This will shut you all up. Put about 15 hours into Spacemarine already (xbox360) and the SP is okay at best. A couple WOW moments here and there but to few and far between. The MP is broken and the community will die in weeks just like homefront and brink. Its p2p across all three platforms. PC is getting it the worst with 20 to 30 minute lobby times and no dedicated. GG get gow3 and BF3 or mw3. Spacemarine is bad because of the Devs making it p2p.
@SheagerBurger obviously you don't know the relic/thq/warhammer community. coh and dow were both either trash or so-so at launch with multiplayer but relic patched them up to be the balanced fun games that tons of ppl play. so stfu and go play whatever you want, but after beating the campaign and getting to lvl 41 online i think this game takes all the good stuff from cod and gears and makes a better game. and i trust relic to listen to their players unlike epic games or blizzard

@Nightshaft98 Congrats...you got lucky, across the board most pc users are facing long ass lobby wait times and having more lag issues than console AND console has no local server search so joining an australian host makes the game unplayable if you're connecting from the states. As I said before, the community for this game will quickly die especially with gow3 around the bend
@brattyHunter1 Gears of War released 2006, Warhammer 40,000 released 1987. Warhammer inspired GoW and countless other things in its history (WoW was a direct rip off of warhammer fantasy that they made as they were refused the warhammer rights).

the only section of the space marines i used in the board game was the dark legion, was never really interested in the ultra marines, they just seemed to "good" of a character. I prefer good guys who have a darkside, such as animal mother from full metal jacket =p

@valeqorn Warhammer always has being one of the best games i ever played, the stradegy from board games like 40k and lord of the rings style, up to the Dawn of war Pc game, not saying im a complete nerd or a wierdo, but im saying that i am a fan of warhammer, yes mostly because of its stradegy, but also for its theme, Spacemarine is another stage for all warhammer fans to show that by adding gore, stradegy and detailed graphics, a game can be made with excelence, so i aggre with you sir :D
@MrDarkscale totally!! I love the sinister Dark Age feel to 40K, I think it really adds a lot to an IP if the world they live in isn't perfect. The same things that drew you to 40k also drew me to it YEARS ago. I love strategy games, but what really hooked me was growing up I painted model airplanes and what not, well you couldn't really play with them when you finished painting them. In 40k, not only could you build and paint the models, but you got to play with them afterward, Win Win ;)

I think I like Gears better, the story and characters are better imo, but I'm definitly getting this it looks pretty legit. @dooshsayswhat yeah, ive read a good portion of em, and i still have most of my guys from when i played the game, gears is better though, better characters, story, weapons, the enemies are cooler, and gears 3 has better gameplay,but space marine beats the gameplay of both gears 1 and 2
@aginger491 more then the demo has been released for gears of war 3, in fact they've shown most of the scenes from act 1, and yes, from what ive seen of space marine, although its probably because ive had 3 games to get to know gears of war, it doesn't have as good a narrative as gears of war 3
@MayorBoom You just proved my point. there's not a lot of narrative in Space Marines that we know about because all that's out is a demo. One has no place in saying one narrative is better than SM because nobody really knows about the narrative. Unless of course if played Dawn of War or warhammer 40k table top. And I think the narrative of the 40k universe is much better and more substantial than the gears universe.
@aginger491 Yeah there is more in this 40K universe, but there is a difference between quantity and quality and while space marine surely has more to it than gears (more races, equipment, worlds,etc.) gears of wear takes it down to a personal level, one planet, one group of heroes growing shorter as the conflict continues, fighting for survival against 2 races of foes. And they have already revealed the characters to Space Marine and the story, and it is nothing compared to Gears of War.

SM is one group of guys trying to save one of their colony worlds from two other races bent on the destruction of humanity because they feel they kill everything. GoW is a group of guys fighting one other race because that other race are hippies who don't like the humans destroying their homes so they go and make them blow up their own city
@aginger491 space marines are just people made to be tanks on a fucking crusade, while gears of war is a game where they're actually trying to survive. the gears are actually made out to be human, while the space marines are just basically made out to be superhumans, basically what halo did with its spartans. you dont feel like you're actually fighting for anything, you're just having fun killing things as a badass, where in gears of war you play as badasses, but you actually get to know them.

There characters in Gears have been some of the more developed characters in videogame history, of course not compared to games like mass effect or kotor, but for a shooter they pretty well developed. ultramarines are like halo's spartans, they arent exactly human and all u know is that they fuck shit up

@pnelad14 All of the characters are well developed except for lt kim and anthony carmine from the first game, they've foucsed on the stories of every character once they realized how well excepted gears 1 was, and even continued their stories in other material such as comics and novels. because lt kim and a carmine died before they realized what they had their stories were never extended. If you pay attention to what's going on in the gears universe you realize what a great story they have
@pnelad14 especially seeing as how many questionsd are raised in the story and need to be answered. gears 1 was a battle, gears 2 was a war, and gears 3 is planetary but taken down to a personal level with the characters, where even that yelling character who seems to be having a good time, augustus cole, will have his background explored when they are forced to go to his hometown to look for supplies, and they'll even continue further on dom when they go to maria's hometown
@pnelad14 so far, nothing at all in warhammer 40k universe, including space marine from what ive seen so far, but i cant judge that until i get my hands on it, even compare to the gears of war universe, keeping in mind im a huge warhammer 40k fan, and even played the original warhammer when i was growing up with my uncle and cousins. I've explored numerous books and comics of 40k as well, and my opinion is, which obviously must differ from yours, that the gears universe is more interesting.
@pnelad14 also you may be more impressed with gears 3 when it comes out, as it isn't just epic games making the story, they've pulled in a professional author named Karen Traviss to make gears 3's storyline, and so far every book she's written, a good portion of which is gears books, have been bestsellers

