  • I was exaggerating for comedic effect of course. What made AWIP so offensive to me, was that it was supposed to be a sequel to AWIL. When presented as a sequel to that film, it didn't just seem like the mediocre film that it was, it seemed more like an insult to fans of the original.

  • @elderberry9 To be fair, few sequels to classics live up to the original. Think Highlander 2. Wow. Now that made AWP look like Lawrence of Arabia.

AWP wasn't really a sequel to my mind since it played with new themes and ideas and involved none of the original characters. It took elements of the original premise and then cashe in on the success of the original title

  • @ChocolateFrogPrince From that perspective the producer would probably deserve a light flogging. Nothing so drastic as blocking him from making movies [can't comment on Utah. All I know is it's full of Mormons and has a thriving porn trade]. Just a few strokes with a birch to remind him to be original and not to try to cash in on a standalone great.

  • The people who made "An American Werewolf in Paris" should have been put on trial for crimes against quality film making, banned from ever making another movie, and then condemned to Utah for eternity.

  • @elderberry9 Little strong. Care to qualify? I mean, if I were going to level those accusations there seem to be so many more deserving objects of ire. Those responsible for Harold and Kumar for instance. Michael Bay would probably get my vote. AWP had plot, theme, structure, good actors executing their roles well. Subject won't be to everyone's taste but it's still a decent bit of film making by anyone's standards.

Can't say I'd agree with you, so... Care to qualify?

  • If there is a BETTER Werewolf film than AWIL I would like to hear about it. As far as I know, American Werewolf in London is the best Black Comedy in existence on film. Show me something better.

  • @asystolgod Oh. That's subjective. I'd point you to the classic Lon Chaney werewolf movies for a start. For sheer style you'd be hard pressed to better Brotherhood of the Wolf. Black comedy? Well, start with the daddy of them all; Dr Strangelove, then there's American Psycho, Fight club, Harold and Maude and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. There are others of course but this is just off the top of my head

AWIL is the best werewolf black comedy I have seen. I'll concede that.

  • @multiplemugs I actually

    just did a facepalm

  • @multiplemugs - really? and i thought it was a true story. are werewolves real or not? now im confused haha

  • @multiplemugs You mean as opposed to all those realistic, down to earth werewolf movies?

  • I meant 'Bricktop'. Lol, don't know why but I always think he's called porkpie. Weird!

  • Great film. Watched it when I was a kid and was terrified. Watched it again recently and noticed that 'Porkpie' from 'Snatch' was the taxi driver.

  • Oh, this commercial is from the brief point in history when commercials would show the VHS and DVD, but only mention the DVD. Kinda what's happening now with BluRay

  • the movie is form 1981 81+20=101 its then 2001 when it was come out

  • @1234zizawordpress That's true. And your point is...?

  • @S1587915G The beauty of your comment is that you give an example of what you consider a superior film. We can all, therefore, judge your evaluation in the light of your expressed cinematic tastes.

  • @S1587915G to compare this with teenwolf is both childish and idiotic beyond belief.it seems you dont possess enough intelligence and maturity to even comment on either.i suggest you stick with bugs bunny and the other looney tunes.

  • @S1587915G teen wolf was shit AWIL is way better even if it is just for the sound track

  • @S1587915G hahahahahahahaha

  • @S1587915G Two words you are unfamiliar with, Black comedy.

  • How come there are never like kid werewolfs or baby werewolfs because... I REALLY WANT a puppy

  • @MrsTwinLover

Did you know of the movie 'Teen Wolf'?

  • @S1587915G ya but hes not young enough :( hes more like a teen going on a adult look and well... I want a more closer to a wolf transformation

  • I am a werewolf.

  • @Psychocybinator And is your mother proud?

  • @ChocolateFrogPrince I wouldn't know. I lost her '98. :) XxX

  • that preview ruled ,i seen this movie before

  • great to see the remasterd version in my vue

seen this in school in 1985 who would let kids see this now great film though

  • you know, at 30s in, the hippie looking dude going through the glass window is John Landis.

Watched the digitally remastered version at the cinema last night.

  • An american werewolf in PARIS . was an insult to this GREAT MOVIE.. The FX's were laughable especially the transformation sequence.. They should have forgone the COMPUTERIZED FXs and stuck with TRADITIONAL ones..

  • @communistjesus I could shit a better werewolf than that werewolf from an american werewolf in paris.

  • shit that on 0:11 was bear not an wolf ahahahaha

  • Actually, it IS the werewolf... the creature they designed for the film didn't really look much like any actual animal in existence; it was a lot more hulking and brutish than a real wolf, certainly.

  • Great movie, Great werewolf

  • I thought the movie did a great job mixing humor and the horror! One of my all time favorite horror movies!

  • looks like an angry warthog.

  • How exactly did it do that?

  • In your opinion.

The Howling was an out and out gorefest. The script was nowhere near as sophisticated, the performances/quality of the actors wasn't in the same league and neither was the direction. Howling was just another int he pantheon of chew em up horror flicks and did nothing new. AAWiL was an original and has classic status for very good reason.

  • in your opinion. The Howling actually was very funny too, although it didn't try as hard as AWIL for laughs. The original Howling is actually critically acclaimed, as the sequels are awful. David Naughton is terrible, you gotta admit.

  • Not really. That's a consensus opinion I happen to agree with. David Naughton was supposed to be what he ended up as. That was a directorial decision to make us a] not be sympathetic with the character and b]wonder whether his "return" was psychosomatic or actual. I disagree that the film played for laughs. I think there was an irreverance about it because it was a different take on an old genre. The Howling was just... poor.

  • I concur with FrogPrince. The film was original and atmospheric and managed to both scare and amuse it's audience. David Naughton was specifically chosen by the director because he considered him perfect for the role. The special effects were so innovative for the time a new category was created at the Academy Awards in 1981 specifically for the movie, which it won. American Werewolf in London has become a minor horror classic and is listed as one of the top fifty horror movies by Fangoria.

  • david naughton is fab :)x

  • David Naughton is out of work

  • david naughton is fab :)x

  • directors obviously disagree with you..

  • David naughton is stunning and I really dont understand people who view things on youtube concerning people they dont like. =(

  • Ain't my fault he's the weak link in a fine movie.

  • Okay, thats your opinion but theres no dneying that he is absoloutley stunning *drools*, and he has aged very well infeed ;)
