she is right lets move the focus on something else. Why is it we attempt to pick people apart when we ourselves have not recorded any thing, or made cd's of the quran. Why find fault, when you yourself has not presented anything...soon you will have to give account and there lies your concentration!

Darktee is correct. "Istawa" in Arabic has 15 different meanings. Istawa can also mean maintain or has power over. It is better for Muslims to utilize these meanings rather than using sit, therefore it will not resemble Allah to the creations.

For the english speakers, most of us are greatful it is translated. However the minor gramatical errors has nothing to do with our faith in ISLAM. Islam is forever and nothing can touch our iman!!!!!

Brother it is very important to get the correct meaning. The is nothing minor when it comes to understanding the Qur'an. A "minor" error can be the difference between Islam and kufr, which ultimatly is the difference of Jannah and hellfire.

The translation is wrong. How can Allah SubHanahu wa ta^ala "seat himself on the throne"? Please take care when putting translations on the internet. The istiwa does mean sit but i has if i can remember 7 other meanings, on of them means 'to have a higher rank', if I remember correctly. That is more beffiting for our glorious lord. Allahu ^lam.

Why cant he do that? Its just like saying: how can allah have names? Allaah can do anything that he wants, if he wants to sit on a throne than he can. Oh yeah and by the way there are about 7 diffrent ayat saying that allah IS ON THE HIS THRONE.

Well they are translated incorrectly, and are from the same translator. Brother think logically. How can Allah SubHanahu wa ta^ala resemble his creation? And if istiwa has 15 other meanings as the brother corrected me, then why take the one that degrades Allah? It is kufr to believe Allah resembles his creation in anyway.

No it is kufr to say that allah can not resemble his creation, i am not saying that he does, But allah can do whatever he wants. Just like allah can SPEAK the quran he can have hands and a throne. Allah has all the power. if allah wants to resemble his creation on the day of judgment when we see his face he can do that.

just a correction of the translation 'then seated himself upon the throne', the word 'stawa' does not mean sat in this context because it would imply a weakness to almighty Allah. (ie we sit because we get tired) Allah does not get tired and also he does not resemble anything in his creation therefor if we translate it to 'sat' then we are putting Allah within the confines of a space on a throne, and we know that he exists without a place.

The arabic word 'stawa' could translate to about 27 different meanings in the english language depending on context. a more befitting translation could be that He is protecting the throne, or he is watching over the throne.
