This was the best song ever song on American Idol (which I don't watch anymore). Have you noticed that every since Elliott sang this song, their have been alot of people singing it. Remember Chris Richardson, he sang several of the same songs Elliott did. He wanted to be cool like Elliott...lol..Sorry Chris there's only one Elliott.

wrong on both accounts he was season 5, the year that clownish Taylor Hicks. Simon had it right about TH and America had it so wrong. The problem was Taylor picked songs that the "average" American really knew and loved whereas Elliot picked songs that people who enjoy Soul music love. Simon called it early on when he said how great Elliot was but that he will never win AI "singing a song like that" he made a similar comment when he sang Moody's mood For Love

Elliott was great, but by far I still prefer Karen Carpenter's pure interpretation of this song. Karen's voice was called bland by some because she didn't attempt vocal acrobatics or overstyling as Yamin did here. It's that so-called "bland" that I loved. Karen's voice was beautiful in its purity. Her phrasing was so natural and perfect it might sound "bland" to the ear that wants Whitney. Again - just my preference. Elliott is a fantastic singer.

This was the classiest season of Idol IMO. Katherine and Paris were amazing at the standards ( If Paris would have stayed Jazzy she would have been great), Elliot has an amazing contemporary voice and Daughtry has a great classic rock voice. They were all amazing technical singers!

Elliot's up there as one of my fave AIdol alumni ever! Season5 is the best in terms of song choices and performances. I remember watching the final three, all three finalists getting an equal share of 33% of the votes. He lost to McPhee & Hicks by just a few points. But hey, look where it landed him! Don't need titles to get success. Am so proud of him! The fact that the him performing with one ear partially deaf, this guy's seriously amazing!!! Been a fan from day one!

This season was the best by far. I love kelly clarkson from season one but Elliot is the best discovery by far from american idol. Amazing voice. I havent watched the last three they have slacked off and now its just a teenybopper moment kind of show where talent is on the backburner to looks.
