I simply have no belief. The burden is not on me but the one making the claim. I don't believe in other books as though they are religious oracles. I seek knowledge. Maybe you should try it.
@Ricardius1710 Sure you do believe in those other books as oracles this is how we are built we are believing beings. Nothing is new under the sun. Did you convince yourself that you were being unique in your rebellion? Well at least you found comedy you thought you were being a puppet and now you are a puppet by another name. BElieve God! Wake Up!
@Ricardius1710 Whoever even told you the burden is not on you? That's right you were even taught that garbage of course the burden is on you, you are the one denying God exists.
@Bodhitharta No, the burden lies on the shoulders of those who make the claim. Religion is everywhere. All around the world, there are people claiming the existence of Gods. Atheism might have existed just as long, but it's certainly very young in the fact that we can now discuss our unbelief without fear of stoning or being burned at the stake (aside from third world countries where this is still practiced). Otherwise my friend, I can claim that I have an invisible pet dragon. Prove me wrong.
@iz2sicc I don't have to prove you wrong either you do have a pet dragon or you don't likewise you cannot prove a believer in God wrong because only they can account for their experience and belief so your logic fails there miserably
@Bodhitharta No, my logic works. You just danced around your original claim that the burden of proof is on the denier. I gave you a very good example of where that type of logic leads. Now you are saying neither of us can prove the other wrong. That's not what you said in the comment I replied to. I hope you're intellectually honest enough to concede my point. Atheist's wouldn't have anything to deny if religion wasn't being shoved down our throats. It's even trying to get into science classes.
@iz2sicc Science is the study of knowledge not the facts of knowledge, There is no need for me to prove you wrong because your disbelief is not simply in not believing in God your disbelief stems in not believing in any EVIDENCE of God, understand? I call it the Atheist "Disease" You cannot allow yourself to be intellectually honest for example: What is the evolutionary purpose fer evolving reason?
You are obviously an uneducated and ignorant person who hasn't studied anything critical to your beliefs. You are biased toward your brand of superstition. If you'd test your religion the way you test other things before buying into them, you would find that you've been believing in nonsense. I'm sure this magical thinking has been passed down to you from your mother and is now being carried on by you to your children. So the indoctrination continues. Read some books critical to your religion.
@Ricardius1710 I was never indoctrinated nor am I uneducated or ignorant, I have studied all manner of religion, philosophy, science and technology. I have studied the works of Aynn rand, Niche, Aristotle, Descartes, plus a whole lot more. I have studied the TOE, Writings on atheism. But the difference between us is I have actually experienced God once that happens you "Get it"
I was a conservative Christian. I believed everything that I was taught about the bible and about god. I wanted to become a minster, so I studied Theology, Hermeneutics, Apologetics, Philosophy, and ancient history. I started to find many contradictions, mythological similarities, and scientific absurdities in the writings that are called the Bible. I read books critical to Christianity and I went with the evidence. It wasn't easy and I didn't expect it to happen, but it did. I no longer believe
@Ricardius1710 You should have believed in God it would have been better for you. Saying one is a Christian or Muslim doesn't mean they actually ever believed in God. You may have invested in the teachings and then simply divested when you found them not up to your liking any longer or didn't fit your lifestyle. But did you ever experience God?
