  • 来年成人式…振袖どうしよかな(´-ω-`)

  • How many ropes and ties are involved there? 0o

  • This raises one question for me, I have friends that are around 170-180cm in height do you think that they are too tall to wear a kimono?

  • @Bakugantsuvai1 No not at all.. I'm 178cm tall myself and I need a kimono that is 160cm minimum they're not too tall to wear a kimono!

  • I can't wait to celebrate Seijin no hi and dress in a furisode too!!!

  • i have a juban that looks like hers (but its not a furiosode one) and i just realized how visible it was under my new ro! :( what am i to do?

  • looks so tight at the stomach, ouch

  • oh she looks so cute! i wish i could go to japan

  • I guess you just can't put this kimono on!! It takes a 1/2 hour just to do this!!

  • @GgSoulsister True, but this is the dressing of a very formal kimono. More informal kimono can be put on by one person if they know what they're doing.

  • @StardustWolf Yes, basic dressing can be done by anyone if they exactly know how to do it.

  • Very beautiful!

  • She reminds me of an ojou-sama! So pretty!

  • when they were putting on her obi it looked like it hurt. but sometimes beauty is worth the pain.

  • I so want to go to Japan! One thing I definatly want to do is dress into a Kimono. :D I would enjoy being able to wear one for awhile. I have one I bought at an Antique store from the 1940s, but it's very old. :)

  • wouldn't it be to hot to dress like that.?? she is wrapped in so many layers !!

  • That kimono reminds me of a swiming carp in a pond...

  • maiko do wear a furisode but they have a special obi called a darari obi, it is long

  • Is the obi knot used called something'sparrow'? It's very pretty.

  • @DepressedAnimeAddict Fukura Suzume, Chubby Sparrow. It's a popular knot choice for furisode, I gather.

  • ahh. i hate that it skips all of the end of folding the front and beginning of the tying the obi. that would have helped to see it

  • I wish I could wear a furisode!

  • someone take me to japan please!!

  • @aimanVIOVIX me too!!!!!!!!

  • hey just saying hi!! from Mexico!! yamatoku rules!!!

  • wow i love kimono...especially furisode...

but i've never tried any of those 'cause i'm not a japanese.

    the obi looks really tight...

i'm afraid i'll faint if i try it out...

although i'm quite used to shallower breathing, i can't stand if the obi's too tight.

anyway, it is really really beautiful...want to try.

  • haha, @ 2:05, that reminds me of when we're little and our moms tell up to hold our sleeves down while we put on our winter coats!

  • I wish I could be able to dress like that. I have a furisode that my sister got me for my birthday last year but I don't have the juban or that much else. I did get a fukuro obi, but I don't know how to put it on ;-; I've practiced putting on my kimono but it doesn't come out how it should look...

I need one of those salons to go to but I don't think one exists where I live.

  • Very pretty kimono but I wouldn't be able to breathe with that obi on

  • this kind of kimono is not too fancy for me, i have a furisode and i like how it is so fancy, this is very special. its hard to wear but worth it for the look.

  • That's about as elaborate as you get for kimono dressing. Next to a wedding, this is the only time a girl will wear something so extravagant.

  • too fancy for my taste. Very beautiful

  • wow just think how expensive those textiles are

  • It's such a long process!! But beautiful....

  • i think... i would feel pretty, if i got to dress like that everday, but... i would end up not liking getting so much cloth put on me... aren't those things heavy? i always hear about how heavy those silks are...

  • That is a beautiful furisode... and the process of getting dressed isnt as bad as it seems. And she is most definitely getting dressed for the Coming of Age Ceremony... she has that fur stole around her neck!

  • Poor girl looked like she was hating every second of the obi tying...when they were pulling on it really hard

  • this is almost violent kimono are beautiful but the process is almost like torture

  • violent kimono, torture...hahahaha

I like your sense of humor.

But this tugging makes us straighten our back out.

btw, what about your westner's corset?

Miss Scarlett directed Mammy to pull her corset strings very tighter in Gone with the Wind.

  • The corset actually had some benefits if worn correctly, it helps the back, breathing. The Victorian corset did have some dangers if not worn correctly. The corset is supposed to mold to the women's figure and then bring in the waist. It did cause some fainting, if the woman was not used to shallower breathing, or if worn incorrectly. I've read that some women think that the corset was very comfortable. It's supposed to be, at least.

  • @kirakirahatsjamu THe early corsets weren't bad at all, they were quite good, very comfortable, they just held things in a bit and gave support. The fashion where women tried to shape their ribcages and stomachs into dangerous shapes came pretty recently, only the past couple of hundred years, before then it was about support and smoothing, not about reducing stomach size.

  • @rhythm465 Corsets westerners used to reshape their ribcage and stomach were only used in the past two hundred years. Before then it was only about support and smoothing the stomach area a little, it was never supposed to reshape the body. It was for comfort and could easily be adjusted for body shapes changing. (such as pregnancy)

Miss Scarlett lived in a time when the fashion had gone dangerous- ideal was 'waist small enough for a man's hands to fit perfectly around a woman's waistline.'

  • i wouldn't mind getting dressed as a maiko everyday :]

  • shes not a maiko, you can tell by the type of kimono she is wearing [the back neck is not exposed enough] and how her Obi is tied. [the obi of a maiko is very long and almost touches the ground.]

  • thank you for the video!

  • what a long process just to get dressed o-o

  • Well, its not everyday that you dress like this, infact she probably never has. she is most likely being dressed like this for Seijin shiki, (the comming of age day) where you become an adult.
