I got my cat when he was 6 months old from a couple who had a 2 year old, so you know how kids at that age when picking up an animal. Thus, my cat HATES being picked up and when I do get a hold of him, will only let me hold him for less than 5 minutes. My point being, when every my cat scratches me, or tries to bite me, I threaten him with a hug. I put my arms out and say "Who's getting a hug?" and off he goes
