  • This house does ZERO fire duty, all automatic alarms and ambo assists. To think you are videotaping something special because they barrel out into the streets with lights and sirens is silly.

  • @brendan129 You sir, are wrong. They also respond to many high rise calls, people trapped, and car accidents. Learn more about the fire service before you post a lame comment. Thank you, and have a nice day.

  • @EngTWOine luitenant for the ambo i think

  • what is up with the guy going up to the engine and asking question?!?!?! they r trying to go out on a run i am sure your questions can wait.

  • The guys on truck 3 had the other truck beat by a mile, can't believe they pulled out when the other truck wasn't even running yet.

  • @ndaguanno

Yeah they r very quick. I went on a run with truck 3 and they are fast as heck. Altough i only went to an ems call to a podestrian struck bi a car they were still very fast.

  • what i meant was for someone that doesnt know what an eq2b is. i hit wrong button. my question of the green light stands of do you know why they have it???im curious and it seems no one knows.

  • @bobcats330 "The Chicago fire department began using green lights on their trucks in 1927 by instruction of Fire Commissioner Albert Goodrich. The green light not only represents courage and safety, but also stands as a symbol for fallen firefighters. The tradition has since been carried out in several Chicagoarea suburbs."

Red and green were also lights on the starboard side of a ship That is another reason why they started that

  • @firefighter1229 Thanks for the answer. I have wondered that for a long time and never could find an explanation. Stay safe, stay low

  • @firefighter1229 from what i have read Fire Commissioner Albert Goodrich the first Fire Commissioner of Chicago was a sucessful boat/ship builder and using his maritime knowledge suggested the green light to represent the starboard or right side of the apparatus, much like maritime and avation, the light shows direction of travel.

I was unaware of the significance of the courage, safety, and symbolism of the light.

In this video I noticed that 42 had no green light and I am curios as to why?

  • @fireutility21 about halfway through the video you can see the green light on the far left side. They do have it. It is just the angle of the video camera.

  • @firefighter1229 ok yea now i see it

  • @firefighter1229 You don't have both colors on the same side of the ship. Port has red, starboard has green.

  • is the q an electronic or mech. sounds electronic

  • @bobcats330 It is an EQ2B siren. I think it might be federal signal.

  • @firefighter1229 the e means electronic sound not mech, and q2b is the model almost all of the q type sirens are fed sig. they have made for i think 60+ yrs and there are imitators out there but no noe compares in sound quality and effectiveness. do you know chicago has the green light???

  • @bobcats330 I know it is an eq2b. i used to work for chicago.

  • which station is it?

  • @dasdepp27 That is station 42. It is the main station. The location is 444 North Dearborn Street.

  • do the new engines not have the green light i cant tell?

  • Yes they do, its hard to see during the day lol

  • @sabethafiredept whats the point of the green? excuse my ignorance

  • @usmc1231JR33 its a tradition in the chicago fire department theres a story behind it but i dont remember it

  • @UnmarkedDiecast they also have a very recognizable paint scheme with the black and red cab

  • chassis are spartan gladiator

  • What model is engine 42?like what maker?

  • the new engines in chicago are made by crimson if thats what you mean
