I have the Beats by Dr.Dre Studio hooked to my Sound Blaster X-fi Titanium HD Sound Card and idk Music doesn't really seem that it could sound better O-o but what are your thoughts on them? You probably hate them huh i mean since you have all these super expensive headphones and stuff.. What are your favorite headphones out of all of the one's you have?
Hey I agree that Dr. Dre Studio sounds good for rap/hiphop/electronic (bass heavy music), but I think it sucks for every other genre out there. I had the Dr.Dre Studios before and I quickly understand that these were phones were colored by its amplification/isolation circuit. Without batteries you cannot hear the headphones, but technically/scientifically speaking, they don't want you to hear it unpowered.
For a better choice of headphones, go to a store n demo better ones.
Also about your Sound Blaster X-Fi soundcard, at first I thought the sound can't get much better, but it can. It also depends on how much you can technically hear/listen to as well. If you cannot detect sound quality based on the shape of your ears or genes, it wouldn't make sense for those users to get high priced equipment.
I bet you will hear a difference when you get an external DAC unit with headphone amplifier and audiophile grade headphones. Try more to know more. Typing here wont.

Is the source of your music even pure enough to justify having them especially because of the price, i'm sure you could talk about them all day but there are headphones out there that match the quality of the ps1000's for much lower price, at a certain point the purity of the headphones is canceled out if your music isn't in a format pure enough to match them.

@vicbig1 The PS1000 offers a more forward presentation and improved dynamics over the HD800. Transparency is also a step up,the HD800 like the Denon D7000 are too laid back to my taste. And I have used a dozen headphone amps from $400 all the way to 7K. A matter of taste.

@Bizzer10 Koss PortraPro do not have major faults, thus they do not irritate like most low cost headphones. They stand their ground even when compared to vastly more expensive units. The Sennheiser PX100 is another low cost winner.

@joe9teeplus1 The Denon D2000/5000/7000 are NOT monitoring headphones and would NOT serve as studio monitors IMO. They do not cut you from the sourroundings too well.
I would select a Sennheiser HD650 before a Denon D5000 for monitoring.More neutral response.

@canadia7x Soundstage is surprising for headphones, the HD800 sounds closer to great speakers than ...great "headphones". Here the HD800 has an edge over the Beyerdynamic flagship.

@canadia7x Try the BeyerDynamic Tesla(T1) if you can another set of great,open back headphones. The HD800 has a great balance of qualities that is hard to top.
i bought some sennheiser hd 650s recently which i listen to connected to my pc. i have a cheap so-so Soundblaster X-Fi sound card and sometimes i also use the nuforce mobile icon headphone amp to further power them. as far as the hd 650s bass, its pretty good but i would think it would be stronger. maybe not as punchy as the shittier headphones out there, but still pretty good? am i simply too picky on the bass or can they provide more boomier bass with a better amp?
@unholyftw HD650's like all high quality open back headphones do not impress with bass,the bass is defined,clean and unimpressive for those used to overpowering and less defined LF of the more mass market headphones.
The finest bass rich headphones would be the Denon D2000 ,D5000 and D7000.These are closed back and offer truly world class bass(definition included).
You should do an in-depth review on the sound of both Beats headphones. There's only one video that I know of that actually talks about the sound of the Beats, others just say they sound 'good', and I highly doubt these people are audiophiles such as yourself.

@MrDennyGan I'm 17 so yeah obviously i don't make alot of money... What i meant by it being a waste of money is how often do most of those even get listened to. Personally i would get the high end ones for listening to at home and a lower end one for listening on the go.

@Bizzer10 Koss PortraPro do not have major faults, thus they do not irritate like most low cost headphones. They stand their ground even when compared to vastly more expensive units. The Sennheiser PX100 is another low cost winner.
Lets say at this price level you demand comfort,descent SQ and fair build quality,the PortaPro is a classic.

I'm leaning towards the denon ah-d5000 based on reviews. Could you tell me what, in your opinion, are the best pair of headphones for music production? @joe9teeplus1 The Denon D2000/5000/7000 are NOT monitoring headphones and would NOT serve as studio monitors IMO. They do not cut you from the sourroundings too well.
I would select a Sennheiser HD650 before a Denon D5000 for monitoring.More neutral response.
Question is do you need headphones that ISOLATE you from the outside?

@canadia7x Soundstage is surprising for headphones, the HD800 sounds closer to great speakers than ...great "headphones". Here the HD800 has an edge over the Beyerdynamic flagship.

i bought some sennheiser hd 650s recently which i listen to connected to my pc. i have a cheap so-so Soundblaster X-Fi sound card and sometimes i also use the nuforce mobile icon headphone amp to further power them. as far as the hd 650s bass, its pretty good but i would think it would be stronger. maybe not as punchy as the shittier headphones out there, but still pretty good? am i simply too picky on the bass or can they provide more boomier bass with a better amp?

@unholyftw HD650's like all high quality open back headphones do not impress with bass,the bass is defined,clean and unimpressive for those used to overpowering and less defined LF of the more mass market headphones.
The finest bass rich headphones would be the Denon D2000 ,D5000 and D7000.These are closed back and offer truly world class bass(definition included).

You should do an in-depth review on the sound of both Beats headphones. There's only one video that I know of that actually talks about the sound of the Beats, others just say they sound 'good', and I highly doubt these people are audiophiles such as yourself.

@pplayer666 No, the sound quality the D7000 is capable of is very close tothe HD800. So close the D7000 are clearly a better buy IMO. Heck the D5000 are great headphones.And the D2000 a strong entry into the world of High-End headphones at a low price(yes $300 is not much for SQ this good).
