I would've let it go if they cancelled it for saturn, but if SEGA allowed the PC version, I would have loved to get that... not only is PC superior; it's the longest-going gaming system to be out there.
Love this song, even if the soundtrack in general was kinda hit or miss IMO. On another note, am I the only one that notices how cross-eyed Sonic is in this pic? O_o
@Cam3leon The soundtrack isn't official which is why it's mostly hit and miss. Chris made the soundtrack to aid him in getting creative sparks when he was designing the enemies, levels and so on. This song is particular is the most notably best song out of the whole soundtrack because Chris used it to present his tech demo's.
Also Sonic does slightly look cross-eyed, but not by a whole lot.
@Nitrous0x What kind of self respecting Sonic fan would be playing the masterpiece called Generations on a Xbox? The PC was like Sega's second console, seeing releases of their games alongside their own console ports even as far back as Sonic CD. No, the Steam (read: PC) version is the superior port, and the one I own.
The original Space Queens is that low quality video that is in the video response section, but this version you're listening to, is the remastered version remade by Chris Senn. The original one was made back in the mid 90's and this version was done in mid 2000's. Both done by Chris Senn.
Listen to that song by RayWilliamJohnson called "8-bit" world and tell me if you notice the similarities. I know I did and I hope I'm not the only one.
how old is sonic xtreme? i wish to send sega a letter so i can tell them so they can fix the mistakes then they can release it on the sega saturn and also xbox 360, wii, and play station 3 and that would be it.
@animeist72 It wasn't made to compete with Super Mario 64, Sonic Xtreme had been in development under many working titles and game engines since 1993, but it was cancelled in 96/97, because the game hadn't really been developed much over those three years, it was just lots of planning had to be done.
so evreyone what do you know that sonic xtreme was cancelled. man i wish sonic xtreme was fixed and then it will go on sega saturn and also wii, xbox 360, and play station 3.... that's sad : (
i wish they would fix the game like the graphics and engine. than they release it on sega saturn and maybe wii, xbox 360, and play station 3 that would be great. : )
@BabyLuva1001 I believe it's because Sega wanted to release the game for the Christmas holidays in 1997, but the game was still under development and Sega didn't want to release it later. There was also many issues with the graphics engine, so the team developing the game just gave it up. Yup, I wish to have played the game too. What a waste :(
Oh, you know what would be badass? If in Project ASXS they made a CG intro that goes along with this song. A lot like Sonic CD only more crystaline. Yes, crystaline. A great way to describe this song.
They should put this in a current Sonic game. It sounds like a good RPG theme. This should be in Sonic Chronicles 2 (assuming there is one still being made...)
I never really liked sonic games, but Sonic X-Treme man, that looks like something that would have blown my pants off! Also, i couldn’t care less about 16 Bit Trancefrom the 90s, but this song is playing up and down in my playlist. Thanks for sharing.
@Nitrous0x Wow I'm kinda surprised that someone who was a Sega game developer is found on the internet now-a-days, especially because he hasn't forgot about this game and has something to do with the game despite it being cancelled a long time go
There were lots of reason why Sonic X-treme was canceled. I'll name a few. A few crucial SEGA employees got sick for weeks. Chris Senn was one and he almost died. The game changed game engine's and consoles a lot. The game went through development hell basically and it also was not going to make the deadline Sega was hoping for, so it was cancelled.
@Nitrous0x That sounds awful, but I don't get why some other people could have worked on it instead when they were sick, or have the people take a break and just extend the deadline. Ah well
why is not meeting a deadline a reason to cancell the whole thing all together?
I'd understand that being a reason to slow down and focus more on other things, but not totally destroy any chance it has of ever being played by the general public.
@Nitrous0x wait, so do u actually hav a relationship with chris senn? hav you ever asked him if it was still possible to finish the game and finally releasing it to the public? id be so happy if that happened
No I don't know him in person. He has his own forum where you can talk with him and ask him questions and stuff related to Sonic X-treme. I asked him one day if he could extend Space Queens because I felt the one he had originally was too short and he did it. Also he can't finish the game as he doesn't own the game's engine. Ofer Alon owns it and he won't give it up and there's no way we're ever gonna get our hands on the game's engine to finish the game.
Well, a real easy way to get in contact with him is make an account at Senntien forums, then go to the Sonic X-treme compendium. I own an account there, also, Chris' username there is kurisu and his icon is a little thumbnail of a limbless waddling Sonic.