@Bodhitharta Yes, at the time, I experienced what I thought at the time, was god. The is William Craig's appeal for experience. It's anecdotal evidence at best. Muslims say they experience god. Oh, have you read any books critical to your religion? I would suggest you read some books by Bart Ehrman, "Misquoting Jesus", and "Gods Problem". Maybe some of Robert Prices books. Then a wonderful little book called "Atheism Explained", by David Ramsay Steele, and "Why people Believe Weird Things, by -
@Ricardius1710 You believed that Jesus was God didn't you? Well, how is it you experienced God when you believed that a man was God? The Bible doesn't teach that so how did you learn it?
@Bodhitharta I don't understand part of your question. Yes, I did believe that Jesus was the second person of the triune god (trinity). What doesn't the bible teach? Experiencing god? I would beg to differ, but we all know experiences are subjective and they prove nothing. Other religions (Islam, hindu, mormonism) claim the same types of experiences.
@Ricardius1710 Exactly the Bible doesn't teach anything about a trune God or Jesus being God. You are right other religions experience God because God is real. God is not a Christian or Jew or Muslim would that make any sense? Religions are understandings of God and when you understood finally that others also understood God your understandings were inconsistent with what was taught. But you went the wrong way. You went from God rather than understand that others understood but is that atheistm?
@Bodhitharta You are another delusional religionists. I guess you are some kind of muslim. I'm not even sure if you know what to call yourself. Hey, maybe you can make up your own religion and you can be the most holy prophet! Any way, if you look up the word delusional, it fits you well. There is no god. The bible, koran, and any other religious text that claims to be the word of god is BS. Why don't you read the books I mentioned earlier and set yourself free from ignorance?
@Bodhitharta Oh, I didn't leave Christianity because of a personal conflict. Most people that know me think that I'm a devout Christian because they way I deal with people. (I'm a cop). I'm also a family man with two teenage children and I've been married for over 20 years.
@Ricardius1710 You left Christianity when you discovered Jesus was not God but instead of going forward you went backwards not realizing Jesus only said he was the way to God but you were worshiping him as God and at some point realized that you were responsible for your own actions, but believe this you will be held responsible to God so keep your right attitude and BELIEVE in GOD as GOD not as a man.
@Bodhitharta Oh, I think I understand, You believe the unorthodox position that Jesus is not God, but somehow secures salvation to those who believe on him? lol! I bet you have enough critics from your own religious circles, since you hold to a heretical position, that was refuted in the third century C.E at the council of Nicea. Anyway, it doesn't matter, my disbelief in god doesn't depend on this any way! lol!
He said that Atheist don't know about god, (I presume he is talking about the Christian god) Well, studies show that non believers actually know about the bible and Christianity in general, more than Christians do. That's actually why they became non believers in the first place!
@Bodhitharta I'm an Atheist and I bet I know more about the Bible and Christianity than you do. As far as living by the principles, what do you mean? Should we stone out children or adulterers like the bible commands? Should we beat out children with a rod? The bible is cherry picked and rationalized to mean whatever the person wants it to mean. I know, I use to do this myself when I was a Christian. I've studied Theology, Apologetics, and Ancient history.
Do you have any idea how incredibly insulting it is to hear someone say that you're going to face horrible punishment for not believing what you believe?
You're basically saying to anyone who doesn't believe what you do, that they can (and will) go to hell.

