  • What is larger deck in this video? the one with the dark blue back? :) I love it.

  • @Lustfullydelicious

    The Rohrig deck.

  • regarding other people touching your cards: I keep a deck for myself and my own readings, and another deck that I use when I read for other people.

  • when shuffling how do u get cards to jump out of the deck?

  • Comment removed

  • I was told you cut and deal with the left hand because it is connected to your heart and it is also controlled by the right half of the brain, which maintains the feminine, spiritual aspect of the mind. I don't suppose it really matters though; do what's comfortable for you! :)

  • Thanks !!! was very intresting, useful and simple to understand!! ;-)

  • Am I like the onlyone here who does not like other people touching my cards?

  • you sound like a smoker. does the smoke affet the energy of the cards/

  • @TheChuckk harry potter tarots? where harry is the high priestess lOl

  • 哇,怎麼這樣切牌-_-!!!!!!!

  • I have that deck you shuffled at the beginning. the readings are pretty accurate

  • where do you buy tarot cards?

  • Book stores, magic shops, online.

    Papa Don

  • ah thanks i gotta get my own deck

  • @SooniLLExist I don't know if anyone has responded to you but a bookstore. If you have a borders where you live they carry them.

  • I Lay the deck on the table and mix the cards with ny hands wold that be good?

  • very good video thank you for posting

  • Papa Don! Make more videos for beginners please. I just started with the deck you have. The Rider Tarot Deck. And I just wanna start to be able to get use to the. I have kinda small hands so when I shuffle it gets kinda sloppy. Lol. But do you know just everyday quick easy readings? Like say a friend comes up for advice. How do I do that? Just shuffle the deck and pull out a card?? Lol

    Thanks, Ashen :)

  • Wonderful lessons I just bought Tarot cards so I wanted to know how to do all that, thanks.

  • I'm a beginner, but it matters that cards come out upside down correct? Like, the card itself has the opposite meaning/effect is its upside down.

  • Yep

    Don S.

  • I'm just a beginner but I heard you should always cut the deck with your left hand ?

  • That just depends on the persons own style. The left hand thing is just another myth about the tarot purported by some old timer tarot 'authorities'. I'm right handed so it's more comfortable for me to cut right handed.

    It's all in the intent!

    Don S.

  • @nodntap Thanks for clearing that up. I bought my first set of cards yesterday for no apparant reason. I just saw them in the shop and had to take them home, I have never had a reading done or anything like that so it was quite weird, I've hardly had them out of my hands since and I cant even read them !

  • YOU DO IT WITH YOUR LEFT HAND BECAUSE IS THE ONE CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO THE HEART...AND WHEN YOU ASK FOR TURTH...IT COMES FORM YOUR HEART....

    SO.... LEFT HAND-HEART CHAKRA

  • well i used 2 cut with my right hand bcz i always thought the left thing is just a myth untill i actually knew why r u supposed 2 do it with the left hand its mainly bcz the left hand arteries and veins r connected directly to the heart so the heart may never lie about anything and is the purest (thats what i heard) but i do get more accurate readings when spreading with the left hand,but it actually kills when doing a rahdues wheel

  • Thank you for posting this informative (& funny) video.

    One question: I flip my cards as I deal them. Will that cause a reverse reading? Or will the forces compensate for my different style?

  • Depends on how you are holding your cards to begin with. If held properly in your hand - basically upside down - then the cards won't come up reversed. Otherwise they will.

    Don S.

  • Thank you for your expertise Don

  • thanks for this helped a fair bit, very imformantive

  • Thanks (: helped alot (: love the jokes! lol

  • Very Good! Very informative yet interesting and offers a plethora of info. Wonderful job and little jokes here and there! Kudos!

  • great! Thanks!! very useful and clear, also very open minded! I love your style!

    peace!

  • This was very helpful - exactly what I was looking for! The video is shot from a really useful perspective, and you were so thorough and open-minded about all the different options.

    Thank you so much for doing such a wonderful job with this!

  • You did a splended job nodntap of explaining and showing the shuffling and choosing the cards technique in your video :)

  • You may find it more easier to just pick out the cards by hand instead of shuffling hand over hand and using the top cards depending on the spread your going to use as a layout.The reason I say this is because, it is astronomical to try and get the exact cards you need to divine in answering a question as you have the same odds more or less of trying to match the exact same lottery numbers to win a jackpot.Choosing the cards provides the personal aspect as well as the intuitive element.

  • should i pay attention to the cards that fall from the pack when shuffling?

  • Only if you think it's necessary - or want too. If you do read them then you have to decide how and in what sequence, before the formal reading, after the reading - and son on.

    I simply ignore them - or start the process over since jumping, popping, falling cards weren't my intent and usually come with bad card handling skills.

    Poppa Don

  • You have such a soothing voice and you made this so clear, I have the Gilded Tarot and the artwork is so pretty :)

  • Thank you so much for this! It had never really bothered me as I didn't play cards much- when I tried to shuffle cards someone would snatch the cards out of my hands saying that I was damaging them and not doing a good job at actually shuffling. As I said, this wasn't a problem until I picked up Tarot.