And the Space marines are not on a crusade, you clearly know very little of the 40k universe so please don't try to act otherwise or the full might of games workshop will descend upon you.

lol this is like a fast paced 3rd person tank shooter with no cover system crossed with a brawler.... meeeh you stand in a hord of guys button mashing combos and executing enemies over and over again to regain health. That requires some skill but not a whole lotta strategy involved compared to other games. I got tired of it pretty fast. I like using Melee as a last resort or something that I do when I run out of ammo but this game encourages you to always do it. what kinda tps is that???
@TheRunescapeStylist I noticed... thats really not my idea of a 3rd person shooter tho. You are definitely gonna do more brawling than shooting in this game. They deliberately give your guns limited ammo and excluded a cover system just so that players would be forced to wave their swords around hordes of enemies for hours doing the same combos, the same executiongs over and over again....

the only section of the space marines i used in the board game was the dark legion, was never really interested in the ultra marines, they just seemed to "good" of a character. I prefer good guys who have a darkside, such as animal mother from full metal jacket =p

@valeqorn Warhammer always has being one of the best games i ever played, the stradegy from board games like 40k and lord of the rings style, up to the Dawn of war Pc game, not saying im a complete nerd or a wierdo, but im saying that i am a fan of warhammer, yes mostly because of its stradegy, but also for its theme, Spacemarine is another stage for all warhammer fans to show that by adding gore, stradegy and detailed graphics, a game can be made with excelence, so i aggre with you sir :D

@MrDarkscale totally!! I love the sinister Dark Age feel to 40K, I think it really adds a lot to an IP if the world they live in isn't perfect. The same things that drew you to 40k also drew me to it YEARS ago. I love strategy games, but what really hooked me was growing up I painted model airplanes and what not, well you couldn't really play with them when you finished painting them. In 40k, not only could you build and paint the models, but you got to play with them afterward, Win Win ;)

One has no place in saying one narrative is better than SM because nobody really knows about the narrative. Unless of course if played Dawn of War or warhammer 40k table top. And I think the narrative of the 40k universe is much better and more substantial than the gears universe.

@aginger491 Yeah there is more in this 40K universe, but there is a difference between quantity and quality and while space marine surely has more to it than gears (more races, equipment, worlds,etc.) gears of wear takes it down to a personal level, one planet, one group of heroes growing shorter as the conflict continues, fighting for survival against 2 races of foes. And they have already revealed the characters to Space Marine and the story, and it is nothing compared to Gears of War.

SM is one group of guys trying to save one of their colony worlds from two other races bent on the destruction of humanity because they feel they kill everything. GoW is a group of guys fighting one other race because that other race are hippies who don't like the humans destroying their homes so they go and make them blow up their own city

There characters in Gears have been some of the more developed characters in videogame history, of course not compared to games like mass effect or kotor, but for a shooter they pretty well developed. ultramarines are like halo's spartans, they arent exactly human and all u know is that they fuck shit up

@pnelad14 All of the characters are well developed except for lt kim and anthony carmine from the first game, they've foucsed on the stories of every character once they realized how well excepted gears 1 was, and even continued their stories in other material such as comics and novels. because lt kim and a carmine died before they realized what they had their stories were never extended. If you pay attention to what's going on in the gears universe you realize what a great story they have

@pnelad14 especially seeing as how many questionsd are raised in the story and need to be answered. gears 1 was a battle, gears 2 was a war, and gears 3 is planetary but taken down to a personal level with the characters, where even that yelling character who seems to be having a good time, augustus cole, will have his background explored when they are forced to go to his hometown to look for supplies, and they'll even continue further on dom when they go to maria's hometown

@pnelad14 so far, nothing at all in warhammer 40k universe, including space marine from what ive seen so far, but i cant judge that until i get my hands on it, even compare to the gears of war universe, keeping in mind im a huge warhammer 40k fan, and even played the original warhammer when i was growing up with my uncle and cousins. I've explored numerous books and comics of 40k as well, and my opinion is, which obviously must differ from yours, that the gears universe is more interesting.

A firm, honorable soldier with a "by-the-book" leadership style, Kim led the mission to rescue Marcus Fenix from Jacinto Maximum Security Prison despite his reservations about a man he regarded as a deserter. He does not appear to fear the Locust and has killed many of them even when outnumbered. In and out of battle, he has an inexhaustible amount of energy that seems to amp up people around him. And with his childlike humor he was able to lift the spirits of the fellow Gears.

@aginger491 Though Cole has a darker side, every night Cole writes a letter to his dead mother saying all the things he could not tell her in life, a custom practiced by many Gears. Cole has turned down a promotion to Corporal. He believes there is no point in promotions, only in killing Grubs until there are no more to kill. While his natural energy and exuberance were for real, he exaggerated it around his squadmates in order to cheer them up, and instill confidence in them.

lol this is like a fast paced 3rd person tank shooter with no cover system crossed with a brawler.... meeeh you stand in a hord of guys button mashing combos and executing enemies over and over again to regain health. That requires some skill but not a whole lotta strategy involved compared to other games. I got tired of it pretty fast. I like using Melee as a last resort or something that I do when I run out of ammo but this game encourages you to always do it. what kinda tps is that???

@TheRunescapeStylist I noticed... thats really not my idea of a 3rd person shooter tho. You are definitely gonna do more brawling than shooting in this game. They deliberately give your guns limited ammo and excluded a cover system just so that players would be forced to wave their swords around hordes of enemies for hours doing the same combos, the same executiongs over and over again....
