  • Wow, great tutorial, had me playing the song in about three hours. Thanks John! :D

  • @RingoGeorgeJohnPaul2 Three hours, nice! Good job - glad the vid was helpful!

  • I'm learning them all over--taking lessons from your tutorials and Hear and Play with Jermaine Griggs. Just started with his lessons, and those are actually making some sense!

  • @Multi80schick Cool! Well if you want the chords, just let me know.

  • @pianojohn113 That would be great!

  • @Multi80schick Will do, just give me a few days and I'll try to have something for you via YT message system.

  • @pianojohn113 Thanx, John; I appreciate it!

  • @Multi80schick I just sent the chords, but the formatting could be way off. Let me know.

  • @pianojohn113 Thanx, John!

  • Thank you, John. Yours was the most helpful tutorial of this listed here of this song on You Tube. My brother used to play this by ear, but I never had his natural talent.

  • @Multi80schick Very glad it was helpful to you, Multi80schick!

  • @pianojohn113 I lost my sheet music moving down to Illinois. Is it possible for you to do a tutorial on the Zombies song "A Rose for Emily?" I found reading it to be hard, but the chords are gorgeous!

  • @Multi80schick Wow, I haven't heard that song in years.. It's on the only Zombies album I own on vinyl. Lots of chords, but very nice, you're right. I haven't played it on piano before, but I'll check it out again. Thanks for the suggestion! :-)

  • @pianojohn113 Thanx. I had a Zombies songbook I got through Amazon.com, and a lot of Rod Argent's arrangements are very tricky to play when you're looking at all those dots!

  • @Multi80schick Are you familiar with chords, or do you need individual notes to learn it? I can probably decipher the chords more quickly than I could post a video, if that would help.

  • Thank you John, you're like no other piano teachers I've ever seen/had. You obviously know what you're doing and very dedicated to doing so.

  • @divinegod102 You're very welcome, and thanks for the kind words. :-)

  • 5:04 "Hey ya payed for the piano, ya payed for the keys, use em all right?" Classic

  • Are you showing middle c? It's been forever since i've been at a piano.

  • @mamma0daddy Yes, the C in the right-center of the keyboard shown is Middle C.

  • Gracias!

  • Learn this quick and painlessly...great teaching skills at wrk here...pretty chordy song so very quick to learn with the combination of a great teaching format

  • @eking023 Very glad it worked for you! :-)

  • Another song to my repetoire well done John i love you man if you dont get into heaven ill sneek you in under my coat.

  • @purpleduke77 Ah, I appreciate that, thanks! :-)

  • Thank you so much, big help my friend!!

  • Really have enjoyed this, has kept me busy this week - just the right level for me, everything is there, but I have to work a little bit too. Thanks!

  • Hey John! Can i use your tricks to play in my school function???

  • @katycasata Yes, use anything you want!

  • Everything is great besides for your instruction on the chord at "hung me". That is not what Paul plays.

  • @SuperBajack What's the correct chord?

  • Awesome man! Can you do a lessen on Killer Queen by Queen... Please?? :)

  • Thanks for the tutorial! I might enter that Maybe I'm Amazed Contest Paul McCartney is having because of this. Thank you Soo Much!!

  • @twifan2luv Let me know if you do, that's great. :-)

  • So i really enjoyed this tutorial but i am a beginner and i dont understand how to play the notes. like the pattern you are making. if that makes sense. the intro was easy but are you how are you playing the notes when the song starts? it seems like you are playing the right and left hand at two different times, but then sometimes it seems like you are playing just one note from one hand....

  • @alexinwonderland5393 Not sure which part of the video you're referring to. Give me the time stamp as an example and maybe I can help you out.

  • "@pianojohn113 as soon as the verse starts in the beginning of the song. "maybe im amazed at the way you love me all the time.." when its a b flat, f b flat, d f b flat. in part 1 sorry. thank you!

  • @alexinwonderland5393 It's on Part 1? OK, just find the section of the video that you're referring to, and let me know the time of the video (the part that's giving you probelms) so I can find it easily and help you out that way.

