  • Great stuff, cheers.

  • Ok just found them via matrix synth, wicked:-)

  • @topazuk cool. i've updated the method for sending gate/pitch CV to the gakken to something simpler and more flexible. i'll post new files (ableton 8) and an quick explanation vid soon.

  • Brilliant, did you by any chance share the live set for this project? Sx150 on its way from Japan to uk -)

  • Just connect the CV-out GND to the GAKKEN GND and you don't need to loop back like you did =)

  • @Kubbuth Thanks, you're absolutely right. I installed a proper grounded CV input to the Gakken after filming this and it works great.

  • very cool! espeacilly like how you have the lfo's setup.

  • i have a presonus firestudio mobile interface.....where do i connect from to go to the Gakken? how do i find out if it passes CV signals?

  • @BabyDropHead does the cv signal come from s/pdif? sorry i still learning

  • @BabyDropHead i don't think the presonus interfaces pass CV, though i could be wrong. you might check out Silent Way (CV plugin), as they've figured out a way to make CV work through non-DC coupled devices.

  • awesome... do you have a map of volume levels to cv pitch?

like a map of volume levels to notes?

  • no... the tuning on the gakken is really unstable from day to day so i never bothered.

  • is this all abelton modded? you don't actually need to midimod it (with fx an arduino-kit) to control it? love my gakken, would be thirilled to be able to use it as an analog synth.

  • that's correct. all you need is an audio interface that can pass CV signals. MOTU is a safe bet.

  • So could I theoretically just run an output from a mixer, lay the stylus on the plug, and route the output of the gakken back to the mixer??

  • that might/should work, but it depends on what type of signal your mixer is capable of sending. i'd give a try.

  • very nice!!!

  • thanks much! (also... huge nortec fan, here. YEAH.)
