  • Video was worth watching for the target centre screen, much love.

  • sexy vid babe you made me about 2 times better

  • Just wanted to say, good vid man, I enjoyed it. Some of it I knew already, but I did pick up a few tips here and there. I learned the hard way about positioning myself in huttball (lots of time to think about it as you run back upstairs.) I'm lvl 34 and damn has it been rough, there are times when I can take a guy and other times where I feel like I'm stabbing the with a spork. I don't get a lot of medals, but I do get tells after the match is over from people, and that's reward enough for me.

  • This probably would of been a good guide but it was plagued by opinions of a average at best PvPer. This WoW era copy and paste how to PvP guide needs to be scraped redone (tbh a hour worth of stuff an only 4 minutes of it was informative) btw just like pve once people start copy pasting specs an viewing vids of others peoples strats for PvP WZs Arenas Rated BGs become rather droolish and boring) Can't wait to see you in the Rated WZs or Arenas(Cause if they don't swtor's pvp will be null)

  • @TheMrCRWhite Hi. If you're against PvP guides, why did you watch a PvP guide?

Was there something that I said which you think was wrong?

Some of the guide was for beginners. A beginner would find it helpful. I am sorry that you are not a beginner, and did not need that information.

  • @ Roger,

Thanks for all the work you put into this video! I have recently started playing the class after being fairly bored with the story and companions of the Sith Sin. I still wanted to keep with the stealth/melee combat option so the IA Op appears to be a good option for me. My question though is right now, I'm only lvl 13 and so the class feels real squishy in PvP and that it doesn't appear to compair well with the Sin at the same level. Can you help me with why the IA is better?

  • @finalpatriot911 i can't really say why you would pick up an operative over other classes at the moment, but one thing i can say for sure: it's a late bloomer, you'll get the vital skills very late, around level 30-36. Before that just brace yourself and stick to a tree (medic worked for me)

  • @m0rpai Is that mainly because of the nerf? My main goals in a class is to be viable in PvP (1v1) while having a great story and decent companions. So far, the Sin is a blast in PvP though somewhat low on burst DPS but the story/companions leaves much to be desired. Leveling one was easy though as you get all your main abilities right up front.

  • @finalpatriot911 Hi Finalpatriot911. I'm not convinced that the IA is better than the SIN. The story was fantastic, but I think the operative is a weaker class. Our burst damage was greatly reduced in the recent patch, which is fine. It was too high before. My problem in PvP is that the Operative is a melee class, but has no sprint/charge/pull/ranged stun. You will always feel squishy, as your only Def CDs are a self-shield and cloaking screen.

  • Good job stabbing noobs there. Useless guide.

  • @spigot88 Sorry you didn't enjoy it. The guide is a discussion of abilities/timing/position/rotations and decision making. Everything in the guide is relevant no matter who you're fighting.

  • Chossi, is the sniper viable in pvp? If not, what is a decent ranged pvp class that doesnt use magic?

  • @Dark51d3r Yes, sir. Snipers do tons of damage. However, you have to be amenable to the cover mechanic. Play to level 10 and you'll see what I mean. If you don't mind going in/out of cover all the time, snipers can do ridiculous damage.

  • thanks a lot for the detailed video, it surely helped me even if i never played this spec. I'm playing mostly as healer, but even if im nearly always on top healing chart, i get so few medals, i guess cause i'm still level 46 and have spent all talents in the medicine tree. Would you think that a spec like 22/15/0 with surgical probe and precision and lacerate would fare better in warzones? I could still heal decently and dish out some damage.

  • @m0rpai Yes, if you're looking for a hybrid, that's not a bad choice. If you get the free backstab with improved crit chance, it can do quite a lot of damage. Many people are also running medicine/lethality hybrid specs which you might find interesting.

  • @rogerculbertson i tried the hybrid spec medicine-concealment yesterday and i had a blast! my healing output dropped by a small margin but i was able to deal decent damage for once, and i could even win on 1 on 1's with many classes, where before I had just to hot myself and flee. Went from 3-4 medals to 7-8! I wonder if this spec will still work at 50. What is your healing spec, do you go 31 pointer in medicine or not? As many said already, it would be cool to see vids of you as healer : )

  • @m0rpai Hi m0rpai. Glad you had fun with it. My current healing spec is 31 pt pure healing, but that's partly because I am AOE healing on the bridge in Ilum.

I will consider putting up some healing videos, but I think it will be boring =D. In the 50 bracket, people do massive damage, and since operatives cannot spam heal targets, people just flop over in 2 seconds.

  • How hard will the nerf hit this class, what do you think? SO many ppl out there getting panic, rerolling etc. making more out of it as it is actually. Whats your opinion?

  • @idddq Hi Idddq. I can't quite say yet, and don't want to speculate while it's on the PTR. When it goes live I'll spec back to concealment and give it a try. In whole I feel like the operative is already weak, and there's nothing to do outside of dailies, so I have been leveling a Jedi Guardian for fun.

I am happy to see balance changes, but concealment operatives will need help after the patch goes live.

  • HOW LONG DID IT TAKE U TO UPLOAD THIS!!!???!!

  • When the nerf happens, this guide will still be relevant right? I have just started and it would be a shame if this was for nothing. I'm going to be coming back to this guide as a base of what to and not to do. :)

  • @Darkmoone1 Hi Darkmoone1. That's a great question. Yes, everything in the guide is still relevant post-patch. However, they may still adjust the changes before the patch goes live. Everything I said about picking targets and positioning and using all your abilities, not just HS/BS/Shiv/Lac will still be true. The play style won't change at all. If you like stealthing around on kids, then stick with the class. I do believe operative is one of the weaker classes atm.

