im Großen und Ganzen würde ich das unterstützen... besonders bei Anfängern sieht "echtes" Tanzen (außerhalb der Tanzschule, wenn man noch nicht "ernsthaft" tanzt) mit langen Beinen ziemlich schrecklich aus.... Allerdings muss man bedenken, dass lange Beine auch ganz anders wirken können... Wenn man sich allein mal Yulia Zagoruychenko anguckt, die ja - nett ausgedrückt - nicht die kleinste ist ;) und sie zählt für mich - und viele andere - mit zu den besten Tänzerinnen.. :)

search for SAMBA DE GAFIEIRA here on you tube and you'll know what it's ballroom samba for us in Brazil. I don't think it's fair to use the name samba if you are not dancing and playing it.

I guess they know that they can't teach an amateur a dance that is as technically complex as a proper samba. So it's samba inspired but not the real thing. It doesn't really matter though - it's mainly about entertaining the crowd and the viewers, most of who don't know anything about dancing.

Im not a dancer and personally I prefer to see dances with 'conventional' music but that would get very boring after 6/7 years of the same programme. Each dance has to have certain steps in to be defined as a specific dance (if it hasnt then they would be penalised) so this must be a Samba even if we dont like it otherwise Ian wouldnt have got away with it.

Horrible Samba song and the dance wasn't much better! Since the song was too slow to be a samba they were off tempo a lot, and they were too far apart in hold. Those are just the technical problems; she had hardly any energy and didn't capture the spirit of the dance.