And about God torturing.. are you saying that God didn't intend for Jesus to be crucified? Isn't that the whole point of God sending Himself in human form to the earth; that through his death, that our sins could be forgiven, thus granting us access into heaven?
@Wittgensteinism I believe in Progressive revelation which means I understand that God is revealed through all things most comprehensively and complete through Islam which declares that there is no god but GOD. There has never been other gods only different understandings of God but ultimately God transcends us constantly in understanding
That's actually less vulgar in my eyes. So do you believe in Hell? Or do you just think that Hell isn't eternal?
Different understandings of God... actually, i really agree with that.
But what would happen if this "understanding of God" actually turns out to just be some fundamental energy field in the cosmos or something? Or what if it turns out to be a neurological byproduct of (dare i say) evolution? Like our Fight or Flight responses..
@Wittgensteinism Hell is eternal for some and for some others it is not. GOD is all those things you mentioned that is why God is Paramount. God is the answer everything else is the question. You ask about an effect and the answer is always BE-Cause
Most Atheists are the only ones that have actually READ the bible. Christians dont read the bible lol. Most have no idea about anything in that so called holy book.
im sorry to say this Bodhitharta but.... u are a religious bigot. u only try to comprehend one religion and not research before you speek. you dont comprehend what others say and take to heart. in one video:athiestic view of death you dont actually know what athies is about if you try and rebutlle my argument i will be glad to debate but until you understand, and comprhend what i believe you are unable to truly talk about what a believe in atheism ect.
BS - Definition - Unbelieveable; surely dumb - Example: "Why Speak o atheist?" video located on YouTube.
It's good to know that you care about people, so do I. Being antagonized by care and love? No, I would be scared if you we're tring to "love" me. Listen, I've converted from Christanity to many other religions, you can't fool us. Why try?
So if you really believe in your bibles word, why are you talking to Atheist? Doesn't your bible tell you not to talk to unbelievers...Prov 23:9 ...or are you just another hypocrite, cheery picking bible verses?
You say there are people who will not listen to u no matter what, but when these kind people attempt to explain their ways of science and atheism to help YOU, you choose not to listen. I find that disrespectful.
A couple of side notes on this particular video. The guy in red seems to be reading from cue cards, not very enthusiastically I might add. Did he draw the short straw and was forced to engage in the obviously contrived question and answer session? I also love how Bodhitharta punches his hand as he explains how he wants to show others the "love of god." A nice example of how, subconsciously and overtly, christians want to beat their religion into all of us.
A fundamental flaw in your logic is that we do not have the proper information and we are therefore ignorant. Do you realize that most of us are shrugging off the oppressiveness of religion and this is what drives us to acquire knowledge in the sciences? For far too long we were told what religion and god were supposed to be. People who are on the fence already have all of the information they need concerning religion and god. Typically that's why they are on the fence, because it makes no sense
all this guy wants to do is get people who are unsure, or pretty much in need of a proper education, and brain wash them into thinking they will be punished for not doing what the invisible man tells u to do, its complete non-sense, if u need religion your just afraid of mortality
I was going to post a video called "why talk to Bodhitharta but i thought it would be rude to answer that question with "because he's hillarious" when clearly he doesnt mean to be.
Do not try and prove me wrong because I saw him and felt his light within me, and you can't prove me wrong because I know it is true because it was also written on a stone in my backyard. I'll be coming to your house soon to hand out pamphlets of his words.
Attention all non-believers! Elvis appeared to me yesterday and told me that he will be returning at Midnight on January 1st, 2008 to play a new song that he wrote while in hell that will make the Loch Ness monster build a house in Candy Land. He said also that the Loch Ness monster's saliva will cure all ailments.
I have made an informed decision. I know alot about the bible. If you love me, then you love me for who I am...an atheist. I have no more darkness in me than you do, we are equals.
Wouldn't worship & belief in general based on knowledge or reason be the antithesis of faith? Abraham is often referred to as the knight of faith. He was in mid stroke 2 murder his long promised & hard earned son at the whim of god. He didnt ask for argumentation, support or evidence. This is the biblical basis of faith. Faith &reasonR mutually exclusive concepts. To accept one is to denounce the other. Blind worship ala Abraham is exactly how one should worship.
ooh look, someone uses logic, reason and subjective analysis to reach a conclusion and it turned out to be pretty stop on, someone else, namely you bodi uses.....god knows (winks) and gets stupid answer, the world makes sense again!.
"David Ussery, for example, found 107 articles on cilia evolution, 125 on flagella evolution, 27 on the evolution of the entire coagulation system, 130 on the evolution of vesicle transport, and 84 on "molecular evolution of the immune system" (Ussery 1999)."
"Atheist" is not plural. The word Atheist is singular. Please from now on refer to one atheist as " an atheist" or with two or more "Atheists" This video could have been tolerable if there had been better acting in it. Other than that great attempt to do nothing but annoy us. Have a nice day!
Me not listening to you has nothing to do with having a hard heart, but because I have an education and have made a decision about what to believe and you threatening me with eternal damnation isn't a "loving" or "caring" as you say your God is. We are not ignorant, we just choose to become EDUCATED! Unlike you, who just believe what you read in a really old book that has been disproven in many ways.
