  • this is why american cars can only get 200 horse power from a 6 litre V8.

  • why does the title say metric?

  • lol America

  • i think this goes under "conversations i wouldn't have if i used the metric system instead of the imperial and my poorly developed brain"

  • Then why is eveything American built more desirable world wide loss on the metric system.

  • @gypsychris1031 what are you even trying to say?

  • one inch = 25,4 millimeters. No wonder the confusion! Fact of the matter is that the Americans wanna do things their own way, no matter how much more difficult it is.. only time i'm dealing with inches, is when I'm buying subwoofers. Can't go wrong there---> 10 " 12 " 15" and 18". no reason to convert it;)

  • 600th comment!

  • Please remove the graphics.

  • this was classic OCC at its best.

  • wow.. they do GOOD work up to a point..but I have to tell you, if I was having a chopper made in ANY shop.. and I standing there listening to them do measurements in Imperial.. then they are NOT doing my bike. I should be hearing metric or decimal.. NOT "standard" imperial measurements. They are going to be doing machining and other precision work.. imperial is NOT up to that task like metric is. WOW... and THEY own a shop.. mind boggling

  • @mxferro

Majority Americans won't buy a chopper from your shop if you do *metric measurements* , only douchy bag commies have metric systems. This is why the chopper shop booms and yours will very likely close.

Lol, sad but true. Apart from scientific community, majority Americans(your customers) HATE metric, despite they are mathematically challanged, they stick to pain-in-da-ass imperial while non can convert unit quickly.

  • @zhengjdc

Only the US has the imperial system. Xenophobic much?

  • @zanuha Nah, UK use alot of imperial (being the inventor of the measurement), however officially 'metric', there's still large use of measurements being carried out in Imperial. I use it myself, on purpose some of the time.

  • @zhengjdc "Apart from scientific community, majority Americans(your customers) HATE metric,"

Apart from sciencific community, the majority of Americans are STUPID and that's why they hate the metric system.

  • @SuperThe86

I thought you have to be pretty intelligent to love imperial measuring...becoz all the conversions, you can't do them easily with your head...LMAO, sorry for being sarcastic.

  • this is not the metric system you gooff

  • I would just call that "a little bit lower" and leave it alone.

  • imperial was invented like 300 years ago. metric is easy

  • Yeah, I see no reason why we use the imperial system. Here is another instance of this kinda bs expect 125 milion dollars went down the drain: google metric mishap nasa 125 million

  • @lashnjo IKR? I keep telling all the imperial retards but they don't give a crap.

  • IMPERIAL

    SUCKS

    BALLS

  • @mroliverstephenson A 3rd grader could figure that out (96 millimeters by the way). Fail.

  • @mroliverstephenson

Damn... DUDE. Will all do respect, you fail. The metric system is SUPER EASY... You don't need to think to convert anything within the same system.

How can you argue against Metric system which is Used in Engineering, Medicine, Rocket science and most of the world?

The imperial system is crap and I am not being bias since I grew up on it. That crap should be killed already.

  • @mroliverstephenson Converting fractions is more difficult than basic subtraction. Think about at what grade you learnt subtraction vs when you learnt about fraction conversion. Metric wins. Far more simple.

  • @mroliverstephenson easy answer for u fuck? metric system is not only about mms u got more units like cm, m, km. so 1746 mm would be = 17.5 cm much more easier than 7 1/4654654. douchebag...

  • @mroliverstephenson If you can't figure out what is 1842-1746, you sure as hell can't figure out 7 1/4-6 7/8. Stop fooling yourself.

  • @mroliverstephenson <------ STUPID MOTHERFUCKING DOUCHEBAG

  • @mroliverstephenson The strength of the metric system is that you can _always_ and very easily convert everything to whole numbers. No fractions or need to deal with "x inches to a foot, y feets to yard z yards to a mile" it's always 10mm to 1 cm, 10cm to 1dm, 10dm to 1m... and it goes with lengths masses and everything else.

