There is nothing wrong with people who try to save the animals and respect them. What I dont agree with is places like sea world and circus that abuse these animals. These monks respect the tiger and are doing what they can to help them.In buddhism they do not seek material possessions. They never take more then what is needed. I have been to buddhists temples and they live a life of prosperity with very little material possessions.

Yes, tigers sleep during the heat of the day. They are not, however, incapable of waking up, as many of the tigers at the temple are. If tigers slept so deeply, as one tourist commented on, that they could not feel themselves being dragged around by the throat, the species would be extinct in the wild. It is also correct, that a sedated animal can be dangerous, but give the animal enough sedative and they are completely helpless and out cold.

I've been there and filmed for a television show for Animal Planet that helped expose the so called abbots for what they are doing. The Tigers are systematically abused and exploited for the benefit of misinformed tourists. By paying money to see these poor tigers you are personally helping to enslave them. I havent been there, but I have done research, it's a fact that tigers dissappear from there and never return and it's a fact that they no longer uphold their original purpose, breeding tiger with no plan for the cubs future, and that there is a plan to move them to a more suitable place, do you really think they don't put on a show or a cover up for all the volunteers and visitors. if the temple has problems housing and caring for the tigers they should prevent any further breeding instead of adding to the problem. Money spent on raising new cubs could be put towards giving the existing tigers appropriate enclosures, not the empty concrete boxes they are forced to live in. They are not licenced to breed tigers so what they are doing is illegal. None of the cubs can be rehabilitated back into the wild as they are hopelessly imprinted so this is not viable conservation.

They would be better in the sanctuary rather than the wild...the tiger is very rare in Thailand because of poachers...they are in a much safer place there.

I love animals and just couldn't miss the opportunity of petting a tiger in Thailand. What I saw at the Tiger Temple made almost made me cry. This temple is a hoax, and the tigers are clearly only there for the amusement of tourists. I strongly suspect them of being sedated. I encourage everyone NOT to visit the Tiger Temple, since capitalism seems to be the drive of this institution!
