@dnbAsP After growing up with a herd of bassets, I've gone this experience several times. I think they're hypnotizing their human companions, telling them " feed me, feed me, feed me.. and let me sleep till noon.. ". I swear those animals have personalities - And I treasure every second I got to spend with them growing up. They will love you to death, especially when you're a small child. I live very near the white house, and my condo assoc. does not allow animals. I'm heartbroken.

@dnbAsP Just an aside- Bassets really are pretty bright (just stubborn). I used to play this game with ours- we would square off on the floor - he down on all fours, me as well, nose to nose, about a foot apart. The game was this- If I could tweek him on the nose, I won a point. If he lunged over and licked me (like a dog kiss) on my cheek, HE won a point. Each time I got a point, he would howl and run around, & come back for more. He was really good at it. We'd hug and call it a draw.
