  • Meg is the only drummer for the white stripes? She fits the rough style the band has, so stfu about how good or bad she is. She's sold more records than all of you combines

  • Jack must have the strongest neck of the rock and roll history, just watch . . .

  • I don't care what anybody says, that chick is a terrible drummer. Drumming is all about keeping the time, which apparently she can't do. Hence, she sucks.

  • wow something new for me

  • fuck the white stripes

  • The beginnning of the first riff like that "Santa claus" by the sonics no???...after louie louie it's all right!!!!!

  • motorhead + JACK WHITE = ??? tell me

    but this is awesome

  • @karlwerner89

    It's Meg, Karl.

  • @psychkoala It doesnt make me different :D

  • @karlwerner89

You mean "It doesn't make any difference to me." ?

  • im not a musician... but i think im better than Meg

  • If I had the chance...I'd make Meg "cum" so good...she'd forget all about Jack...!

  • awesome song

  • wait what happened to the boll weevil video????

  • So many great bands wouldn't have been the same if it wasn't for Nuggets!

  • Total Crap ! Check out the french MAGNETIX for a real guitarboy/drumgirl duo

  • Total Crap ! Check out the french MAGNETIX for a real guitarboy/drumgirl duo

  • This version sucks.

  • 00:55 God, he has a nice ass xD

  • don't knock the drums - unless you play drums - it takes both arms and legs and INTENSE - concentration - most u fools can't think and masturbate.

  • Meg's smash and go drumming is a key point to the band's sound

  • crap eh? where's your band?

  • jack is great but the drums are not good at all

  • That trap set is pretty much amazzzing!!!

  • Louie Louie developed over the years.

The best known version might be the one from the kingsmen (around '62)

  • i think the original is by Toots & Maytals

  • @jks2 nope, original by Richard Berry...

    Peez, Jay

  • r berry did it 1ST

  • the premiers, were from east la and played at the paramount ballroom, which also had sonny and cher perform before they were sonny and cher...and stevie wonder when he was a boy (little stevie).

  • actually Louie Louie is by The Sonics

a 60's band that is down right amazing

  • louie louie was a song from jamica

  • @yadeera r berry

  • farmer john is a great neil young song but the stripes twist on it is fantastic

  • this is a neil young cover... :)

  • I think the original is by The Premiers.

  • That was the second band to play it. The first was Don and Dewey.

  • NNNNOOOOOOB!

  • nah its not, it was done long before he ever did it

  • @joeybear93 ???????? uhhhhhh no way.

  • I love the sixties sound of the White Stripes,Great!

  • my two favorite things.... the kinks n the stripes.....

  • OMG! *favourite*

  • This, and also the Black Flag version of Louie Louie, is awesome. Never really cared for the original.

  • well but since the original is pure proto punk you should do that and by the way, it's way better than the other versions, especially this one here.

  • They're not that great, and Rolling Stone is a joke.

  • Rolling Stone you mean the magazine ?...

And yeah it's a joke, they fired Lester Bangs !!

  • Jack and Meg do indeed ROCK like no other band in the last 30 years or more, no doubt. I cant believe there are people on here who dont think Jacks guitar is all that! Go see them live then tell me. Rolling Stone rated him the 17 greatest rock guitarist of ALL TIME! and Megs drums are the perfect foundation for them Shes the bedrock! reminiscent of Grant Heart in Husker Du in a way.

  • so right man, so right.

  • THANK YOU!!!

  • The thing I like about this pair is the simplicity. You got a bloke who plays the guitar/piano/harmonica and sings as well. His sister plays the drums worse than that bloke from Def Leopard but thats splitting hairs. Sorry Meg.

  • jacks awesome playing is great contrast agaisnt megs simple playing. it gives jackt the freedom to really play extrodanary without distraction and without making stripes songs to cluttered. meg rocks and you suck

  • @killersbones

so Bonham distracted Page, Mitchell distracted Hendrix, Baker distracted Clapton, Pace distracted Blackmore, damn, now i know why they all suck and never play extraordinary, thank god your comment is upped!!!

  • theres good reason she plays like that, if she was thrashing away like a metal drummer the stripes would pretty much sound like... metal!

  • actually, he plays wiht the racounters(?) well more like he is the racounters, but he is one of the biggest musical geniouses of all time and no...meg's not that great of a drummer, but who cares? he could be a solo artist and it would still be good!