I agree, but how is instilling the believe in a highly illogical theology going to do that you don't need religion for morals, all you need is a conscience, which I have and I'm sure you have, whats so bad about being a good person and just not believing in a god?.
If there is a god, which I highly doubt there is, but IF there is, I am sure that just being the best person you can be will be easily enough for that god!
ok, then it is my mission to deliver you from your ignorance and break away the false shackles of your faith and bring you into the light of atheism!.
Atheist: science doesnt have all the answers and we are trying hard to find them but accept our limitations and proceed using logic and reason
Theist: we believe in the one god, the farther the almighty, maker of the heavens and the earth and we ARE right, you all need to be saved from your selves, there is only one truth, ours.
Again, that's just rhetorical nonsense, I could say that there is so much evidence to support evolution it is a fact, you have called ppl like that arrogant, but if it is the truth, it can't be arrogant, by your own words, so it works both ways, you are just playing with words and not actually making sense!
Please give evidence that doesntv boil down to "lsck of knowledge about something = god" ... if you can provide that I will weigh that evidence quite heavily.
The simple fact that you "know" something is not enough for me. please show me why your claims are true but in a manner using objective proof if you wish to convince me.
The reason us 'ignorant' atheists get a little uptight sometimes with christians is because we're a little tired of you patronising attitude towards anyone who doesn't share your faith. Get your ego under control dude.
atheism is widely opposed to dogma, and its very rare that dogma manifests in a free-thinking brain. members of the brights movement can by definition not be dogmatic.
I am going to discard your comments if you continue not to add anything to the discussion. Can't you simply add to the discussion and then plug your site?
You really have a twisted outlook. It just sounds like you're trying to recruit people who are confused. I hope that not a single person has turned to religion due to any of your senseless videos.
Some how I doubt it. Either way, it's not about whether you say something that I like. I'm more concerned about people actually believing the rubbish you submit to YouTube.
It's the truth! Here I'll prove it. Did the first simple life organisms evolve to replicate or did they form with the ability to replicate? Your answer will be your proof.
And this proves that there is a god? Please, stop deluding yourself and others. Science cannot answer all the questions. And neither can religion. But at least science goes about it in a logical way, striving to understand our world in a completely unbiased way. Religion, (based only on a few religious texts, or even just one) answers these profound questions with nonsense and metaphor.
Normally I wouldn't mind or even care what other people choose to think, but from what I've learnt over the years religious delusion brings about a lot of problems due to it's restrictive and controlling nature. Please retaliate with "Well Atheist do bad stuff too!" because that wasn't my point. Good people do good things: bad people do bad things. Religion makes good people do bad things.
Try to comprehend the full spectrum of what religion has done for human kind over the centuries, then you might understand why so many people counter your wild opinions and beliefs.
I wouldn't blame 'god' for the suicide bomber I blame religion!. If someone whats to believe hat ever they want no matter how illogical, that's fine with me as long as it has no negative effects, religion has proved with unswerving ability to have negative effects where ever it takes route!,FACT!.
Violence is not bound to religion it is bound to humanity as a whole. people are oppressed by their goverments, People are oppressed at their jobs and even at their homes.
Take religion away from the equation and the suicide bomber has no motives to do what he does. Did he lose his family, did he lose everything in some godawful scenario (see what I did there) Take away the notion he will be fast tracked to some martyr heaven and would he still do what he is planning, I think not!
They were molecular reactions that eventually, and luckily, composed into form and life, then divided and replicated. This is not some sort of "evolutionary secret," it is simple biology...
As to sexual evolution. Reproductive organs have been around longer than mammals, such as us, and there are organisms that have both organs and have the ability to choose which reproductive organ to use. (e.g squids and some spiders)
A molecular reaction in terms of evolution is described in the heterotrophic theory, and I am going to spell the whole thing out for you. As I said before, this is not some unknown fact.. We'll apparently unknown to you..
My apologizes, I am NOT going to spell the whole thing out for. But I'm not saying this with any anger, it's just simply too long and complex for a comment's page.
See also, The Origin of Subfunctions and Modular Gene Regulation; Allan Force, William A. Cresko, F. Bryan Pickett§, Steven R. Proulx, Chris Amemiya and Michael Lynch, or Colloquium Papers: The frailty of adaptive hypotheses for the origins of organismal complexity, M. Lynch, PNAS, May 15, 2007
Agnostics don't bother with religion usually. They just say "I don't know" I'm not a fish out of water. Science explains everything. I have a firm grasp of how and why we are here, and God isn't needed in the equation.
How and why are we here and how did the evolution of the sexual reproductive organs occur? You can even google and you still won't find the answer, that's because science hasn't and will not discover how using the ToE as a model because God created Male and Female.
Actually, agnosticism is not the fence, but rather the opinion that the truth value of theological claims (such as the existence of a deity) cannot be proven nor disproven. Furthermore, agnosticism can actually be broken down into agnostic atheists and agnostic theists, who are not unlike other atheists or theists except that they agree with the fundamental claim of agnosticism. In other words, there are practicing agnostic Christians in the world. Sounds odd, but they are out there.
A majority of Atheists put alot of wieght on evidence. If you can prove you are right, atheists will listen. Also don't use kent hovinds or venomfangxs arguements. They use fallacious arguements that have been proved wrong so many times. Using a fallacious arguement will automatically stop most atheists listening.

