@SebSome Isnt just?!! Can't wait for tonight :D but I have been rewatching all the classics! Like Tom Baker and Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee and they are bloody freaking amazing! One Doctor I didnt like was Christopher Eccleston to be honest :/
@SebSome OMG I am wetting myself for Saturday! I'm even going to a 'Doctor Who Finale' party and sleepover becausse me and my friendds are so nerdtastic ;)
@WaterBottle1998 YOU'RE SO LUCKY, almost none of my friends watch it. I'm going to be Tom Baker for halloween, all I need is the sonic screwdriver. I'm so excited!!!
@WaterBottle1998 I wish I could have! AND I MISSED IT!!!!!! I'm about to go watch it on the internet now. And that's so awesome, fezzes are the best! You should totally be the 11th doctor if you get to wear a fez!
@WaterBottle1998 I can't use it because I'm in Canada! Damn! Anyways, while searching for it I found out that there's so many Tom Baker episodes on Netflix!!!! I'm going to watch all of them!
@SebSome Ahahaaa! Have you watched it yet? And I'm pretty sure if you change your location on your computer you can trick it into letting you watching iPlayer, thats what I did when I was in Australia
@WaterBottle1998 I just watched it. IT WAS SO AWESOME OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe Brigadier is dead, its so sad. BUT EVERYTHING ELSE WAS AMAZING
Being a kid of the 70's, Tom Baker will always be my Dr. Who... but boy did that music give me the creeps! I love the original still to this day above all others.
I'm surprised some other annoying pedantic geek hasn't told you this, but Tom Baker was the fourth doctor.
1) William Hartnell, 2) a Bloke with dark hair who played a flute thing 3)John Pertwee 4) Tom Baker 5?) Peter Davison 6?) Colin Baker 7?) Sylvester McCoy etc.
Superchannel, fuckin' hell, I remember that. Robot was the only Doctor Who episode they showed. Ha ha ha, well it felt like it, they repeated it so much.
"Robot", December 1974 (Date of original BBC broadcast)...and the historical beginning of an era of Doctor Who that would be nothing short of *superb!*
Did you by chance see the WTTW "Max Headroom" signal piracy incident that cut into a DW broadcast in 1987? I've seen the video of it on YouTube - it is weird and hilarious.
This music used to scare the living piss out of me as a kid. I used to close my eyes and put my hands over my ears until the opening credits had finished.
@Suswanel I liked this as a kid but closed my eyes and plugged my ears when that "Taled from the darkside" opening came on.... ugh, creepy ass thing to play a 5 year old.
What pleases me more than anything here is the inclusion of the beautiful SUPER Channel station ID. It didn't last too long that way, and got worse and worse over the years. Did the blue background precede or follow this black one? I forget.
Tom Baker,my favorite doctor in his first appearance in the episode "Robot".Tom was pretty cool as the doctor. He was hilarious, fun, heroic, and a genius. His companions were great but my all time favorite was Mary Tamm as Romanadevoratrelundar.Romana for short.
I used to watch this show at 6:00pm on UHF black and white TV when I was like 8-9 years old. Great show and wouldn't miss an episode! Loved Tom Baker.
the opening music to this used to scare the shit out of me as a kid. i could only watch bits & pieces, becuase the music would haunt me and i'd have horrible nightmares of the creatures in the show.
This is the best show ever!!!! I am an American and I grew up watching this show uber late because it came on here in North Carolina at a later time, actually it was every Tuesday night at 11:00pm and every Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm. My Dad let me stay up and watch it. He even started to like it. So I just wanted to thank my British friends for a great show. We don't get any other UK shows here except for BBC news and I enjoy that too. American news is very Amero-centric. Thanks again!!
Thank you ...its a very honourable and honest post that you wrote. Just so that you know , this is one of THE most beautiful and quintessentially British songs/tunes ever written (its hard to find someone who doesn't recognize it).
I grew up in the 70s on the Tom Baker era of Dr. Who and LOVED it, I have gotten hooked on the last 2 Drs, the special effects have come a long ways. It is really a classic show. When I saw the new series and saw the Daleks I creamed my shorts.
Even I wouldn't watch the garbage we have here now. American shows suck these days. All the good ones are long gone. Nothing but girlie soap operas on now. :(
Simpsons in its current state is shit with a few diamonds scattered here and there in the massive pile of shit spewing out of the ass's of bad writers. The simpsons should have had a movie and ended in 2004 (back when it was at least still funny)
I agree with CJ and I don't watch much tv, anymore, either. Nothing worth watching. It is all garbage. And, unfortunately, the Simpsons are not what they were, having "jumped the shark" long ago.
the Simpsons were over years ago and yet, they still beat that dead horse. however, i'm refering to shows like House, and CSI and such. hell, i even watch alot of history channel still. don't get me wrong, there's a TON of bad shows still out there, but UK shows are just as bad as American shows. Even Torchwood is a show about a bunch of whiners, sexy aliens and the gay kiss of the day. it's a gimmick sci-fi show. if all you're seeing is girlie soaps, then you're watching the wrong channel
It's awesome to see what it used to be like! I'm a recent fan of Doctor Who, and American as well, but I love this show more than most American shows. I think it's incredible, my brother was in Cardiff when they shot the newer Doctor Who seasons, so he's pretty excited to see what the show is like when he gets back in July.
This is the best theme tune of Anything, this version.

This theme signified bed time for me as it played on PBS and "pot time" for my parents in the early 1980's.
God I miss being a kid.
Off to kill myself now. Adulthood in the 2010's sucks.
Cheers!