  • she is completely self-taught, she came over to jack's when they were married and started drumming and that was that. could you do that? no sir, you could not.

and besides, jack has the raconteurs and they are very good, but not quite the stripes

  • Yeah but still, I have plenty of friends (well, three or four) who're self-taught and they're better than Meg. But it's not that bad, actually it's part of the charm of the White Stripes.

And anyway rock'n'roll isn't about learning drums in a jazz school !

  • maybe they were more talented or naturally gifted, but "better" is kind of general

meg on her own would fail, but her simplistic drumming sounds awesome next to jack (killersbones)

it's like comparing keith moon-ringo starr

keith is clearly more talented, but ringo just sounds right with the rest of the beatles

  • ringo is also very talented, he's one of the most underrated drummers in history. and keith wanted to split with the who and drum for the beatles (he even asked them if he can join).

  • really, never heard that before

i think they needed ringo though, for comic relief and obviously his sweet drum skills

  • read this on the englich wikipedia article of ringo:

    Drumming ability and appreciation

many drummers site him as influence and well read just what steve smith and phil collins say about him.

  • yeah, i've seen it

underrated, underappreciated, but deserving of his spot in the greatest band ever

  • yeah that's the problem if you're a member of the beatles, i mean instrumentaly they are all very underrated by people who are not into the beatles.

i mean they wrote very great music but if they were not good at their instruments it still would sound like shit (what it does not as we know).

  • i agree

on the other side of the coin, there are people who are ridiculously gifted at their instrument yet cannot write at all, so a lot of talent is wasted

  • @benito4244

funny stuff asshole, a paraplegic Ringo Starr drumming with his mouth on a can of beans would still get a better rythm than meg white will ever have.

  • @OropherThranduil But isn't funny how that style of drumming completely suits the musical style. And since when did being stuffed with fucking beans affect how you play drums?

  • @Imptheshrimp

well, jack white is a piece of shit compared to page who had bonham, to clapton who had baker, to hendrix who had mitchell, to blackmore who Pace (perfect name for a drummer), and well, great bassplayers make solos even more awesome.

  • @OropherThranduil I guess maybe that's just like your opinion man.

Thing is, he's not those players. Nor does he have a bassist. But the band makes do pretty well without, and also with Meg's style of drumming. It works for what they play. Now, arguably, he is just as good a player as many of them, or at least as good of a performer with his own certain idiosyncrasies. If you don't like him, not much I can do about that, however he is by no means a piece of shit.

  • @Imptheshrimp

I like him, and i love Megs drumming on Seven nation Army, but damn, those 1 week playing beats really get boring after a while.

As long as noone ever says that meg is even remotely good, it's okay with me.

She's as good a drummer sas Yoko Ono is as a singer.

  • @OropherThranduil Oh god that actually made me laugh so hard. I know she's not a great drummer, and the same beat definitely gets boring, but her drumming does suit the music they play.

  • good point

    less is more

  • i very like the cover of them

  • instantly got chills!!

  • this is fuckign amazing. anyone who says different is a pig

  • Anyway people ... nothin beats the Premiers version of Farmer John (but check out Dude Dude Chick's version for a great modern take)and as for Louie Louie, after the Kingsmen version there is only the Clash who come anywhere near for that hair raising on the back of your neck experience. Sorry... I don't think either are posted here.

  • well...you probably have the musical taste of a prepubessent whore who likes paris hilton and shit, but the whitestripes touch anything, instant orgasm! no joke!

  • Yeah the Premiers' version's awesome, it's on the garage compilation the nuggets.

  • Hey Rockinsal - get a grip will yer. The White Stripes are cut from the same cloth as the Dee Jays and the Kingsmen. There's a raw energy from all sides. How else will any kids discover the old classics if not paid homage to by other bands. Maybe you would rather they were left to turn to dust.

And hey Alex .. the Rock n Roll hall of fame means jack shit to anyone who knows what Rock n Roll really is.

  • brother you have no clue.....why dont you Wiki Jack White and get an education about the greatest musical genius of the last 20 years....The Dee Jays, LOLOLOLOL....surely destined for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

  • ok well let's see here, you dont like people doing covers of your fave songs and yet, you suggest the kinks version! thats being hypocritical!

  • thanks for the rare footage.i love them.

  • way too awesome can't wait for icky thump

  • haaha i dont think he knew all the words to louie louie

but that was a special and rare treat

    thank you, maryewe

  • ahhhh i love it i absolutely adore jack and meg and that was wonderful