While the numbers may be seemingly bigger, they are very straightforward and easy to calculate with pen and paper.

  • @Mtaalas WITHOUT pen and paper*

  • @Serostern Oh yeah... that's true :D

  • We're already on our way...

Do you not see the km/h on your speedometer?

Do you not see the L and mL in nearly (if not all) every single bottle in America?

Do you not see that the # of km and km/h road signs are increasing?

Do you not see the scientists using metric?

  • @mainchow10 We dont by american cars, THEY SUCK!

  • @gislemark79 Umm... american cars have both km/h and mph.

  • @mainchow10 Yes, but they suck anyway.

  • @gislemark79 Oh, I get it, it's because they have mph.

  • lol i had 2 watch dis in skool

  • @DuelMasterShobu Really? Theyre showing this clips in school? Or is it a clip from the actual show?

  • @bodanerius THIS ACTUAL VIDEO WAS SHOWEN IN DUBQUE IOWA THOMAS JEFFERSON MIDDLE SKOOL

  • @bodanerius btw luv the vid

  • @bodanerius Thats awesome. Say hi from me :)

  • imperial sucks

    metric rules

  • Geez Guys the funny part is he doesn't come up with the same measurment twice...not that he's measuring in inchs ,,not centimeters

  • The only thing that can beat this is how the danish count numbers ;)

  • I've lost track of measurements they're throwing around and I think they have too LMAO... they should just remeasure it already and save themselves a headache XD

  • Comment removed

  • Convert to metric American infidels :D

  • @archis84 no the rest the world needs to converts to our system , we all know its going to happen anyway.

  • @coldbloodid Ha, you really think that 6.5 billion people are gonna convert to imperial? Wow lol fail

  • Comment removed

  • @coldbloodid No I don't think so, I know so.

  • @mainchow10 wrong

  • @coldbloodid Why do you think that? Because you think everyone is like you? Or are you just retarded?

  • @coldbloodid wow you're stupid

  • @coldbloodid At least I'm not stupid enough to copy comments.

  • @mainchow10 but you're a stupid loser for not letting this ago for so dam long , seriously was this little argument on you tube on your mind after all this time.

  • @coldbloodid You're a hypocrite for saying that. Maybe I didn't let this go, but so did you. And you're even stupider for saying that.

  • @mainchow10 "stupider" dude lets just let this go alright ,lets end this meaningless argument.

  • learn both. 0.03937. there you go.

  • Someone once claimed Americans are more intelligent because it´s harder to learn the imperial system than the metric system.

I´ll let everyone make up their own minds about that idea, but i think this video pretty much makes my opinion and point clear on that idea.

  • Im multilingual when it comes to metric or imperial, but imperial thread sizes still fuck me up though.

  • i have no idea what the hell they are talking about

  • A sad day in human history... why to things an easy way when you can do it the hard way. The human condition?

  • @DaylightRobberyCA It's instilled in culture. When you go to Europe it sound's awkward saying "yeah I'll have that 120g burger"...

  • @DaylightRobberyCA You'r just use to the imperial system. "A gallon of milk is a good size, but 2L is too much and 1L is not enough."- this is not an argument, it's your personal preference. The imperial system is primitive. It reminds me of times when people used elbows and feet too count distances because they didn't have measuring equipment. As for argument for the metric system:

    1. One unit of measurement for each physical quantity

    2. Scalability by prefixes

    3. Decimal system

  • Comment removed

  • @DaylightRobberyCA

Yeah, and? With the metric system, you have exact numbers on the content of that can. 330ml. What would the imperial system use for that? Half a gallon, however much that's supposed to be? Third of it? 6/8's of it? Or, and actually, that wouldn't surprise me, just invent a new unit and call it "Can"?