Atheism is not a religion. It is anti-religious. I would be glad to debate you on any forum of your choice and that goes for any other atheist.

No it is not. It is a lack of religion.
Most atheists have even no clue that there is a god out there nor require one to live happily.

Why try?
SeaHawkSpring 4 years ago
So if you really believe in your bibles word, why are you talking to Atheist? Doesn't your bible tell you not to talk to unbelievers...Prov 23:9 ...or are you just another hypocrite, cheery picking bible verses?

A couple of side notes on this particular video. The guy in red seems to be reading from cue cards, not very enthusiastically I might add. Did he draw the short straw and was forced to engage in the obviously contrived question and answer session? I also love how Bodhitharta punches his hand as he explains how he wants to show others the "love of god." A nice example of how, subconsciously and overtly, christians want to beat their religion into all of us.
tribidemp 4 years ago 2
A fundamental flaw in your logic is that we do not have the proper information and we are therefore ignorant. Do you realize that most of us are shrugging off the oppressiveness of religion and this is what drives us to acquire knowledge in the sciences? For far too long we were told what religion and god were supposed to be. People who are on the fence already have all of the information they need concerning religion and god. Typically that's why they are on the fence, because it makes no sense

"Do not worship blindly"
Wouldn't worship & belief in general based on knowledge or reason be the antithesis of faith? Abraham is often referred to as the knight of faith. He was in mid stroke 2 murder his long promised & hard earned son at the whim of god. He didnt ask for argumentation, support or evidence. This is the biblical basis of faith. Faith &reasonR mutually exclusive concepts. To accept one is to denounce the other. Blind worship ala Abraham is exactly how one should worship.

when he said "god" is evil I think he means that the what is carried out by people with faith based belief in the name of god is evil.
He probably thinks that spreading something as "true" without Empirical evidence is wrong.
He probably thinks that making blanket statements about large groups of people simply because they dont believe what you believe is evil.
cant be sure what he thinks.... but thats my guess

Even if that is true, what point are you trying to make?
joebot1 4 years ago
Re: "The Atheist seems to always want to distance himself from other atheists." its not dissimilar to the "not real christians" argument.
except atheists usually dont deny that others are atheists at all. we just recognise that people are individuals with seperate beiefs.

Me not listening to you has nothing to do with having a hard heart, but because I have an education and have made a decision about what to believe and you threatening me with eternal damnation isn't a "loving" or "caring" as you say your God is. I agree, but how is instilling the believe in a highly illogical theology going to do that you don't need religion for morals, all you need is a conscience, which I have and I'm sure you have, whats so bad about being a good person and just not believing in a god?.

Which position is more arrogant?
you see where I'm going with this bodi my man?
joebot1 4 years ago
It is not about arrogance it is about knowledge. A statement is not arrogant when it is true.
God Bless!
Bodhitharta 4 years ago
Again, that's just rhetorical nonsense, I could say that there is so much evidence to support evolution it is a fact, you have called ppl like that arrogant, but if it is the truth, it can't be arrogant, by your own words, so it works both ways, you are just playing with words and not actually making sense!
joebot1 4 years ago
Please give evidence that doesntv boil down to "lsck of knowledge about something = god" ... if you can provide that I will weigh that evidence quite heavily.
The simple fact that you "know" something is not enough for me. please show me why your claims are true but in a manner using objective proof if you wish to convince me.
That is all I ask.

