Last year I saw these guys live for the first time, MIND BLOWING! Who cares my generation fucked up their 'music' (I'm 17 btw) These guys make up for it BIG TIME! \m/
Ya know, Rob, K.K. & Glenn always get the attention and glory, and they by all rights should, but that rhythm section is always in the pocket. Ian Hill and the drummer (in the 80's) Dave Holland are just badass and very good. Everytime I saw them in concert, Ian never once left his spot on the stage. He stood there for a good two hours just jamming his ass off. THAT is what makes a great metal band. You get that low end solid, and the high end has room to move around.
If you give a thumbs down on this music then get off this page, you don't get it and never will. Which is fine, go away and let us revel in the greatest metal band in the world!!!
What was so amazing about this album was the whole album! Genius mix and sound of any 80's album all the way through I'm 41 and still feel transcended when listening to it.
1. Stained Class 2. Sad Wings of Destiny* 3. Painkiller* 4. British Steel 5. Screaming for Vengeance 6. Hell Bent For Leather 7. Defenders of the Faith 8. Point of Entry 9. Sin after Sin 10. Ram it Down *-interchangeable i love all Priest records, but if i HAVE to order them.
Why do we have to argue about which is Priest's best album this is a great album and so are the rest of them. Although the albums Demoliton and Jugulator with Tim Ripper aren't as good as the albums with Rob Halford in them, but they're still awesome albums.
Guitarist Glenn Tipton admitted that this was the album that really established them as a band. They went from a band that was just known to metal fans to a band that became a house hold name. Screaming For Vengeance is a true classic!!!
this is really bad ass and I remember when this first came out, if at that time you had said Rob Halford was gay, I would have said "you're a fag!!" I just would not have beleived it. ha-ha
One of the best tracks on this album. Slow powerful groove. Not overproduced. Great guitar intro too. I think was the era when Tipton and Downing would up on the cover of Guitar Player. Seems like they'd really perfected the dual metal lead guitar dynamic by this point.
@truewarriorgod10000 But then you multiply by two guitars and you see just the natural progression of metal. I mean, Randy Rhodes whooped all this shit around the same time.
no way not even close, only bout half the tracks are decent The big hitters transfered to live stage well though.
Painkiller, Sad wings, Sin after Sin, defenders of the faith, unleashed in east Angel and Nostadamus all much better. though it comes way ahead of turbo and point of entry
@jeboisusmajku Judas Priest is a classic heavy metal band, but they laid the foundation of speed metal (thrash and power) in all their classic albums. And there are a lot of examples: Tyrant, Let us prey, Exciter, Running Wild, Rapid Fire , Screaming for Vengeance, The Sentinel, Freewheel burning, Eat me alive. All these are proto- speed metal songs. Certainly, Turbo and Point of Entry AREN´T real JP´s albums. They are Def Leppard and Motley Crue under the Priest´s sound (ie improved XD)
@FastasaShark1308 Yeah Turbo had glam/pop metal sound, though it wasn't that bad. But Point of Entry is typical classic heavy metal album similar to Saxon or other NWOBHM bands. I don't see any similarity between Point of Entry and pop glam garbage. And both of those albums are more JP then Painkiller. Songs like Tyrant or Let us prey sound more like hard rock then speed metal. I'm sure that speed metal bands were influenced by JP, but real JP is more rock/heavy metal band then speed metal.
@jeboisusmajku Point of Entry is an american hard rock album, only listen to "You say Yes" or "Don´t Go". Tyrant and Let us Prey is 70s metal, its sound is closer to hard rock; but theres an strong difference between these two songs and a classic hard rock song like "Good times, Bad times". Turbo, more JP than Painkiller?? Painkiller is the 90s version of Stained Class and Defenders of the Faith; Turbo only an attempt of sound like bands like Warrant (but I also believe is not a bad album).
@FastasaShark1308 PoE has more similarity with British Steel then with Turbo. Why would anybody think that PoE is not real JP? JP changed their style on Painkiller bcs classic heavy metal wasn't popular anymore, everybody was into extreme metal at the time. Good times, Bad times has more similarity with old JP then title track on Painkiller, which BTW sounds like crap. All that nervous and unnecessary screaming... I really hate that track. I can't understand how could anybody like that bullshit
@jeboisusmajku Point of Entry is NOT real Judas Priest, because Point of Entry is NOT metal!! JP had changed their style a lot of times, is their philosophy! They dont want to be repetitive!!! Sad wings is not the same as Screaming for vengeance, for example.
@FastasaShark1308 POE is heavy metal, infact POE is an example of how real heavy metal sounds. Painkiller is an example of how heavy metal should not sound. Just listen to Heading out to the highway or Hot rocking, that's real heavy metal. Painkiller is album for kids.
@jeboisusmajku Point of entry is not real heavy metal at all!!! In fact, there are blues- based songs!! The most important difference between heavy metal and hard rock is that hard rock is blues- based!! Heading out to the highway sounds clearly hard rock!! If Point of entry is metal, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin or a lot of glam bands are metal too!!
Last year I saw these guys live for the first time, MIND BLOWING! Who cares my generation fucked up their 'music' (I'm 17 btw) These guys make up for it BIG TIME! \m/