  • @alexinwonderland5393 OK, what I'm doing there is alternating the RH notes with the upper two LH notes. Play the lower bass note and the RH notes all together, then the upper two LH notes a quarter beat later. first the RH notes (with the bass Bb), then the remaining LH notes.

  • thanks again for teaching me another song! please dont stop making videos it means a lot

  • wow... how does McCartney reach those notes! I'm 12 and I can't sing nearly as high as needed for this song; my voice is deeper than most highschoolers I know.

  • thank you so much!!!!!

  • Baby I'm amazed at the way John teaches me this song.

  • @dutchkollman Yes, I've used that Real Player feature a few times (although it doesn't work every time for me, for some reason). Hoping to keep the stormtroopers at bay for as long as possible, though.

  • @pianojohn113 Thank You! *teach btw

  • maybe i'm amazed by the way you tech me all the time lol thanks again john

  • Well it's been a long and winding road :-P for me to get to the end of these two tutorials and all I can say is These are Great !!!! Also thanks for the help on the intro to Money ... spot on. It's funny how I can learn so many thing by ear and then on instance comes by and I just can't seem to get it. Now I'll start on the Long and Winding Road ;-)

  • your videos are amazing, they help more than any other tutorial!!

good job, and keep it up

  • Hey, you've probably seen my comments around on your other videos but just want to say thank you :) And I was wondering if you could do Old Time Rock n' roll by Bob Seger? I know it's probably not popular as a request, and I would just like to learn it for fun, so please, take your time. Even a year is fine, seriously. :) Thank you, again!

  • @genevievehaag I have seen your comments, and thank you, I appreciate the kind words. Old Time Rock and Roll is a fun song to play.. it hangs around the G chord a lot, and is not too difficult. I'll keep it in mind, thanks!

  • Another great tutorial! thx!!!

  • thank you sooo much for this!! im only 13, but im learning this song for my recital next week!! Thank you!! this helps me alot! and im one of the beatles biggest fans :)!!

  • Can't thank you enough for this, I never even liked any of the beatles or wings songs until now. I guess you never really appreciate anything till you can play it and understand it.

  • i bought a piano a month ago and i'm halfway into learning his song. the extra notes really stretch my fingers but it's sounding great!

    thanks for the video!

  • Hey, I'm a huge fan fan of your videos. Ive only started playing piano a year ago and these videos have helped me learn songs in a matter of an afternoon that I thought would take me weeks.

Thank you for what you do. To take the time to explain everything so carefully and specific is very generous. Thank you

  • Youre awesome, i learned all the subtleties from you, amazed, day in the life, strawverry...wow, a beatles fan here, its amazing how the little extra notes make the richness.

  • Hey John,

Thanks for all of your posts. Especially this one and New York State of Mind.

  • o could you do English Tea by Paul McCartney?

  • Yeah, 'Fine Line', 'Anyway', and 'Promise To You Girl' all had some great piano in them. A lot of the tracks in Chaos and Creation had some great piano in them.

  • Aw, great! I love that song! I was actually going to request a tutorial on that one - that was a great album. A lot of the stuff on Chaos and Creation is great. Maybe, is you have time, could you do 'Fine Line', too? Or the intro, at least? Thanks, John, keep up the great work.

  • Can't wait to learn it ^^

  • Great ^^ Thanks a lot!

Maybe you could do "anyway" by Paul?

  • awesome! learned the whole thing in like 2 days!

  • thank u so much for filling in the gaps, John.. now I CAN play the whole song as it should be, though not as fluently as you.. thanks for posting again..

  • John - I'm amazingly amazed at how you play "Maybe I'm Amazed". You're amazing. Sounds like Paul McCartney actually playing it. I'm really amazed. This is my next project. I started working on "I'm A Walrus" a few minutes ago and I got a long way to go. Million stars to you again, John. You're like God.

