If you only tell a child like Connie how amazing she is, without a balance, she may grow up to be a stuck-up person who can't accept criticism. Or she'll hear a hater and get very hurt, because it's so foreign. She missed at least three notes, not that it matters at all at her age. I think Simon knew what he was doing and he said it gently.
