FFVII should not be remade because they'll be cheap like with every other remake and they will change shit in the plot and dialogue and minor details rather than strictly upgrading music and graphics.

Not to mention the way the Japanese think black characters are for comic relief... Here's a fun challenge: play through FFXIII and note down every time Sazh is insulted, disrespected, invalidated, or exploited for a cheap laugh during the plot. It'll open your eyes to Japanese racism...

To be honest, I dont think Sazh was a racially motivated comic relief. It had a lot to do with him being slightly older. He does seem like an "eddie murphy" archetype though. As for Cid,you can interpret his dialect to be redneck or it can be interpreted in other ways. I always gave him a gritty, perpetually slighted and disgrunted "classic American" tough guy voice.

actually there has been recent news that ff7 is still going to be remade,its just right now their current projects,they are awfully occupied right now,the producer of ff7 ps1 said that he has recodnized the desire and need for a remake and he knows just how it should be done,just not now,after his current projects :)

I don't think so, if they changed the battle systme to be something along the lines of Kingdom Hearts it would loose part of what Final Fantasy is and ruin the unique magic of the games logic and strategy based game play.

Actually, Final Fantasy VII Director Yoshinori Kitase said that there IS a possibility of a remake. Nothing is planned, and in order for that to happen all the original creators have to come back together. So don't rule it out just yet! And I have to say, I don't like MMO's, and there are many, many other people who still look for good RPG's. You talk like it's dead or something. It's FAR from that.

Ya I was expecting FF VII AC Complete on Blu-ray, but that didn't happen either. Anyway Square has become less reliable as of late. FFXIII going multi-plat, Star Ocean 4 a 360 exclusive, Last Remnant a timed exclusive. It's not like I hate the 360 I just don't own one and most of these are a stab in the back for me :(

Maybe it didn't come out right, but I meant that for PS3 owners they haven't been the most reliable company(as of late), when it comes to making games for them. Multi-platform has become the smarter decision nowadays due to high development costs and that does tend to lead to a higher revenue for them, but I'm talking about a gamer's perspective not a company's. Some people do buy consoles expecting certain games to come out for them, but when they don't then it's like "wtf did I buy this for?"

They will prbably remake it at some point but they want the original team that worked on it back together but with all of the projects the SE has going on expect any formal announcement after Versus XIII.
Don't get me wrong on this, but FFVII is popular enough. A remake would be #)(*^@*# awesome, but I'm sure that I'm not alone when I say there are better games to remake. Games that need more attention should be remade, like Legend of Dragoon or the first two Zelda games. Srsly.

True, plus with Crisis Core just recently out more people will probably want to see FFVII remade because after all the credits are done there's a scene like the one above except when on the train it gets a close up of Cloud (who actually looks better than in this one) and all he says is "I'm Cloud SOLDIER rank 1" then screen goes black and it says "to be continued in FFVII"
A remake really needs to happen. So many more people would be turned onto the game if it were polished up with PS2/3 graphics. I think Square Enix needs to think of the profit they could make with this. Just don't change the game other than graphics and I guarantee the game will become the most widely sold game ever.

I have and it's NOT the truth. That's if you think about it further for a short while, but what about the new generation? Shall they never be able to take part of this classic? It would be a shame, and if they made an incredible remake (trust me, they would. They're very fond of FFVII as a trademark) it would be like a blessing for the fans. Hey guys, even though I read this about a week ago (Forgot Where) apparently Sony has been funding an unannouced Square project for a while now and if Sony is investing a whole bunch of money for something it has to be big. Who knows it might be a remake.

Advent children was a nice bookend to final fantasy 7 that finished out most of the remaining story threads. And Dirge of Cerberus was a fairly fun game, it was nothing special game play wise but that dose not mean it is not fun.
What remaining story threads? There were no story threads left after FFVII. The only thing AC could have possibly "finished" was that it clarified whether or not humanity survived holy. That's all. Explain to me how Cloud goes in complete character development for 2 years after FFVII ends without any explanation whatsoever. Well, they offered a wonderful explanation actually, didnt they? "He felt guilty"
he didnt go through a reverse character developement in my opinion - before the game he adoped Zacks' persona, and only towards the ending of the game he starts being his "true self" and then the game ends so really clouds character development happened in the 2 years after the game - and in the ending of the game no real details are revealed so if you think about there are tonnes of loose ends that need to be tied
The reason they left out Jessie and Wedge is because it's only a demo made for promotional purposes. If they were to actually remake the game, they would be added; they would have to be. They just took some liberties here because all they were really doing was demonstrating what the PS3 can do.
Though, if they did remake it, all they would do is make the graphics better really,only that and you would have to pay 35 odd quid to buy it! it's i rip off! ecen though I like the game, It wouldn't make any difference if they remade it!

Go to IGN, then go to the "FFVII: Technical Demo for PS3" section, then read the latest interview from Nomura (from July 2007).
Nomura said that Square Enix is not making a FFVII remake AT THE MOMENT. But might think about it if fans are still wanting it in a few years. (he personally wants to make one right now. hahaha).
alright didn't square say that ffxiii would be like starting with a clean slate all over again and be able to use themes from past ff games like life from ffvii. anyway it's highly improbable they'll stop making ff games cause they make a lot of money off of them. i mean the ff franchise could sell any system. anyway we got crisis core to look forward to
I doubt they'll stop at 13. If I remember correctly, they also said 12 would be the last game in the series, yet they started development on the next game in the series before 12 was even out in North America. Either way, they could end the series at 13, but that wouldn't stop them from making spin-offs and possibly remakes. I don't know if Square is even planning on ever remaking FFVII, but I do think they will do it eventually. It is the most popular game in the series.