  • Comment removed

  • @DaylightRobberyCA What??????? 4x250ml cans=1l. 2 cans =0.5l. But why are we arguing about cans? Scientists everywhere even in the US use the metric system. I wonde3r why they refuse to use fingers, nails, boards, feet, rods, pins, logs,cans.1. Its complicated, it's complexity is based on its archaic origins. 2. It is utterly unpractical 3. Almost no country except the US is using it.

  • Metric's inappropriate divisions are compounded by the fact that metric is based on abstract scientific principles which are aloof from everyday uses. As fascinating as equations such as the one governing the length of a meter are to scientists, metric measures are not always best for the vast diversity of human activities such as construction, surveying, cooking and weighing new-born babies.

  • @seezarorest actually, Not One unit of measurement for each physical quantity. It is even better: One unit of measurement for ALL physical quantities. Do you know that 1 Liter of water is 1 cubic decimeter, weights 1 kilogram, freezes at 0 Celcius and boils at 100 celcius ??

  • lol this if funny no matter how many times you see it

  • It's called a piece of paper, a writing implement and some simple arithmetic.

  • this clip is way funnier than it should be

  • If you like the American Choppers check out my spoof Chestnut Choppers. Thank you.

  • @TeamProDUCKchuns Metric is by far better, Only reason I don't use it is because I have to deal with The American alternative. Nothing against Americans. But I absolutely think that standard is ridiculous. Seriously a joke. Frustrating thing is even here in Canada 90% of the time tool distributors here usually stock standard over Metric aswell. So alas we all have to choke down inches and foots and fractions and blah. This video sums it up nicely. METRIC PEOPLE, metric makes Ferrari's :)

  • Everyone fuck off, if u use imperial then good fr u, if u use metric then good fr u! no one gives a flying fuck. But month b4 day is a little fucked up...

  • @ironicchance Yeah I give a flying fuck, because everytime I interact with some retard online whether I need something or whatever the case is, I have to convert from your shitty imperial system that no1 else uses.

And just because Americans rule the internet for some reason, we see pounds, cups, feet, yards, inches and ounces everywhere, and you retards don't even know yourself how many cups there are in a ounce and so on.

Why the fuck do you use that shitty system? Like seriously.

  • @sh0werp0wer Ok first of all, i use the metric system as i live in NZ. Secondly, i have a 'do whatever the fuck you want' attitude. US rules the internet as its one of the few countries where internet is available almost anywhere. Lastly, there is handy thing called a converter which magically turns yards into meters and miles into km.

  • @sh0werp0wer don't you mean how many ounces in a cup? that'd be 8 ounces in one cup :) And I'm not a yank!

  • @andyg3 LOL I wrote a comment opposite of that and now it's top comment.

  • poor rick is scared to tell that fat walrus sr he is wrong

  • Please use the metric system or else you'll go past 100kg (220 lbs) and don't care untill you are 300 pounds!

  • @Brute4rce Take it easy dude :) No ones perfect

  • @bodanerius I find it ironic that he uses ignorant and gay both as insults in the same sentence.

  • @Brute4rce What do you mean OUR youtube, and WE invented??? youtube was invented by a guy from china a guy from germany, and a guy from america.

  • @Brute4rce First of all, how the fuck do u INVENT Youtube? There were plenty of video streaming sites before Youtube, Youtube was far from invented, it was just another knock-off but it got lucky and got really popular. And more crime? Dude, USA has the highest crime rates within all western countries, I live in Norway and we barely have crime, lowest murder rate in the world! Yes, we can't arm ourselves, but you have higher firearm related deaths PER CAPITA than Brittain and Australia COMBINED.

  • @Brute4rce

    1. YOUR YouTube? YouTube was etablished by an US-American, a chinese and a german guy. XD

    2. The traffic system in Europe for example couldn't be better and compared to you, we can handle with the manual transmission. ;-)

    3. We don't need to arm our selves BECAUSE we don't have such horrible crime rate like you. ;-)

  • @Brute4rce Hey, i'm from (and still live in) "Cali". you are getting a negative review from me too. I agree with bodanerius, take it easy.

