  • @coolcelt1 no just really tall

  • @jokerhalo1 He was only 5'11".

  • @MrRobertJameson really i was told he was taller

  • @jokerhalo1 Liam Neeson was badly miscast in the film, being too old and too tall to play Collins. Neeson should have played de Valera with Brendan Gleeson as Collins.

  • Its a well known fact in the irish history community and academia that Michael Collins was a homosexual.

Bent as old nails he was

  • @CathalD04 and if he was.... so fucking what. spa

  • Although a beautiful song, one of the lines is inaccurate. Michael Collins died at the age of 31.

  • who sung this?

  • love the nod and wink at the end, Mick! :D You will NEVER be forgotten!!

  • My class was to go see "Iron Lady"...if we skipped school, we'd be given 3 hours of detention. I skipped & stayed home w/ my buddies & watched "Michael Collins" instead. My teacher asked why I could possibly not want to go see a movie about Thatcher, & I responded:

"I wanted to learn about a true hero. A true leader who fought for the nation I love. Fuck their Union Jack, I want my country back. I want to see old Ireland free once more." TAL ;)

  • @slapshot37GNR exactly! :D

  • @Chloe24421996 Thanks, & by God I love his nod & wink, too. A true leader, eh? If I could be 1 billionth of what that man was, I'd die a happy man. If I could die for the beautiful land of Ireland...well then I know I'd be greeted by Saint Peter & a nice pint of Guinness at the Gates of Heaven. Hope I could meet all the brave Irish Rebels, IRB members, old IRA members, & Prov. IRA fighters up there. And maybe I'll see you up there as well. TAL ;)

  • @slapshot37GNR What more could be said?A great a fearless General!Surely he sits with the Saints as he himself was just this and much more!GRHS!

  • Greetings from Hellas, too.

To Collins, IRA and United Ireland, follow link

  • RIP Collins and Moulin two men who were killed before their work was done all thanks to the British

  • @YADempsey97

  • @civilwarfreak1 Yeah but the Brits kinda started the civil war

  • please, who is singing this song.

  • MY GREAT GREAT GREAT UNCLE (NO KIDDING

  • @RichardElden

Terrorist? He only targeted soldiers and spies and fought for Democracy. That doesn't fit any definition of terrorist I've heard. I can't say the same for the British Army, the B Specials, the Auxiliaries and the Black and Tans can't say the same.

  • @mst3k4evur dont bother with eden he is just a troll

  • Comment removed

  • @RichardElden terrorist? Michael Collins - Director of Intelligences of the Irish Republican army.

  • @hhhhhhhhhhhhhhgfdse dont bother with eden he is just a troll

  • @92eire poor brainwashed brits, we know the truth. someone said that ireland benefited economicly from the British empire!!!

  • @hhhhhhhhhhhhhhgfdse lol i dont think benefiting from the brits economically was worth 800 years of torture

  • @92eire i wouldnt even call it economic benefit, maybe to the anglo irish families but the normal people were enslaved on their own land with landlordism

  • @hhhhhhhhhhhhhhgfdse we benefitted nothing from the brits

  • Who killed Michael Collins? Was it the British? Was it the Ulster Protestants?

  • @istanbulbob irish opposed to the treaty

  • WHo recorded this? I don't recognise the voices....

  • Things could have been very different! If only the two personalitie's could have worked together it is impossible to say what could have been achieved in ireland and for Ireland. I wonder when people die and let's say for one minute their is a place called heaven, can these people possibly settle their differences there? If so I would like to hear the conversation between M.C and E DV! Ireland lost one of their best when Michael Collins was cruely gunned down. Rest in peace M.C Rest in Peace.

  • Long Live Ireland from Hungary and Bulgaria.

  • god bless ireland im from germany.. i hope i die there

  • May his name always echo through out Ireland

  • RIP Mick Collins are great and brave leader

As his word do not be afraid to fight what u beleive in

  • mick collins an irish hero, irish legend

  • per una pensera di a CORSICA COLUNIA FRANCESE

  • And our nation includes everyone. Black, white, strfaight, gay, you're all the members of our nation.