Bodhitharta 4 years ago
Some how I doubt it. Either way, it's not about whether you say something that I like. I'm more concerned about people actually believing the rubbish you submit to YouTube.
JustAdam7817 4 years ago
It's the truth! Here I'll prove it. Did the first simple life organisms evolve to replicate or did they form with the ability to replicate? Your answer will be your proof.
Bodhitharta 4 years ago
And this proves that there is a god? Please, stop deluding yourself and others. Science cannot answer all the questions. And neither can religion. But at least science goes about it in a logical way, striving to understand our world in a completely unbiased way. Religion, (based only on a few religious texts, or even just one) answers these profound questions with nonsense and metaphor.
JustAdam7817 4 years ago
Normally I wouldn't mind or even care what other people choose to think, but from what I've learnt over the years religious delusion brings about a lot of problems due to it's restrictive and controlling nature. Please retaliate with "Well Atheist do bad stuff too!" because that wasn't my point. Good people do good things: bad people do bad things. Religion makes good people do bad things.
JustAdam7817 4 years ago
Try to comprehend the full spectrum of what religion has done for human kind over the centuries, then you might understand why so many people counter your wild opinions and beliefs.
JustAdam7817 4 years ago
Good people never do bad things intentionally. Don't blame God for anything that mankind does it is illogical.
Bodhitharta 4 years ago
I wouldn't blame 'god' for the suicide bomber I blame religion!. If someone whats to believe hat ever they want no matter how illogical, that's fine with me as long as it has no negative effects, religion has proved with unswerving ability to have negative effects where ever it takes route!,FACT!.

They were molecular reactions that eventually, and luckily, composed into form and life, then divided and replicated. This is not some sort of "evolutionary secret," it is simple biology...
VirDolorum1 4 years ago
What is a molecular reaction? Please share! As I do not believe you can explain.
Bodhitharta 4 years ago
As to sexual evolution. Reproductive organs have been around longer than mammals, such as us, and there are organisms that have both organs and have the ability to choose which reproductive organ to use. (e.g squids and some spiders)
A molecular reaction in terms of evolution is described in the heterotrophic theory, and I am going to spell the whole thing out for you. As I said before, this is not some unknown fact.. We'll apparently unknown to you..
VirDolorum1 4 years ago
My apologizes, I am NOT going to spell the whole thing out for. But I'm not saying this with any anger, it's just simply too long and complex for a comment's page.

Most people on the fence are becoming agnostic/atheist. You dudes have no evidence. I'm not agitated by you, I just find you dudes ridiculous.
baconeater 4 years ago
Agnostic is the fence if you didn't know. BTW, The evidence is everywhere around you. You sound like a fish in water asking what is water.
Bodhitharta 4 years ago
Agnostics don't bother with religion usually. They just say "I don't know" I'm not a fish out of water. Science explains everything. I have a firm grasp of how and why we are here, and God isn't needed in the equation.
baconeater 4 years ago
How and why are we here and how did the evolution of the sexual reproductive organs occur? You can even google and you still won't find the answer, that's because science hasn't and will not discover how using the ToE as a model because God created Male and Female.
Bodhitharta 4 years ago
Watch the videos in my favorites. It is all explained. Science has very plausible theories regarding the sexes.
baconeater 4 years ago
Actually, agnosticism is not the fence, but rather the opinion that the truth value of theological claims (such as the existence of a deity) cannot be proven nor disproven. Furthermore, agnosticism can actually be broken down into agnostic atheists and agnostic theists, who are not unlike other atheists or theists except that they agree with the fundamental claim of agnosticism. In other words, there are practicing agnostic Christians in the world. Sounds odd, but they are out there.

Demonic spirits, man, what are you on? Don't tell me you believe in exorsism too?
Like Dave says, most Atheists are extremely sensitive to evidence.
And also very (negatively) sensitive to physical impossibilities (you know, the stuff the bible is crammed full with)
Atheists don't 'hate' anymore than any other people and i think it's even fair to say they probably hate (people thinking differently) less !!
Let's hear what else you have to say (B's law up next)
mindwis3 4 years ago
I'll help you.
