Theyre both still kickin around in Philly. Quite a few Easy company men are still alive. Theres typically a few at the annual WW2 weekend in Reading PA. I go there. I met Compton. As well as plenty of other veterans. I met the navigator who was on one of the planes that dropped the bomb. Can't remember which one. I also met a WW2 ace. I'd really recomend WW2 Weekend. Its awesome. Easy Company Veterans are only a sliver of what you'll find there.
wild bill was the best character in band of brothers....i was so upset when he got his leg blew off,it would of been great to see what he got upto in austria.
Great respect for these men,but t dont forget all the men who fought this war,the marines at okinawa, the men who hit the beaches at normandy, and japanese occupied islands, and all the others..it wasnt only easy company 506 PIR..BUT THANKS ANYWAY,and respect, greetings from belgium.
Very nice to be in the company of people who value these men. However there are many ignorant and misguided souls that need a SERIOUS wake up call. Roll up your sleeves and Make you voices heard! The people who believe in nothing and would fight for nothing need to be challenged!
From Wikipedia: Mairzy Doats is a novelty song composed in 1943 by Milton Drake, Al Hoffman and Jerry Livingston. It was first played on radio station WOR, New York, by Al Trace and his Silly Symphonists. The song made the pop charts several times, with a version by the Merry Macs reaching No. 1 in March 1944. In addition to its success on the home front, it was also a hit with American servicemen overseas, who allegedly used its nonsensical lyrics as passwords.
This is really cool indeed. I just watched the series again and could watch it many times more.
Amazing how liberals want the schools to 'forget' the terrible things these guys witnessed. WTF is wrong with the liberals? Are they really that stupid and ignorant?
My grandfather, Charles LeLand McMunn was a gunny in the marine Corps. He sang this very song until the day he died. He often told me he would sing it with his friends in a fox hole on Okinawa. Until now I did not realize he was serious. Great to hear two hero bringing my memories back.
Bill was best friends with Toye, Martin, Heffron and Malarkey during the war but since Babe and Bill both went back to South Philly to live for the rest of their lives they were able to continue to see each other pretty much every day for the next 60 or so yrs... thats y
Definately a better time, I agree. People like these are realy Americans who ACTUALLY care about our country...as do I. People nowadays are brainwashed into hating America and it makes me sick.
I agree! I have been remembering D-Day all day today. Proud to be an American! My grandfather fought in the pacific and he makes me proud as well as all the men - American, English, Australian, Canadian, etc who fought along side us....
my great grandpa was in the 101st airborne with these guys just not the same company i think idk, im proud of any american or any one who served in ww2 they are all heros
See the songs that these men would sing in a fox hole. More class than almost any kid around now a days. Now, they will sing about pimpin, and slappin a ho. That is exactly what went wrong in our country. We lost our culture. Remember, that eazy co. was a bunch of immigrants sons from all over. They assumed the language, and the culture of the USA. Now our culture is sex, money, and greed at any cost. We will surely lose freedom if we don't learn a thing or 2 from Guarnere and Heffron. PATRIOTS!

Oh yeah! I downloaded tons of stuff. I also have Oklahoma! South Pacific. Really great stuff. I think it's really cool that when you went out with your girl, you listened and danced to live bands. My dad loved Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey. I like to listen to them too. Dad would probably get a real kick out of me listening to his music if he were still with us.
Awh! Same here. I really didn't want much to do with the music when my Dad was here. Ashamed of that now. Folks loved to dance. My Mom knows I love the music now. It brings back memories for her. She gets tickled and starts dancing a jig when I pull out The Big Bands! LOL She's 82 Bless her!
Joe Toye died. I don't know when, but his son was interviewed on one of the Band of Brothers CD's. He said his father wanted his headstone to have E Company 506 PIR, 101st Airborne on it. Joe Toye looked like a rough character. I wouldn't want to mess with him.