  • look up thomas Breen. He liberated us from being slave minded. We were nothing before him. Thats the father of our nation.

  • Don't you as well have the feeling that all these people's efforts are in vain, since the EU - which is spearheaded by those old great powers like France, Germany, England - dictates our rules and our laws? I am from Belgium, a small country alike to Ireland, and I feel this way. They may have left our soil, but they are still very present in our parliaments and indeed our laws.

  • The son of Ireland... he fought the Brits and got killed by his own countrymen... how ironic... and all of that because some people just could not understand...They did not uderstand the treaty, they did not understand the Sunningdale... some of them do not understand even today.... and I would call them the traitors... Míċeál Ó Coileáin you are the Father of Ireland, you are my hero...

  • micheal fought for the cause a true republican we needed people like him to gain independance

  • It sometime seems as though the only thing Irish nationalists agree on is that every other one is a traitor. Just seems that way, to judge by some "discussions." The problem w/ many an "idealist" is that they are so obsessed w/ their perfect attention to one or two ideals, they forget to attent equally to all the others as well. Seems to me, Collins had the good sense not to allow the perfect to become the enemy of the very good. He got a free Ireland where before their was none.

  • May his good name endure forever....The Cambodian freedom fighters salute Michael Collins...

  • Have any relatives shot in their beds? Did you know he wouldn't

have batted an eyelid over exterminating the clergy?

The dev-il-era almost over in Ireland - sounds like eamonn de valera.

yep "condolences to hitler" de valera. Checkout Ballyseedy Cross & what irishmen did to irishmen.

  • This is the Man that made Ireland. He was and always will be the Heart of Ireland. May his memory live forever.

  • who is singing this, brilliant song, of all the songs about the big fella this is the best

  • God bless you Michael Collins!

  • @deeman1992 If anyone was the traitor it was Éamon de Valera. He is the one who sent Collins cause he did not have the balls to make the tough choices himself. he is the one who say out the majority of the conflict in the states, getting rich... Michael Collins, no matter what is said about him today was a true patriot. May God keep in always!

  • Michael Collins, greatest ever Irishman. I've been to his home birthplace, near Sam's Cross, and the place of his assassination at mBeal na Blath. He was the brains behind the fight that brought the mighty British Empire, in Ireland, to a standstill post 1916. Long live his spirit and memory. Mo chara, dias muire diut a Micheal .

  • @wscotty59 Truer word were never spoken.

  • A very good tribute, I must say, it brought me to tears. Collins is truly my hero, and one of the best people ever to have walked this earth.

  • Michael Collins the true Creater of Guerilla Warfare.

  • God bless the big fella. I would have bought him a pint if he was still alive. A tremendous man and a beautiful song

  • Collins ya bollix! Ill see you in hell, and Ill break the gates of heaven with you...

  • Collins death just showed what a screwed-up self serving criminal kleptocracy the IRA was, has always been, and still is. A bunch of criminals praying on their own poorest and most easily intimidated and stood over. The IRA and the Unionists are responsible for many crimes against humanity and all irish citizens, and there are lots of them today . . IRA, Sinn Fein, and Unionists leaders alike. . . who should be in jail instead of living high on the hog.

  • gettin a tattoo for him next year :)

  • A great patriot

  • some powerful song,ha he used to cycle past the brits at nite and say good nite to dem cause they didnt no what he looked like haha, some brave man and clever

  • i support the IRA 100% but killing him done this country no favors at all, yeah the north was not freed but if you think he would have sat back like the cunt De Valera did and watch the north turn out the way it has i dont think so. the IRA shot the man who freed more than half the country , more than any other man ever did for this country and people have the neck to say he turned his back on this country are fucking dopes , RIP MICK IRELAND'S GREATEST HERO

  • @burnthebrits AMEN

  • Fantastic video.Bless you,big fella.

  • What I call a man and belongs to us. He gave his life for Ireland.

He always was a hero and always will be a hero. . R.I.P. Michael Collins

  • What I call a man and belongs to us. He gave his life for Ireland.