  • @Brute4rce

Why the fuck do you speak OUR language which WE invented you dumb fuck!

  • @Brute4rce you had nothing to do with the creation of youtube numbnuts, you just happened to be born in the same country as the guy who did invent it. chill the fuck out

  • @Brute4rce Yeah sure.

  • im from america and use the measurment that we use, but in science class a few years back we learned about the metric system and all the measurments, and id rather use the metric system

  • @BGLooney95 The way it should be. I havn't gotten why you wont change it already. My guess is:Republicans. From what I hear they're pretty conservative.

  • @SnoweyMan111 the reason why we have our own system is because USA thinks theyre all cool (which they are), not bc of republicans

  • @BGLooney95 I doubt that. Because

    1, your name indicates that you're 15.

2, your youtube profile says they're from south africa, not the US

  • @SnoweyMan111 it says that im from south africa because i wanted to get youtube honors, i am from usa i live in NY

  • @BGLooney95 Well that's lame. Still, just because you're a citizen i don't think you know what everyone thinks.

  • @SnoweyMan111 well i dont care what other people think

  • @BGLooney95 And that's probably why you guys use imperial.

    haha how ironic.

  • @SnoweyMan111 nah, usa is amazing

  • @BGLooney95 I think you didn't get me there. Either way, I' think Sweden is amazing. And it is. In most aspects. I think id think the same about the US if i lived there. From my current point of view. The things that bug me about my current country doesn't affect me. It's stuff like that we're selling weapons to countries that we're not allowed to. By our laws. On a national scale. But that doesn't affect me. On the other hand. In the US i see lots of stuff that's fucked up, that would affect me.

  • @SnoweyMan111 what did you see that is fucked up? by the way, sweden is gay

  • @BGLooney95 And god hates fags too huh?

(google it and you get my joke)

Well anything in a Michel moore movie. Of cause I don't take his movies as fact, he makes money of them. But I researched alot of things he mentioned. And most of what he says is true, some of it is rather bent truth than truth.

How is Sweden gay? SCB (Statistics Central Agency, in Sweden) say that 2% of the Swedish population openly admit they're gay.

Where as 2.9% in the US does the same.

Sweden is happy though. US isn't?

  • @SnoweyMan111 lol calm down it was a joke, u dont have to do all of that research hahahaha

  • @BGLooney95 Didn't do it for your sake :D

    I'm kinda nerdy :P

  • @BGLooney95 ur a commi

  • I like Americans

  • Definitely a good demonstration of why metric is superior when it comes to actually needing to MEASURE quantities.

It boggles me why American's are so opposed, but it doesn't matter as one day they will eventually be using metric too (unless we change all base 10 units to base 2, 6, etc, but not likely)

Still, when you learn imperial from day 1, it becomes easy to you. Rick knew the values right away, its cuz Paul Sr. kept fucking up and telling them completely different numbers !!

  • lol, I like the way it says "AIRGAS" on the pressure vessel on the bench. haha

  • xD its just very funny :P

  • I can imagine a conversation between an American and a German about cars: "My car goes from 0-60 mp/h in 5.9 seconds." The German says "Mine goes from 0-100 km/h in 6 seconds. HA! My car is faster than yours German. Nein, it is not. 60 mph = 96.56 km/h, 62 mp/h = 100 km/h. Your car is slower than mine American." (American gets sad face.)

  • haha these guys must puff the good greens!!! they are burnt!!! haha good show!!

  • We are unable to use the metric system..........................half of all classes have that chris rock wannabe in the back of the classromm that makes learning fractions too difficault, Imagine trying to learn the metric system and all ya hear is shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit mofo shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit is hawd, then hearing another say "I heard that" than all the whites go i better laugh or ill be an outkast! cant fit in unless I dumb myself down! Oh well teachers fault anyways, gotta blame someone.

