  • This is the best theme tune of Anything, this version.

  • I watched this as a kid and made me cry... it was an emotional tune....

  • but then t ended =(

  • yay the doctor regenerated once more

  • amazing this was the pinnacle of computer generated imaging. and now its a plugin you find in windows movie maker

  • This theme signified bed time for me as it played on PBS and "pot time" for my parents in the early 1980's.

God I miss being a kid.

Off to kill myself now. Adulthood in the 2010's sucks.

    Cheers!

  • Tom Baker-THE Doctor.

    David Tennant-The Best Doctor.

    Matt Smith-MY Doctor.

Out dog used to hide behind the TV when this theme tune came on, and howlllll!

    :)

  • Being a kid of the 70's, Tom Baker will always be my Dr. Who... but boy did that music give me the creeps! I love the original still to this day above all others.

  • My fav version of the doctor who theme

  • RIP Sarah Jane

  • I like the new ones too, but it seems to have lost some of its spookiness from the old days. Its just not the same

  • @Clubpenguin729Minus

  • @DoctorWhoCenter2011 k, i was kidding, i like this music

  • Phwoar, Elisabeth Sladen! The things I wanted her to do to me.

  • This was the first episode of a long seven years with Tom Baker as Doctor No. 4. He was clearly the best until David Tennant.

  • ba ba da ba ba da

    oee oooooooooo

ba ba da ba ba da

    oee ooooooooooo

  • do eny1 need lyrics on this theme song?

    :P

  • this is actully the real theme cuz this is the real dr the 1st evar made was with tom baker

  • @iceburg008

I'm surprised some other annoying pedantic geek hasn't told you this, but Tom Baker was the fourth doctor.

    1) William Hartnell, 2) a Bloke with dark hair who played a flute thing 3)John Pertwee 4) Tom Baker 5?) Peter Davison 6?) Colin Baker 7?) Sylvester McCoy etc.

  • @seanytwonk i no that he is the 4th (well was) im just traing to say that this is a classic original...

  • @iceburg008

Oh, I see. Sorry. Tom Baker is rather 'original' isn't he? Or slightly mad to be more accurate.

  • @seanytwonk 2nd was named Patrick Troughton.

  • @Red23791

Of course. I would've remembered if I'd been old enough to watch it at the time.

  • @seanytwonk But he was and still is the Best Doctor.

  • Superchannel, fuckin' hell, I remember that. Robot was the only Doctor Who episode they showed. Ha ha ha, well it felt like it, they repeated it so much.

  • "Lieutenant Sullivan? Emergency. A new doctor has just morphed into being..!"

  • Ah, Memories....

"Robot", December 1974 (Date of original BBC broadcast)...and the historical beginning of an era of Doctor Who that would be nothing short of *superb!*

    'Nuff Said..

    Thanx fer this, m8...

  • Sunday nights, Chicago's WTTW channel 11, 1983. the biggest crush on Sarah Jane Smith.

    I was a Who-ite from then on!!

  • Did you by chance see the WTTW "Max Headroom" signal piracy incident that cut into a DW broadcast in 1987? I've seen the video of it on YouTube - it is weird and hilarious.

  • I did that!!! it was strange... my friends and I were looking for it to happen again...

  • Takes me back to Saturday night television with my dad :) Tom Baker was my introduction to the Doctor... Good Memories!

  • same her i still think hes the best D.W ever

  • This music used to scare the living piss out of me as a kid. I used to close my eyes and put my hands over my ears until the opening credits had finished.

  • @Suswanel I liked this as a kid but closed my eyes and plugged my ears when that "Taled from the darkside" opening came on.... ugh, creepy ass thing to play a 5 year old.

  • @Suswanel

The opening titles to Mystery scared the ever loving crap out of me. I can totally relate!

  • @Suswanel I am glad that I'm not the only person who was absolutely freaked out by this when they were young! I remember doing the exact same as you.

  • @Suswanel Same here. I used hear this out in the living room when I was in bed. My Dad always watched it.

  • cool regeneraton clip after opening title!!!!

  • What pleases me more than anything here is the inclusion of the beautiful SUPER Channel station ID. It didn't last too long that way, and got worse and worse over the years. Did the blue background precede or follow this black one? I forget.

  • Has anyone ever proved that Tom Baker is not really Larry Howard of "Three Stooges" fame?

  • His teeth and the fact that he has hair on top would prove that, I should think...

  • Tom Baker,my favorite doctor in his first appearance in the episode "Robot".Tom was pretty cool as the doctor. He was hilarious, fun, heroic, and a genius. His companions were great but my all time favorite was Mary Tamm as Romanadevoratrelundar.Romana for short.

  • Tom Tom Tom!

  • awesome...this was a great show

  • I used to watch this show at 6:00pm on UHF black and white TV when I was like 8-9 years old. Great show and wouldn't miss an episode! Loved Tom Baker.

  • this is the best Tom Baker episode.

  • Tom Baker!! My fav Dr

  • the opening music to this used to scare the shit out of me as a kid. i could only watch bits & pieces, becuase the music would haunt me and i'd have horrible nightmares of the creatures in the show.

  • hilarious reference to this in family guy star wars episode.

  • lol you beat me to it

  • Seth MacFarlane couldn't really get into "Doctor Who."

  • Racist bastard!

  • This is the best show ever!!!! I am an American and I grew up watching this show uber late because it came on here in North Carolina at a later time, actually it was every Tuesday night at 11:00pm and every Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm. My Dad let me stay up and watch it. He even started to like it. So I just wanted to thank my British friends for a great show. We don't get any other UK shows here except for BBC news and I enjoy that too. American news is very Amero-centric. Thanks again!!

  • Thank you ...its a very honourable and honest post that you wrote. Just so that you know , this is one of THE most beautiful and quintessentially British songs/tunes ever written (its hard to find someone who doesn't recognize it).

  • I grew up in the 70s on the Tom Baker era of Dr. Who and LOVED it, I have gotten hooked on the last 2 Drs, the special effects have come a long ways. It is really a classic show. When I saw the new series and saw the Daleks I creamed my shorts.

  • Good on your Dad !

  • this is the best Tom Baker episode.

  • No, that would be Ark in Space (imo).

  • (Imo) Genesis of the Daleks

  • Even I wouldn't watch the garbage we have here now. American shows suck these days. All the good ones are long gone. Nothing but girlie soap operas on now. :(

  • What about The Simpsons isn't that still good?

  • Simpsons in its current state is shit with a few diamonds scattered here and there in the massive pile of shit spewing out of the ass's of bad writers. The simpsons should have had a movie and ended in 2004 (back when it was at least still funny)

  • you don't watch mutch television then do you?

  • I agree with CJ and I don't watch much tv, anymore, either. Nothing worth watching. It is all garbage. And, unfortunately, the Simpsons are not what they were, having "jumped the shark" long ago.

  • the Simpsons were over years ago and yet, they still beat that dead horse. however, i'm refering to shows like House, and CSI and such. hell, i even watch alot of history channel still. don't get me wrong, there's a TON of bad shows still out there, but UK shows are just as bad as American shows. Even Torchwood is a show about a bunch of whiners, sexy aliens and the gay kiss of the day. it's a gimmick sci-fi show. if all you're seeing is girlie soaps, then you're watching the wrong channel

  • It's awesome to see what it used to be like! I'm a recent fan of Doctor Who, and American as well, but I love this show more than most American shows. I think it's incredible, my brother was in Cardiff when they shot the newer Doctor Who seasons, so he's pretty excited to see what the show is like when he gets back in July.