This is one time I'm thankful that in this industry, money talks loudest of all. Demand for the remake is sky-high and will be long after FF13 & friends hits the shelves. Mark my words- it's gonna happen.
i graphics would be amazing, but the music which is often overlooked would sound amazing. If they remade the game they were throw out crappy MIDI soundtrack and re-record all of the amazing songs we like with an orchestra like modern game soundtracks. Now that would be an amazing game....again

I hope they do remake this. I also hope they aren't doing what they did before by making a tech demo for FFVIII for the ps2 and it never happened, i hope this isn't a repeat.

i've heard that they are gonna remake FF7 which is really fucking awesome, idk if its actually true but what i had heard was that
many FF7 fans where dissapointed in the face that this was just a tech demo for a the ps3 so then they started complaining and started saying that they should remake this game, and well what i heard was that because of all those demands they might go throught with the remaking of FF7

They will prbably remake it at some point but they want the original team that worked on it back together but with all of the projects the SE has going on expect any formal announcement after Versus XIII.

Don't get me wrong on this, but FFVII is popular enough. A remake would be #)(*^@*# awesome, but I'm sure that I'm not alone when I say there are better games to remake. Games that need more attention should be remade, like Legend of Dragoon or the first two Zelda games. Srsly.
But I was giddy to see that they didn't make Cloud like they did in Advent Children. He may be an anti-hero, but he seriously isn't emo...

True, plus with Crisis Core just recently out more people will probably want to see FFVII remade because after all the credits are done there's a scene like the one above except when on the train it gets a close up of Cloud (who actually looks better than in this one) and all he says is "I'm Cloud SOLDIER rank 1" then screen goes black and it says "to be continued in FFVII"

A remake really needs to happen. So many more people would be turned onto the game if it were polished up with PS2/3 graphics. I think Square Enix needs to think of the profit they could make with this. Just don't change the game other than graphics and I guarantee the game will become the most widely sold game ever.

i loved ff7, though it wasn't the first one i played, i didn't think it was the best, I think ff9 is better (but that was the first one i played n i just love vivi) however i think this game should be remade along with ff8+9, but meh u can't have it all can u lol

I wish they'd make a remake. But a remake that REPEATS the game in each and every detail. I got my hands on FFVII earlier this month(Yess... 11 years after it came out, you can say I am slow xD) And I absolutely LOVE it. Every little inch of it. And even terrible graphics doesn't spoil it. If FFVII remake comes out I am SO buying PS3? I swear.

I have and it's NOT the truth. That's if you think about it further for a short while, but what about the new generation? Shall they never be able to take part of this classic? It would be a shame, and if they made an incredible remake (trust me, they would. They're very fond of FFVII as a trademark) it would be like a blessing for the fans. The game was fantastic the way it was, that is true but why not have it the way it could be?

No it isn't. The main reason for not wanting a remake is that you're afraid that they'll f**k up and the remake will go downhill. More information is simply really nice... As long as it's good.

They are not redoing FF7.
It is a demo to show what PS3 is capible of in comparison to PS2.
They did a FF6 demo like this on PS1 for the same reasons. That was never made. Sorry, this wont either.

Hey guys, even though I read this about a week ago (Forgot Where) apparently Sony has been funding an unannouced Square project for a while now and if Sony is investing a whole bunch of money for something it has to be big. Who knows it might be a remake.

Music sucks in the tech demo. Yes, the original FFVII version is lower quality, but it sounds like complete shit in the tech demo for some reason. Also, if they ever remake FFVII, there is no doubt that they will manage to make it suck as much as Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus

You make your point so eloquently. Seriously what was so bad about advent children and dirge of Cerberus? Advent children was a nice bookend to final fantasy 7 that finished out most of the remaining story threads. And Dirge of Cerberus was a fairly fun game, it was nothing special game play wise but that dose not mean it is not fun.

What remaining story threads? There were no story threads left after FFVII. The only thing AC could have possibly "finished" was that it clarified whether or not humanity survived holy. That's all. Explain to me how Cloud goes in complete character development for 2 years after FFVII ends without any explanation whatsoever. Well, they offered a wonderful explanation actually, didnt they? "He felt guilty"

he didnt go through a reverse character developement in my opinion - before the game he adoped Zacks' persona, and only towards the ending of the game he starts being his "true self" and then the game ends so really clouds character development happened in the 2 years after the game - and in the ending of the game no real details are revealed so if you think about there are tonnes of loose ends that need to be tied

The reason they left out Jessie and Wedge is because it's only a demo made for promotional purposes. If they were to actually remake the game, they would be added; they would have to be. They just took some liberties here because all they were really doing was demonstrating what the PS3 can do.

There's still a possibility of a remake.
Go to IGN, then go to the "FFVII: Technical Demo for PS3" section, then read the latest interview from Nomura (from July 2007).
Nomura said that Square Enix is not making a FFVII remake AT THE MOMENT. But might think about it if fans are still wanting it in a few years. (he personally wants to make one right now. hahaha).

They aren't remaking it though... They are ending the Final Fantasy Series at 13, why would they bother with ff7?

I doubt they'll stop at 13. If I remember correctly, they also said 12 would be the last game in the series, yet they started development on the next game in the series before 12 was even out in North America. Either way, they could end the series at 13, but that wouldn't stop them from making spin-offs and possibly remakes. I don't know if Square is even planning on ever remaking FFVII, but I do think they will do it eventually. It is the most popular game in the series.

this is just a technical demo, guys. Square Enix didn't perfect anything - so that's probably why Cloud looks like this.
No doubt Cloud would go through A LOT of changes if this was ever remade.

i graphics would be amazing, but the music which is often overlooked would sound amazing. If they remade the game they were throw out crappy MIDI soundtrack and re-record all of the amazing songs we like with an orchestra like modern game soundtracks. Now that would be an amazing game....again