  • @BIGRED224FOREVER you bigoted piece of shit. dont go blaming black folks for your shortcomings.

  • this is so funny

  • did any other aussis see the yellow sign in the background

  • @arrkram

    yeh I saw that, lol

  • Stupid americans :D LOL

  • America is fucking stupid for using the imperial system, fahrenheit and writing months before dates. I mean, WTF?

  • @murlocforlunch Be nice now...

  • @bodanerius Oh yes, yet I still find extremely imperialistic when I see on an international forums demanding questions such as "feet, please!": I mean, we really made most of the path speaking in YOUR language, and yet many of you retain necessary that we (the rest of the world) adopt your local units, while only Liberia, Burma and the USA have not adopted the metric system yet. How about switching compentences: YOU write in French or whatever, and WE use your system?

  • @wollin20 awwww can't do math in your head? need to measure everything by 10's? pft lol

  • @oJKBo Si tu préfères, on échange, on adopte tous le système impérial irrationnel, mais toi tu réponds en français! awww, can't learn a foreign language! pft, lol

  • @wollin20 LOL FRENCH IS FOR FAGS!!! ONLY FAGGOTS SPEAK FRENCH, REAL MEN SPEAK ENGLISH OR SPANISH. FRENCH IS ALMOST AS GAY AS ITALIAN

  • @oJKBo Idiot, how can an entire language be gay ? If English is straight how the hell is half of the USA filled with gay bastards.

  • @lnenad rofl french is gay because french PEOPLE speak it -- and you do realize that more french men have had more erotic experiences with other males than in any other country right? FACT

  • @oJKBo And greek men are believed to have had gay experiences in the sth bc. century, that doesn't make greeks gay.

  • @lnenad it did back then lololol

  • @oJKBo :D you just won't give up

  • @murlocforlunch apparently itl cost nasa billions to transfer over to the metric system. haha.

  • @timlotze

There is no way Nasa built a space capsule in inches. No way.

  • @murlocforlunch How tall are you? How much do you weigh? in centimetres and kilograms? i'm 5 foot 10 and i live in Canada, no way in hell i would even know how tall i am in centimetres even though it's on my driver's lisence somewhere. Metric system is good for the Olympics, but it ain't all that....

  • @quincee33 I measure my height and weight in cm and kilos, i guess thats normal in most of the world actually. There's almost no reason to convert metric units, but as long as Americans keep using the imperial system we'll have to remember how each unit relate to each other.

  • @murlocforlunch

but its us Americans that run this world, the rest of the world are our puppets.

  • @LennysComet

Try running america without oil, or anything you import from Europe and Asia, and tell me how well that works.

  • @Y0cke We have our own oil too

  • @YZtwostrokin Sure, but not enough to run the entire country.

  • @Y0cke I think what's probably going to happen is that we're going to wean ourselves from foreign oil. It will take a while, but it will happen.

  • @LennysComet

dude, you live in the united states of debt, so the rest of the world owns you, so who are the puppets now, huh?

your dollar is so damn cheap, so we buy everything you own for peanuts. we buy your land, houses, old cars,

you name it, while you don't sell shit, because you have nothing to offer that the rest of the world wants, puppet!

  • @3DPeter They do make the best movies and tv show.

  • murlocforlunch,

True, but the rest of the world is equally stupid for not speaking English. The entire world should be using the metric system and speaking english.

  • @sdold Why English? Why not Chinese- more people speak Chinese than English? Why not French-it's sexy and quite popular? Maybe Spanish or Italian? I think everyone should learn their native language and there mus be an international language that everyone should put the same effort to learn. It has to be sexy, simple and easy to learn. Such a language "Esperanto"was created but because no superpower promoted it (as they did their languages), not many people speak it.

  • @seezarorest

Does the term "lingua franca" mean something to you? Just because english is the trade language now doesn't mean that it'll stay that way. Spanish and french didn't either, after all.

