It IS offensive to all non-Christians be they religious or not. Everyone is free to pray individually or in groups if they so choose, it is illegal CONSTITUTIONALLY for such a prayer to be an official part of the proceedings. It sounds to me like some of these persons of faith are spoiling for a fight. Well, they're going to get one.
"When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men... But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen."
OK, how is it that God is so damn worried about some hicksvile southern football game, but isn't worried about the thousands of children who die from starvation daily? Oh, I forgot, this is the same god who told the Israelites to commit genocide, take slaves, murder rape victims if no one hears them scream, and kill those that are different.
