Mr Brian Ferry has the most wonderful voice. I have been a fan for many many years of the cutting edge stuff that Roxy Music have done. I grew up listening to them. Their music in some way touches your soul like few artists can do
This track is The Daddy of all Roxy Music tracks. Anybody listening to it for the first time should fall to their knees and worship, whoever it is they worship, and give thanks for this song!!
@Graphicals he needs to quit being 007 he dosent suit the role.no offence but his bond films should be like roger moore adding funny lines & charm in to it like brosnan.
@chicksdigsme He is a good Bond. He is a MODERN Bond. You think it's as easy as Connery or Moore make it look? Probably not. He actually looks like he is trying to dodge bullets they just walk all suave like and shoot the bad guys with poise and style. Don't get me wrong I love the older films a lot more but I dislike how people hate on him.
@CampbellsShutup the more i watch casino royale & quantum of solace i try very hard to enjoy but always end up thinking these are just action films entertaining but where was bond LOL..i hope they dont mess with skyfall 2012 ..btw i love timothy dalton james bond he was highly underrated but i love livind day lights & licence to kill...craig gets overpraised which is bad.
@chicksdigsme I came here cause of Flashbacks of a Fool. I loved that movie. One of the best of Craig's movies I have seen. It changed my outlook on life, love, and the way I treat people. Right now I am trying to make others life better but it's not going well. So fucked in money :/
@CampbellsShutup go to imdb & see some reviews alot of people dont like this film..the rap song in the end was so funny fuck that fuck that fuck this LOL..
i bought a single dvd named best of daneil craig & this one was one of the films..
@chicksdigsme shows how much you know about bond, daniel craig is what ian fleming wanted James Bond to be like, much darker and sinister, not cheesy like shitty roger moore
@arsepirate90 craig is like jason bourne(matt damon) & steven segal..where dalton was badass without showing too much craziness & killing everyone .craig is getting bad scripts & lees character development .they added too much voilence in it & thats why many people are loving it..but brutality is not a bond characteristic .dont get me wrong i have craig bond films ..i like it as its full of action
Here's an idea-considering that this album is pretty much timelessly, ahead of it's time,,er,.uhm'..wouldnt you think that since everyone in RM is STILL fucking alive that there would be no harm in diggin' up Eno, bring in E.J.and Wetton .and tour the ORIGINAL Roxy?-and make it special to the brilliant 1st 5 albums?-it sure as heck isn't a step backwards when the music still blows EVERYTHING today out of the fucking water..what the hell else you guy's doing?-LET'S GO!
@ModifiedEvelyn If you cannot admit how talented Elvis is then you are a complete idiot! Should I like Bryan any less because he was in love with that airheaded twit Jerry Hall? My three favorites have been Roxy, the Jam and Elvis for a long time so you can screw off!
@ModifiedEvelyn A few years after Roxy came, Elvis Costello started his career with six amazing albums. The Clash also started with five straight winners. But in their shared heyday, Bowie and Roxy Music ruled the glam scene in terms of talent and style.
Lots of people overlook Roxy Music even though they were one of the most brilliant bands of all time. Their sound was a decade ahead of it's time. Their music and Eno's own solo work changed the trajectory of rock years after they debuted.
sorry to comment for a 3rd time, I' m just excited that I found this. I seen the movie like almost a year ago, I loved it, then I heard this song, &'nnd had to know what it was, yes I am very late, but I didn' t hear the begining. all this time, I found this song. I just thought it wasn' t it because the first 2 mins were not in the movie! but I LOVE THIS SONG!
okay so I got this song frm Flash backs of a fool, but it wasn' t exactly this song, it was more sadder! maybe I have to listen further, but am I @the right song?
@amofromun Back in 1973 I got into Roxy Music after reading about them in Melody Maker. In the states at that time they were not very popular, the same with SAHB. Roxy were just something out of this world to me and still are in many ways.
I'd never heard of this song until I watched Flashbacks of a fool... now it's one of my favourite songs ever. I absolutely love it. Roxy Music seem to be a forgotten band, respected but not celebrated like others from the era. One of the most underrated bands and films ever.
