Well she did fertility treatments has nothing to do with birth control since she actively spent thousands for the treatments to have kids. Granted the kids are exploited but what else could you do to support 8 kids? And you cannot say "dont have 8" cus thats too late now since they are already in the world... the show is good source of income to raise the kids. Otherwise the kids would be wearing rags and eating at McDs and ill all the time with no medicine to help them when they are sick.

The parents are both educated&the mum will know what's normal or not normal development. The dad has a job&the parents are realistic in terms of their expectations. It's all over the net..TLC offered Jodi compensation as a re-occuring person in the series (which is customary in the industry). Kate apparently flipped out and doesn't want anyone but she profiting from the show. Shame Kate (I leave Jon out because it doesn't appear he makes any decisions) doesn't realize these supporting characters actually helps her and her family look better, and more attractive to watch.