  • at 1:22 instead of cloak+shoot first, I tend to use sab charge and quick shot to finish healers off. sameish damage and you dont use up your cloak CD

  • @pkConda That's a good observation, sir. I didn't talk about cover mechanics in the video because it was getting so long. However, the main reason that I prefer to go for Hidden Strike (shoot first) is for the knockdown. I need that in case they don't die to interrupt that heal.

  • The thing about operatives is, we have only 2 stuns in combat. Hidden strike + skill tree ability is extremely important.

I can't 1 v 1 most geared level 50's in this tree if I cant get in stealth

  • You should make a more updated video of you in pvp, now that you aren't against lv1-49.

  • @archchunk Hi archunk. Sorry, but the amount of time it takes to produce something like this prevents me from redoing it every patch. However, everything I talked about in the guide holds true at any level, in any bracket, and in any patch. The abilities/positioning/choices I make against level 50 are identical to those discussed in the video.

  • Thanks for the comprehensive guy, this must have taken you a lot of time to put together. I have the big advantage of just starting as an operative (lvl 20 - needed a difference from playing sorc healer), so by the time the nerf patch arrives my experience with the class will not be comprimised at all, as the skills that I currently use will not be affected as it seems. One thing I noticed is you never use carbine burst at all. Is it completely useless? Sometimes i seem to get ok crits from it.

  • @Asphyx123 Thank-you, sir. Carbine burst isn't too bad, and I should probably use it more. You should definitely play around with it. I used it all the time while leveling.

  • Nice video, good tips. I had plan since I learned of the classes to make a OP agent as my alt once I leveled my Sith Jugg tank to 50 and you my friend gave me some great ideas. I have alot to look forward to.

  • This is a great guide and I can tell you put a lot of work into it. Would be nice to get a little update for when the nerfs hit live servers.

  • @Rapscallion084 I may very well release a short video clip post-1.1.1. You can keep an eye on my channel for that.

  • Thanks for the great advice in this vid, Chossi. Not just for Operative, but I picked up some useful tips for general play. Positioning during fights and timing, etc.

I've been mostly healing with my 50 Operative. Tried a similar spec to the one you play in the vid but I found it hard. Wish I'd seen this vid before then. :)

Would you do a similar vid for the healing spec? That would be so useful to me as I know I'm not doing as well as I should be. Other classes seem to be better.

  • @spengos1 I may make a healing guide, but at the moment I feel as though healing is fairly simplistic. The operative healer is the weakest of all the healers, so if you feel like other classes are doing better, it might not be you. It might be the class.

  • You have any post nerf footage? It'd be nice to see how much of a nerf Ops took.

  • Chossi, is the Scouting ability in the Concealment tree any good? I would imagine added stealth detection is useful to prevent other ops and assassins from getting the drop on you.

  • @doxide Hello, sir. Yes, if you want to play with talents a bit, I would start by dropping Culling from my build. It's 3% damage for 3 points. With those points you could get Scouting, Inclement Conditioning, or Survival Training.

Scouting is very useful in a small, limited number of situations, but yes it's great if you're dueling another stealth class.

Survival training is fantastic if you are playing with a healer, and 6% endurance isn't bad either.

  • Great guide, Chossi, thanks! I picked up a couple of really useful (I expect) tips. In particular, I have been grossly underutilizing Orbital Strike and Sneak. I plan to respec to Healing after the Concealment nerfs hit, but hope to have a bit more fun going stabby-stab before then.

  • @cz4ever1 Thank-you, sir. It's easy to forget about some of our abilities, or to assume they aren't very good. That's why I like to play around and try things out. You never know, they might turn out to be effective. Sneak is one of those abilities you want to teach yourself to use reflexively.

  • hows operative in the 50 only bracket now?

  • @plasticsword2 Great question!

    1. Players have ~4-5k hp more than the bolstered low-levels did. In terms of me killing people in my opener, this means that I can seldom 3-shot a level 50. So, people almost always survive my opener if they begin at full health. However, I am usually at such a large advantage that I will still kill them, just a few seconds later

    2. People do more damage. My damage is about the same, but when fighting groups, I die much more quickly.

  • Dude... HS+AB then shiv and then BS+AB = more dmg at the beginning. HS+AB then BS is just stupid. And i don't get why 90% of all OPs are doing it, its just not a good rotation.

  • @idddq good video btw.

  • @idddq Yes, I think people just haven't thought it through, and that's one of the reasons why I discussed the opener in such detail. It turns out that when you rearrange things a little bit, your damage can really climb. Even better is AB+HS > AB+BS > cloakingscreen > AB+HS. But then, it often seems silly to waste the cooldown.

  • @rogerculbertson yeah tahts right. its funny if you see someone you dont like, to waste CS on them to kill them very fast. :D otherwise i dont like to waste CS for that actually. keep up good work.

  • @rogerculbertson What do you think about Incisive Action vs. Slip Away? Im using Incisive Action, because if do heal alot actually, myself and sometimes others. I dont mind the 0.5 sec on inject, but the TA gain after a heal is awesome. Do you think you need debil up every 30 seconds instead of 45? I have very often fights, where i just don't need it at all actually.

  • @idddq Yeah, these are all good choices. I have had several different specs which I have been happy with. The one in my video wasn't meant to be the perfect spec, it was just the one I was using at the moment. I love debilitate, and use it all the time, even on targets I'm not attacking.

  • Great work. Keep it up.

  • Great Video Chossi. Good to see some extreme detail for the newcomer and vet alike.

    Ballsdeep

  • Really nice guide. I used to be an Operative Healer, but now, thanks to you, I'm surely gonna respec to check your build out. Thanks for all your tips, there were many new things I didn't knew and especially I like the "Center Screen Selection", that is gonna helping big time!

    Keep it up!
