wow i remember watching this in front of the PC. i literally screamed when he won. he did have a few chances on winning earlier in the match but Federer did come back. but this was the BEST ever final i have ever seen, especially in Wimbledon.

Roger should have asked play to be stopped. He was a few points from winning. The grass doesn't favor all court players anymore. Nadal is in RF head. If he weren't then Federer would have won at least half of the matches they've played. I do give Nadal credit, but it shouldn't have happened.

You don't need to volley if you have a serve and a forehand good enough. Roddick definately has both, and his serve on a faster grass court would be unreturnable 85% of the time.

LOLOL thats funny, actually yes they did slow the courts down. in fact in this very match which i just downloaded, theres a clip they show using the hawkeye system to show the way the rogers serve hits the court that year as compared to the year before. the results showed that in fact in 2008 the ball bounced higher and SLOWER, even a few km slower, than in 2007. sorry theres no conspiracy here. only facts. if you really care download the match and you'll see what i mean.

Nadal is in Federer's head, it's all mental and Roger shouldn't have lost this Wimbledon and should have at least one win over Nadal at the FO. I do like Nadal and give him credit, but if Federer gets his head right he would have already broken PS record.

1. RF should have won this, he had chances. 2. The grass has changed and does not favor a serve and volleyer anymore 3. it was so fu*king dark, the t.v. doesn't do it justice you couldn't see the ball there and RF could have easily said he wanted to stop the match but didn't. 4. Nadal is in RF head, if he can get him out he'll be beating Nadal because he has the ability to. it's all mental at this point.

Typical of youtube Federer fans that DONT give Nadal credit. Yes Federer had his chances but Rafa also had his chances, ei up 5-2 in the 4th set tiebreak. And yes the grass doesn't favor the serve and volleyer anymore. If it did, neither Nadal nor Federer would be winning Wimbledon. We would see Andy Roddick with at least two Wimbledon titles if not more.

Roddick cant volley for shit though mate. Federer has an awesome volley technique. He doesn't use it that often due to the modern game.

You don't need to volley if you have a serve and a forehand good enough. Roddick definately has both, and his serve on a faster grass court would be unreturnable 85% of the time.

Best tennis match ever..just watched the French Open final..Federer v Soderling..great Federer equalled the record but as far as im concerned it was a terrible match lacking drama, tension or excitement..Nadal v Federer is what real tennis fans want ..Nadal for me is and always be the greatest !!! Disappointed to hear he is doubtful to defend his Wimbeldon title with that knee injury..pray he will be back soon ..the sport needs his fight and determination badly!! Vamos Rafa..

Truly epic! Roger in 07 said he was glad to win Wimbledon while he still could. Meaning Rafa almost took it from him then, and he rallied from behind to win. He should've been prepared for this.

I was lucky enough to be at that Match...we missed our last train back to Shropshire and couldn't have cared less. Both players gave it absolutley everything they had. Hard on Federer, an awesome player, but Rafael Nadal definatley deserved it. Privieldge to watch.

LOLOL thats funny, actually yes they did slow the courts down. in fact in this very match which i just downloaded, theres a clip they show using the hawkeye system to show the way the rogers serve hits the court that year as compared to the year before. the results showed that in fact in 2008 the ball bounced higher and SLOWER, even a few km slower, than in 2007. sorry theres no conspiracy here. only facts. if you really care download the match and you'll see what i mean.

I'm a federer fan,but i still have to say that it was probably one of the greatest, if not the greatest match, ever played. both players played with heart and what we got was a battle for the ages. federer must be heartbroken, after climbing back, but he'll realize later on what a classic it was.
