Gene Kelly cannot sing. No matter what the uneducated music public believes. Mass opinion does not mean any viewpoint is correct. @rogharm -Singing can be done by anybody whether you or me or anybody likes it. There is no dividing line between a singer-for instance who are pure "style" with no range or loudness and another with a "trained voice" who is loud and clear and pefectly "in tune".

@f5yeangel5 There is quality and there someone promoted by a company and with enough advertising the public is made to believe what is not true. jack miller has a great voice. gene kelly does not have any voice. but gene kelly can dance ROGHARM he worked for mgm studios and if mgm studios accepted gene kelly singing then the uninformed public assumed that gene kelly could sing. but gene kelly could not sing. vic damone, kathryn grayson and howard keel COULD sing well for MGM.

Certainly he doesn't have the smooth, trained voice of someone like Jack Miller, but his rougher "everyman" voice is more appropriate for his character and the scene. He sings charmingly, in tune and with good diction while dancing up a storm. What more do you want? And is it really necessary to invoke Nazism to make your point? Good grief.

ROGHARM, this arrangement is played in the minor key which is the opera arrangement. playing this song again. this jack miller tone, vibrato and quality voice. kelly has no voic.e. this jack miller is great. you can insult me all you want but quality of jack's voice cannot be denied. he was a tenor of classical singing ability and kelly had no tone or vibrato. you accept kelly because you are not comparing what a real singer sound like. jack miller is almost an opera singer. ROGHARM kelly dances

Listen to the quality of this Jack Miller's voice, he is great. MGM had eddy/mc keel and grayson, and lanza they could sing!!!!!! Kelly could dance but not sing. Face facts. Kelly have no tone, vibrato and was used to bring the unsphisticated audience to the movies. If MGM claimed you could sing MGM expected the accept.

get the Tube to mp3 Converter (Freeware) and you're set. I did so with Vico Torriani's Zwei Spuren im Schnee made in 1955 and Elissa Gabbai - Winter in Canada from 1965.
