I actually remember seeing two episodes that one of my cousins taped, when I was just a year or so old. One was "Video-Man" -- which included Electro -- and another was ... I can't remember the name, but it was the one in which Spider-Man and friends went to Hollywood; I could always remember the scene when Iceman was trapped in that heating room.
That episode was called "Spidey Goes Hollywood", and the villain was Mysterio. That episode was noteworthy for a completely different reason. The Incredible Hulk guest starred in that episode, as did his alter-ego, Dr. Bruce Banner. The Hulk was already popular to TV audiences due to the Bixby/Ferrigno live action series. But in 1982, due in no small part from the popularity of that episode of SAHAF, the Hulk got his won cartoon in 1982, but only for 13 episodes.
Both Spider-Man series' from the early 1980s were the greatest Spidey series ever made, because they had Spidey not only battle the villains from his own rogues gallery, but also villains from other heroes in the Marvel Universe. Villains like The Red Skull [Capt. America], Magneto and Juggernaut [X-Men], and of course, Dr. Doom, who was just as much a Spider-Man villain as he was a Fantasic Four villain. In fact, I thought Doom was a better Spider-Man villain, anyway.
"Spiderman and His Amazing Friends" is one of the cartoons that was produced by Marvel Productions after DePatie-Freleng was bought out in 1981, today Marvel is now owned by Disney.
@usa02 Most of the key DFE staff, including David DePatie, Lee Gunther, Gerry Chiniquy, Nelson Shin, and Joe Siracusa, among others, transitioned to Marvel Prods. Friz Freleng went back to Warner Bros.
In fact, all those guys worked at Sunbow/Marvel through the 1980s, working on not only Spider-Man [both 1980s series] and the Incredible Hulk, but also on G.I. Joe and The Transformers, as well as most other Sunbow/Marvel projects, including the G.I. Joe and Transformers movies, which were far better than the movies for both franchises today. however, why the can't make a true Super friends-type series with Marvel heroes has always been beyond me.
Well, I privately watch an animation block I call "Animation Plus", and one of the shows is what I call "Classic Marvel". It features the 1967 FF series, which basically was a joint effort between H-B and Marvel, as well as the two 1980s Spider-Man series, the 1981 Spider-Man solo series, which basically was what an H-B Spider-Man series would've looked like, as well as Amazing Friends. The Spidey series of the '80s are, by far, the best aniamtion portrayal of the character.
By the way, there's a heavy Sunbow/Marvel influence on my "Animation Plus" block. Aside from the Spider-Man series from the 1980s, Animation Plus also features G.I. Joe and The Transformers, which also came from Sunbow/Marvel. Other Animation Plus programs include Beyblade [2001-'03], Yu-Gi-Oh G1, Yu-Gi-Oh GX, Super Friends, ThunderCats, He-Man and the M.O.T.U., Bakugan, Classic Disney [1950s, '60s, and '70s], and this season, Deltora Quest, and Disney's entry, Kingdom Hearts.
Which is why episode 13, "Quest of the Red Skull", is not shown, because of all the Nazi references in that particular episode, not to mention that Adolf Hitler himself is also mentioned in that episode. That part was cut from the UPN airing of that episode in 1998. But then again, ABC Family and Disney also, for some reason, cut out the O.J. Simpson reference in episode 5, "Swarm", for reasons I still can't figure out.

I grew up w/ the '90s Spider-Man and love it, but Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends is amazing too, if not more amazing than its '90s version.