He always was a hero and always will be a hero. . R.I.P. Michael Collins

  • Michael Collins did much to advance the Gaa in its early years Why has he been forgotten by them. Is there a Gaa club in Ireland named after him ? Is there a stand in any of the major stadium,s named after him? Is there a trophy with his name on it ? I doubt it. Dev was more of a rugby man , which was his choice but Collins was a Gaa supporter who convinced the government of its day to part fund the purchase of Croke Park. Shame on the Gaa. Michael Collins RIP

  • can anybody tell me where i can hear the ballad of micheal collins song,''hang out your brighest colours??

  • Eirinn abu!!

  • Mick Collins IS Ireland.

  • up the free state

  • led ireland to there first taste of freedom then got killed by his own people-sums ireland up really-irish people need to stand side by side regardless of politics and religion and learn to live together in a united free ireland

  • thats correct so I'll give you thumbs up (:

  • @1888gp Irish Through and through like a man i never knew. Irish need to stand together and make thier own decision. Michael knew the orange and green and gave them them thier freedom to choose. We modern Irish need to trust our nations soul and abide by our peoples voting right

  • if i could meet any person dead or alive it would have to be michael collins!!..pure legend

  • We will always be proud of Michael Collins. His spirit will always live in the hearts of every true irish man ,woman and child. He gave his life for his country and the irish people ,we will always remember him as the one true son of erin.God bless him.

  • R.I.P. Michael Collins remembered forever as the man who made Ireland had you lived maybe things would have turned out differently surely Ireland would be 1 united country 32 not 26 by now you were a very good man with good ideals and you gave your life for your country which makes you a hero in my eyes and never will change my thoughts of you

  • A true hero. Anyone who seriously thinks he's a "traitor" because of the Treaty is a fucking idiot. Sorry but it's true.

  • Quite right !

  • I would've sided with the "The Big Fella" for three reasons...

    1. I think he did the most of the hard work both fighting the British and at least securing a semi-independent government in Ireland.

    2. DeValera called for civil war; putting the country through unnecessary bloodshed which resulted in Collins' death (perhaps DeValera set Collins up to be killed).

    3. Had he lived, I believed Collins could've helped settled things with the North (perhaps The Troubles wouldn't have occurred).

  • Devo was interested in self glory

Collins in the glory of the Irish That was the difference he was set up from the moment he got on the boat

  • @godstar so true

  • @deeman1992 i hear you.he's a man of ireland.rip micheal collins.a tru irish man.my only wish is i wasnt born in the late 1800s just to stand my your side.you'll always be a hero

  • @deeman1992 "Now as one of the signatories of the document I naturally recommend its acceptance. I do not recommend it for more than it is. Equally I do not recommend it for less than it is. In my opinion it gives us freedom, not the ultimate freedom that all nations desire and develop to, but the freedom to achieve it." Michael Collins

  • @deeman1992

He wasnt a traitor but should have rejected the Treaty...and just accepted British rule as a reality until the next time it was to rise up and fight for all of Ireland.

  • @deeman1992 do not apologize to those who would say he was what he wasn't! darn it if the people would have used the treaty as a springboard the way he intended there would have been no bloody sunday, no internment camps, and no separation of Ireland. we would be one and free if they had bonded together and fought for the north we would not have the tensions between England, and Ireland

  • @deeman1992 Well Said Mo Chara

  • @deeman1992: Ah, well is it O.K. to say he fucked up just a bit? I mean seriously, his first mistake was agreeing to go I.M.O.....

  • excellent

  • Very brave man who gave his all for Ireland always !

  • legend a great man

  • Michael Collins IS a legend. A GREAT, GREAT man!!!

  • Mick was a fuckin LEGEND!!!!!!!!

  • It was De Valera that wanted the pro and anti treaty sides to go into coalition but it was Collins that decided to call it off.

  • Love that smile of his! Great video. 5*****

  • other than my Great Uncle James Connolly . Collins was man to trust . We never Trusted Devalera, he sold us out.............30 pieces of British Coin