  • Thanks John! you know youre actually really good at singing you sound kinda like Paul McCartney himself (when you sing that is)! :)

  • Hey, thanks.. I don't know that I'd put myself in Paul's company on the singing, but I appreciate the compliment! :-)

  • Hey John, I've been searching for someone who could give a decent tutorial of David Bowie's "Life on Mars?" Do you think that you could tackle that one?

  • Haven't done that one for a while, but I may still remember it... I'm gettin' old!

  • Yeah if you could post that song it would be much appreciated. I've been looking for a tutorial for a while. Thanks

  • excellent tutorial Sir

greetings to you from the City of Music

You must be a great teacher

  • yeah the "Captain and the Kid" would be awesome to learn! ...love the videos!!

  • thank you sooo much i just finally finished learning this song thanks to your lessons, all i have to do now is work a little bit on the transitions between chords towards the end. Thanks a Bunch!!!

  • Hey this is awesome, so helpful, espically the letters on the screen!!

i've been wanting to learn this song for a while ,

    thank you a bunch (:

  • hey, this is great, i still hadn't many piano-lessens(~5 or 6) but i'd like to play this..and now i'll try it.

i'm from germany but i although understood nearly everything ;)

  • Great Video! Well told, well showed and explained

  • Thank you so much for this!!

  • Great videos all! Any chance you can do some newer Elton John material, say "The Captain and the Kid" and or of course "Funeral for a Friend":)

  • Yeah, I might do that.. I don't play quite as much of the "later" stuff, but I do like the songs.

  • Thanks for helping with this great song! It sounds perfect.

  • thanks so much!

  • that comment was intended for alt 1962

  • Thank you very much for showing us how to do this. I truly appreciate it!

  • Sweet tutorial, I got it down I think, but whatta bout the end part that starts approx. 40 seconds from the end? Maybe he didn't do it in the studio, I am listening to the Wings Over America Live version.

  • It goes back to the D,F,Bb(maybe, I'm amazed) then the B,D,G, (maybe, I'm amazed) and ends on D,F#,A, (with you)and play D,F#A,B,A then C#,F#,A,B,A and finally C,F#,A,B,A ending with the upper D,E,D

  • Yea the D F Bb to B D G to D F# A buildup seems right, although I thought there was one more chord in that buildup as well. But those parts with the B, A in the right hand don't sound right to me.

  • I love this song and I want to thank you for posting this video. I have fun playing it albeit not as good as you, but I have found another way to play the "understand" part with the F, F# and the upper D that also sounds really cool. Thanks again

  • We're all lucky that you do these tutorials, just wanted to show some appreciation for getting me more immersed into Beatles music.

  • You are a gifted keyboard player. And to share what you're sharing is, so cool, unselfish, and a man who truly loves music. Thank you so much, and God Bless You!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I echo what others have said. While I'm a fan of your lessons I wonder why you don't post these a site of your own. Could make a bit of money! Maybe I'm amazed that you do this for nothing. Or do you?

  • I do it for free.. If I ever get my act together, I may post some of them on a blog. Again, though, no charge! :-)

  • wow, what a guy :)

  • I think its great! I love the humor and the fact that you make me use all my fingers and all the keys. Hey I paid for the piano. May as well use all of it.lol

  • Could you please do "Play the game" by queen?

  • dude I love that song. I want it too lol. Maybe also Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin by Journey.

  • That would be awsome

  • I'm french and I assure you that you are the Orovitz or the Czriffra of rock and roll piano teacher.

    Really the best

    thanks a lot.

    Thy

  • Hey John, this was fantastic, very easy and very uncomplicated and when i play it with the Macca song it sounds very good. I understand the studio version ends like this one... but... can you help me(us)with the live final? It seems to be just 3 more notes... just wondering... you know... lol.

  • Thats not true

  • shut up

  • i beg you, please don't stop.

    you sir are inspirational.

  • Great Stuff John! Are you still considering a tutorial for the song "Nightswimming" by REM?

    Thanks.

  • I might be able to do that if I have the time.. Too much work time, not enough piano time!