There was going to be a PC version of Sonic X-treme? Stupid move by Sega imo, doesn't that contradict the whole idea of X-treme being the supposed system saver for the Saturn?
That is of course, no disrespect to what Chris Senn was able to achieve during it's short development span.
Yeah the final two systems it was going to be released on was the Saturn and PC. The PC version was different from the Saturn version. So there was actually gonna be two different ways to play Sonic X-treme. Something to compare it to is the Xbox and Wii versions of Sonic Unleashed. Two completely diff. games but same storyline.
1 idiot missed the 'Like' button. I don't know what egotistical world that person lives in, but this music is awesome. It is quite an uplifting little tune -- it's helping keep it together so that I may finish high school. That's how much this piece is starting to mean to me. It almost makes me want to cry a bit. =')
hopefully, like the boss theme, which was an unused track from sonic 3d blast, theyll put this one in the next episode. . . if they have an ice themed level, that is
lol no need to. I already know who it was. It was a user named Fabio. He was pretty much a troll. Go through the comments and you should see him saying why it sucked.
Hopefully someone will take the leaked resources, program an engine for them to run on, release it for PC and Mac, and then work on a Saturn-friendly version that you can burn to disk to play on the Sega Saturn! It should also have sprites that look like the original Sonic X-treme sprites, but are higher quality.
This is real sonic music right here not the bullshit rock music.back when sonic was focused on speed and gameplay now its only about graphics(which are horrible on sonic 06) and too much fucking characters (chip is so damn annoying on sonic unleashed) the orignal creators would be pissed off of what the new creators had done to this.P.S i miss ryan drummond(original voice of sonic):((
Wow are you serious? Chris must have taken down the Sonic X-treme archive. You're gonna have to wait a day or two so i can get the mp3 file from my old computer because this mp3 file isn't hosted anywhere else.
@EternalREWIND Chris Senn, a programmer for the canceled Sonic X-treme made this as a placeholder track. You might be able to download more at the Sonic X-treme archives. You can probably find it on Google.
Nope, Chris's X-treme archive has been down for months now. With Chris being busy with stuff in real life, he hasn't had the time to renew the domain because hxc is no longer supporting it. All of Chris's music is in one place only and that's his archive, so don't expect google to help much.
@Nitrous0x O, that's too bad, the site was cool! I was only there once, and was going to go there again. Maybe someone who downloaded all the tracks could get permission to upload them again.
I think i downloaded all the tracks off his archive but that was a while back and i downloaded them on my old computer. I would have to dig threw my computer to find them. That's how i was able to recuperate the mp3 file of Space Queens.
What probably was the greatest Sonic game cancelled. Sad, really.
Great news though, the PC version has just had all resources (except the engine) dumped. Yes, even the levels, someone has made a level viewer for them too.
Yeah, i know i saw that! Awesome stuff! I got to view Crystal Frost in Fisheye. Dude i really wonder if that anonymous person who dumped them was Ofer Alon because isn't he supposed to be the only person who owns the Sonic X-treme editor? It makes sense don't it.
you clearly dont know what what makes music and plus sonic's best soundtracks have generally been funk, hip-hop, pop, new-jack swing, electronica, jazz, and rock oriented with a generally upbeat, quick tone. This is just random slogging electronic noise.
I wasn't listening to it on speakers, and please, it's fucking low quality Sega Saturn music, don't act like it's a symphony orchestra we're talking about.
Sega Saturn music was CD quality music jack ass, also this was not meant for the Sega Saturn but the PC version and please no more replying back unless it's coherent if not i'll mark you as spam as you originally were marked as
And you misunderstand what I said. I said it was low quality Sega Saturn music, not that the Sega Saturn was only capable of low quality music. And at the time of the game's creation there wasn't going to be a PC version so obviously the music was meant for the Saturn. And uh oh! A spam threat!!
Wow i just saw this comment and yes there was going to be a PC version of Sonic X-treme. It went through development hell and SEGA was having a hard time deciding which consoles they should have released the game on and what they stuck with was a Sega Saturn and PC version. Project Condor being the Saturn version and Chris and Ofer's PC version.
/face palm, this is not an official track of the game, Chris made it to go with his video's that you see on youtube, this is merely conceptual music. Howard Drossin was going to do the official soundtrack of the game but never made a piece for it since the game was canceled.
I can't help myself thinking that this song is cursed

