FF12 - how to get level 99 fast & early (stage 1-2: starting out)

My total play time across multiple games in FF12 is about 800 or so hours, only 300 or so in my longest one.

is all you're doing is killing again and again without going through the story?

This is all done without advancing the story. This is called powerleveling. In my case, I'd call it extreme powerleveling. My Disgaea 2 setup is probably the most extreme you can get - I haven't touched Disgaea 2's story and yet, I hold the world record for the biggest single target damage popup ever - 11 1/2 billion and I'm only getting higher still 950+ hours into the game on the game clock (1150 if quitting and reloading is included, for perfecting items).

Why do you play it safe when fighting the wolves early on? You said to use a potion once your health hits 70. I get not trying to be reckless but isn't that a little wasteful? I personally use them at around 20-30

The new version (my GameFAQs guide) calls for 50 as the threshold instead and only getting those around the Rogue Tomato. Besides, these videos are heavily out of date and almost not worth using. My GameFAQs guide is much better on this regard.

Does having more party members effect the amount of xp you have at all or do all of the party members receive the total amount of exp per kill?

Experience is split when more than one character is in your party. This is why the humbabas in Mosphoran Highwaste give 2300 exp when soloed and not even 800 with a full party of 3.

I'm Level 21 pre-parade with Vaan I wish you could find Dustia this early because the Cockatrice can drop Phoenix Down's but it's a rare drop.

It does give more exp, but it's generally not worth it because it's not much.

Good luck because you're going to need not 70 hours but several hundred hours to do that, if not a thousand. It's not worth it. The wild saurian, the only thing worth considerable exp (~2800), cannot be damaged with the weapons you'll have access to at that point. Throw in the fact it deals 500 damage per hit with the armor you'll have and you've got a big problem. Only quickenings have a good chance to defeating it, but that's a slow method, very slow.

i have notice that wild saurian uses a move called canibalize to feed on wolves and get stronger so better don't attack wild saurian untill your at a level like level 99 or 98 or something close to it.

Immobilize also works and wild saurian can be defeated solo right after Nalbina Dungeons. If it hits (have the "serenity" license and full HP), it's totally helpless with the burning bow. It's not worth the exp or item drops though.

These videos are highly outdated and don't really cover everything my GameFAQs guide does. The GameFAQs guide is the best and most updated method and there's still 11 further updates/changes that need to be added. I'm currently involved with Disgaea 2 and probably won't return to FF12 for a while yet, a few months.

This video is where I get it in under 50 hours, but my GameFAQs guide allows for 40 hours, both of which without the use of dustia. My GameFAQs guide also covers the 70-hour method and is really the only thing I have that goes into any depth on the 70-hour method (again, that's without dustia, and it's also with virtually no story progress at all).

I have an unmodified US NTSC version of FF12, not affected by Gameshark and the related.

Other characters start at the same level as Vaan. This series covers the fastest route to level 99, but only 4 characters will be level 99 (Balthier and Fran are left out). However, the method covered in this series is very inefficient - my guide on GameFAQs has a much more efficient method and there are still several things I could improve upon. A video remake is in the works, but it won't be until November or something that you'll see it.

hey man,im playing ffxii international zodiac job system,if im gonna endup as an archer, and start out a rod, im thinking using dustia method at first to get me atleast lvl 35, then use some quickenings on drive talons to get a burning bow and im gonna get archer job,oh by the way theres no phoenix downs after u get suncrest,so ill have to farm is that a good way? can think of any other awys

I respectfully disagree. Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite RPGs of all time. It's not out of nostalgia either, I didn't play it until they had ported to the Playstation. Even though the port was horrendous (abysmal load times) I still couldn't get enough. The art and music are also top notch.

Actually, Chrono Trigger is really overrated and boring. The SNES RPGs you've already played are quite a bit better, don't bother with Trigger.
