Every religion has different beliefs, they can't all be true. And to think just one is true is very ignorant. Also, I'm a good person, I treat people right and help people where I can, and if their is an afterlife and God determines I deserve eternal damnation because I don't belive in something I can't see, then to be frank, he's not the sort of person I wish to spend eternity with. NO ware is the New Testament does it say for a sinner to say a prayer to be saved! It seas to Repent, believe in the gospel (of Jesus Christ) and be (obey the gospel) baptized which is obedience to the gospel and the means upon which ones calls upon the name of the Lord to be saved! (The sinners prayer is a false gospel!) One calls upon the name of the Lord at baptism!

Which is to believe in the shed blood, death, barrel and resurrection of Jesus Christ ALONE as full payment for ones sin debt (Which is grace ALONE!)

The Original language that Scripture was written in speaks of no such place as hell. In the old testament there is one word that was mistranslated purposely and that word is Sheol and Sheol means "the Grave" or Pit. In the New Testament there are three words that was purposely mistranslated and they are "Gehenna" ( Vally of Hennom) "Tartarus" (The Place where the four angels are kept under the river Euphrates) , and "Hades" ( Greek equivalent of the Hebrew word Sheol which is the grave).

@05yousufm Yes - I totally agree! Jesus was a hu-man who came to know his Divinity. You and I and all other consciousnesses are linked in God - our own Divine nature - the human is unreal - but the part of you that is real is not of this world. Hate to sound all preachy with just stating concepts. I believe all this because I had an experience when I was reading the Course - and I know for certain this world is not real.

If it is all just an idea, and if our biggest, perhaps only obstacle is our own stinkin' thinkin'....I believe the mind training of a Course In Miracles is the true handbook to salvation.
It's reasonable, unlike the Bible (sorry) and it works. Love and forgive.
Bottom line? Take responsibility for everything, for your world. Don't get mad or sad. Just forgive and then...
fall in Love!

If there is a New Year's resolution you do, please make the most important one to trust in Jesus and His Love for you...all you have to do is invite Him in to your heart; it took much for this scientist/atheist to share this two part story of his..I feel that it is a job well done and will help many who do not believe in God in any fashion..I have always had an open mind about all the other avatars like Buddha, etc.,.it is belief in God that is essential here to me no matter what path you take.

Why would the devil punish sinners, hell makes no sense, why would we be judged and cast into hell or heaven for eternity for the actions and choices we make in one short 70 year span.. makes no sense, what about all of the other religions that don't follow jesus...it's all hog wash.

@northpappyflappy haha - good points, all of them.Why WOULD the devil punish sinners? What if the way to salvation is through the "Christ Mind" or Higher Self, or Divine Awareness, that is in us all. You know when you are in that state of mind - you are in love, there is no thought for tomorrow or yesterday, it's all just now....and it is Home.
Try looking at A Course In Miracles sometime. It was the first one that made sense to me.
I needed it all to make sense.