  • @Stinkehund No, Lingua Franca doesn't mean anything to me. That's the problem with foreign languages, the words don't mean anything. Heh heh.

Seriously, you're not going to get the world to convert to "Chinese", that would be pretty goofy. Only the Chinese are going to be interested in speaking Chinese. But if they want to make it big in the rest of the world, they're going to need to start learning English, not French or Italian or Swahili.

  • @sdold I think that in the current geopolitical reality we should start learning Chinese ;)

  • @Stinkehund My point is that the international language shouldn't be a language of the current superpower. Everyone should put the same effort to learn it. It should be easy to learn. It has to be neutral (not linked to ant country). Finlay it should be esthetically nice. Learning a neutral language is easier because it is not seen as foreign intervention and doesn't have the negative connotations. (usually the conqueror imposed his countries language on the conquered ).

  • @seezarorest No, the international language is already English for many things, such as aviation. Since it has a head start, it should be English. It might be that Mandarin (I assume that's what you mean by "Chinese") is spoken by many more people than English, but it would be pretty hard to make a keyboard with that language as native.

English is already on its way as a second language for many of the world. It should be the standard language. One's native language should come second.

  • @sdold It is now but so was French, Spanish and Latin. The Chinese language consists of many dialects and Mandarin is one of them, so Mandarin does not equal Chinese. Are u suggesting that Chinese don't use keyboards? The facts are that its hard for you to learn Chinese, but it's also hard for a person from China to learn English. Why not make Esperanto an international language, you can master it in few months instead of learning Chinese or English.

  • @seezarorest Yes it's hard for me to learn Chinese, but fortunately Chinese (again, I assume you mean Mandarin due to its popularity) is not going to be the language of the world.

If you go to Wikipedia's home page and look at the number of articles written in the various languages. English outnumbers them all by a wide margin, because English is fast becoming the predominant language for people who deal with the rest of the world (not Chinese rice paddy farmers).

  • @seezarorest Chinese is not a language. There is no language called Chinese. There are two popular Chinese laguages: Mandarin and Cantonese which are usually referred to as Chinese. Mandarin is not a dialect of Chinese. This is saying the Indian language and saying Hindi, Kannada, etc. are just different dialects of Indian. This has nothing to do with your discussion, but just thought I'll clarify the point.

  • @murlocforlunch hahahahah i think they on metric

  • @murlocforlunch Yes, it show how is better than your shitty country!

    Isnt that weird?

  • The imperial system is anacronic. It's based on body parts inch - thumb, feet. There was a time where the smallest measurement necessary was about the size of a thumb, anyone's thumb. As technology advanced more fine measures were needed but there were no smaller body parts so they went to half an inch; then later quarter of an inch, and naturally the progressed to eigth, sixteenth and 32th of an inch, and they could go no further.

  • The metric system has one unit for distance, one for volume, one for weight and so on. Furthermore, they're all beatifully linked to each other:

volume to distance - a liter is 1000 cubic centimeters

volume to weight - a liter of water weights one Kilogram

0 degrees Celsius - freezing point of water

100 degrees Celsius - boiling point of water

1 Calorie - the energy required to raise the temperature of one liter of water one degree Celsius

    ....

  • @amieres123 Yeah, but Calorie is not SI-unit, so it's not really part of metric system, Joule is the right unit for energy, and it's beautifully linked to power and time (1J is the amount of energy which is transferred with 1 watt power in 1 second.)

And actually 1 liter of water is not actually one Kilogram, temperature of course changes water's density so it's not exact.

And SI-unit for temperature is Kelvin, not Celsius, although it makes no difference in temperature differences.

  • The US should use the persixtyseventh instead of the % ! It would be much clearer!

And don't forget to invent your own unpractical time measurment! Hours, minutes and second are used everywhere, don't be like everyone!

  • @inesis IKR?

  • The funny thing is that the US military uses metric system...
