  • I skeptical of these results.

    Was it a truly randomized design experiment? or where the people assigned to vote at schools also people who lived close to schools and more likely to have children attending those schools, and hence more likely to be in favour of pro-education policy.

    My experience as a statistician is that there is a huge amount of dodgy statistics going on in the social sciences.

  • I checked the paper in the PNAS. PM me if you cannot find it and want to read it. They controlled for your suspected bias, to my judgment sufficiently and at a not a so thorough reading the results seem pretty sound.

    Although the sample size was quite big, for a study that makes claims for voting in general I would like to see longitudinal studies conducted.