Have to love Ferry's shameless habit of putting his current shag on every album cover (a different woman every time, naturally). Would be revolting from anyone else, but he gets away with it.
@drogheda1966 I think zoobeedoo09 was trying to be funny. The song mentions offering roses and potatoes. I don't think any woman in the world would take a potato over a rose, which is why the comment is funny.
Everytime when I'm tired of my weak and difficult life I'm listening to this song. It brings to me a wonderfull memories about my childchood, old friends and love. What a beautiful feeling...
I bought this LP when it came out, on the strength of hearing this song on John Peel's radio show.....to me, it's still the most wonderful evocation of that time, and I maintain that the song is as good today as it's always been.
What I don't understand is....how can 25 people not love this song?
The film is absolute rubbish apart from the young actors who are brilliant, The last scene is so over acted, where did they learn acting??? sooo tacky. Shame, the adults ruined the film. Middle class English people at itheir worst.
yup.. me too, when one of the blokes in my class brought Roxy's first album into school, I just knew it was something very special. Defined my adolescence and our time. Beyond words....
I'm watching Flashbacks of a Fool now, (and isn't it awful....?) and wondered what this song was. Googled the lyrics. I realised that I did know it - but just haven;t listened to the album for yonks! Must be perhaps 30 years! :-o Good to remind myself. Have to get the CD - only got it on vinyl. Funny thing is on the TV it didn't sound like Ferry singing.
I've known about this song since I was 16 and I am 17 right now... All of last summer when I stayed away from home I would wake up to this song every morning and it made me feel comfortable although I still wanted to go home the whole time I was away. Either way great song. I had a year to hear to all of Roxy Music's single. Such great artists. I know not to expect to ever seem them on tv but it is still something I wish I could see. Oh well.
this song is so long but anytime I start to listen to it I have to finish listening to the whole thing. Bryan Ferry was the ultimate eccentric love sick, lounge crooner.
I don't even know why this song has such an effect on me, I too first heard it when I saw Flashbacks of a Fool as a late night movie a few weeks ago.. makes me really nostalgic and sad, although I'm only 18.
Shake your hair girl with the pony tail, takes me right back... Seeing the film and hearing that song for the first time, took me right back. The pain of spent youth... I'm sure this song brought alot of things back for many! At least we lived eh? :-)
Shake your hair girl with the pony tail tail, takes me right back..... Seeing the film and hearing that song for the first time! Certainly takes me back and the pain of spent youth. I'm sure it did that for many who heard it.. At least we lived eh? :-)
I just saw Flashbacks of a Fool, heard this song for the first time. It made me cry, all the stuff about remembering your youth, letting go of the past
My favorite line is: "Threw your precious gifts into the air / watched them fall down / when you were young..." What a BRILLIANT expression of wasting your youth because you couldn't know how fleeting it is. You think you'll be young, energetic and beautiful forever. You thought there'd be a lifetime of magic ahead but you were wrong. It's a sad day when the truth hits you; when you feel the pain of regret over lost chances.
So this song starts ouTS= silly-- but i stayed the course--- Cause some one posted to stay tune after 1:40--- so i did--and heAVEN WALKED IN!!-- GIVe THIS SONG=A CHANCE--
When I was a lad I used to scream this song on my gang-mower tractor while mowing many acres. I'm still poked in the tavern to this day over the shennanigans, but never was there a finer day. True Story, Jay Allen Emerson
this song is magnificently magical.

When I was a lad I used to scream this song on my gang-mower tractor while mowing many acres. I'm still poked in the tavern to this day over the shennanigans, but never was there a finer day. True Story, Jay Allen Emerson

If I had to listen to the entire thing form the start just to get to 5:05 it'd be worth it every time: best part of the song

I agree with the top post--It's a bit kitschy but after 1:40, God bless Andy Mackay and Eno!

I just watched Flashbacks of a Fool with this song featured. Never even heard of this band until just now. Wow, what a tune!