Nope, Chris's X-treme archive has been down for months now. With Chris being busy with stuff in real life, he hasn't had the time to renew the domain because hxc is no longer supporting it. All of Chris's music is in one place only and that's his archive, so don't expect google to help much.

@Nitrous0x O, that's too bad, the site was cool! I was only there once, and was going to go there again. Maybe someone who downloaded all the tracks could get permission to upload them again.

@SpeedingHedgehog
I think i downloaded all the tracks off his archive but that was a while back and i downloaded them on my old computer. I would have to dig threw my computer to find them. That's how i was able to recuperate the mp3 file of Space Queens.

Let's get this straight.
ALL SONIC MUSIC IS AWESOME
Doesn't matter whether it was made in '91 or '09. It is ALL awesome. And this song is definitely one of the best. Long live Jun Senoue.
WritersBlah 2 years ago
@WritersBlah
I agree with you. i love quite a few of Jun Senoue's songs!
Nitrous0x 2 years ago
I agree, at least none of it was made, with bagpipes and a drunken composer.

This is real sonic music, not that mainstream punk that the green eyed sonic has.

Lex : WROOOOOONG!
Any Sonic music is Sonic music.

Awesome music.
What probably was the greatest Sonic game cancelled. Sad, really.
Great news though, the PC version has just had all resources (except the engine) dumped. Yes, even the levels, someone has made a level viewer for them too.
TrueDudeX 2 years ago
Yeah, i know i saw that! Awesome stuff! I got to view Crystal Frost in Fisheye. Dude i really wonder if that anonymous person who dumped them was Ofer Alon because isn't he supposed to be the only person who owns the Sonic X-treme editor? It makes sense don't it.

and you fail if you just came on here to tell me this.

It barely sounds like music, and sounds inappropriate for Sonic.
Fabio254 2 years ago
you clearly dont know what what makes music and plus sonic's soundtracks have varied in different styles so i don't see how this doesn't fit sonic.
Nitrous0x 2 years ago
you clearly dont know what what makes music and plus sonic's best soundtracks have generally been funk, hip-hop, pop, new-jack swing, electronica, jazz, and rock oriented with a generally upbeat, quick tone. This is just random slogging electronic noise.
Fabio254 2 years ago
you must have some piece of sh*t speakers then
Nitrous0x 2 years ago
I wasn't listening to it on speakers, and please, it's fucking low quality Sega Saturn music, don't act like it's a symphony orchestra we're talking about.
Fabio254 2 years ago
Sega Saturn music was CD quality music jack ass, also this was not meant for the Sega Saturn but the PC version and please no more replying back unless it's coherent if not i'll mark you as spam as you originally were marked as
Nitrous0x 2 years ago
And you misunderstand what I said. I said it was low quality Sega Saturn music, not that the Sega Saturn was only capable of low quality music. And at the time of the game's creation there wasn't going to be a PC version so obviously the music was meant for the Saturn. And uh oh! A spam threat!!
Fabio254 2 years ago
@Fabio254
Nitrous0x 2 years ago
This really doesn't help the music's case at all then, as one would think they'd be able to produce better quality of music than this for the PC.
Fabio254 2 years ago
@Fabio254
/face palm, this is not an official track of the game, Chris made it to go with his video's that you see on youtube, this is merely conceptual music. Howard Drossin was going to do the official soundtrack of the game but never made a piece for it since the game was canceled.