    I don't riffle because I believe my cards are going to get beat up enough as is (plus my hands are clumsy), but the over hand mixed with the slide gets the job done.

    So again, thank you!

  • lol i like you. your funny instead of saying stomach you say tummy good times also i like it when you say "blow up your tutut" one last thing i bought the one that you shuffle earlier...i have no clue how to use them

  • Hi nodntap :)

    Do you think that when reading the cards for a client, would it be better to have a deck that would suit the proper sizing for handling & shuffling if when a seeker is not use to handling oversized tarot cards?

  • This video makes me cringe the way those cards are being treated...

  • It is your right to have your opinions but the key to living is that we all have a 'CHOICE' as to what to do, and how to do it.

    So ... cringe away!

    Don S.

  • And some people cringe at any crack in a book's spine, while others bend the spine until the book is folded in half and read that way. It's all a matter of what you like :)

  • I think the tarot cards respond to whatever energy YOU as the holder infuse to them. I have always hated being told that i must shuffle or deal a certain way. I agree with you that it doesn't matter how they are shuffled, because in the end YOU have to be happy with YOUR cards and how you handle them. Thank you for your informational video it helped me very much.

  • I do not agree with the shuffling methods that have been shown. Tarot cards are not black jack cards. They should be treated with care and delicately shuffled. The over hand shuffle is the simplest way to do so. And they should be shuffled by the left hand as it is the one closest to your heart!

  • It is your right to have your opinions but the key to living is that we all have a 'CHOICE' as to what to do, and how to do it.

    Don S.

  • so very true man!

  • thanks for this! i just got my first deck and was nervous to shuffle because i didn't want to make any goofs :) i'm ready to go crazy with them now!

  • very helpful video thank you

  • you picked out two wand cards which can mean inspiring and creative, i dont think that was a coincidence, thanks for this great video, it is inspiring

  • Great video, and camera angle. I didnt know there were so many different methods of shuffling.

  • very informative, thank you for taking the time to post this :)

  • really liked this video and appreciate it very much

  • The Rohrig deck.

  • I really liked this video and appreciate it very much! Thank you! I am someone who needs details and gets stressed out if I feel I am not doing something correctly (even though most of the worry is useless). This video was simple, quick, and informative. Thanks!

  • Very good video. im new to tarot but what is the reason for cutting the deck? i know you said you don't have to do it but why would you do it is another way of mixing up the cards? sorry if im being a noob.

  • 1st: You cut the deck with your LEFT hand...

    ...No your other left.

    2nd: You do cut, or you client do, the deck for the deck' divine inspiration, that is to make sure the reading starts the telling at the subject' tart, mainly you neologi'sk consignees, that to is reason for candles, incense or in-tune-mend, or what ever you may like, like shuffling the cards seven times, having your client shuffling the deck or the process of picking the deck right for you.

    No stupid questions only awnsers, l0l

  • great video :) very informative.

  • thanx for the video

  • Ahhh, that makes some good sense! Thank-you! I'm a beginner and have "felt" from my cards that I need to study about them more to get a better understanding about how things work and also, I think they were right! ^^

  • This is truely a great how to video.Keep up the good work.

  • Clear, concise, and well informed. Excellent video on a topic that is often overlooked by most beginning tarot books. You have a gift for teaching, glad to see someone eschew the flowery language most often associated with tarot cards.

  • That was EXCELLENT!! Simple but thorough and most importantly, full of common sense! Please don't ever take this down. It would also be great if you posted more how to videos. I would be interested in learning anything you wanted to teach!

  • If you flip the cards vertically you end up with reversed/upside down cards. Which is usually not what you want.

    Don S. [Poppa Don]

  • ive always flipped them to get the reversals. i find they offer more insight into the situation. i know lots of readers dont read reversals though

  • Although I agree with you that the cards need to be able to take some wear and tear, my belief is that "Riffling" will transfer unwanted agressive energies to the cards. At least thats what I've been taught and it does make a lot of sense... Just wanted to hear your opinion on this.

  • Hogwash!

    Don S. [Poppa Don]

  • That was VERY helpful!! Thank you so much!

  • how does the cards reverse does it do it by it self or was it placed like that or did you just mix it then shuffle?sorry i'm a begginer so i don't really get it much

  • When you shuffle cards sometimes they get reversed. Some people don't read reversed cards any differently though, and some people do.

  • Thanks!! you really helped me!!

  • "Blows up your TuTu" Aw that was too precious. Thank you for the information and for the giggle.

    Blessings,

    -R

  • I like to shuffle the cards by holding them in one hand and using the thumb I slide a single card from the top, then, using the fingers I slide one from the bottom. I repeat this process until all 78 cards have been counted. I also ruffle the cards and overhand them, I cut, and so on.

  • I enjoyed this. I was especially glad to see shuffling the large cards since I have struggled a little handling the shuffle of them. More tips, please!

  • why was the paper notebook moving everywhere in the background? ahh, u summond, rashi, a demon.

  • Overhead fan.

  • i'm pretty damn good at card flourishes, would that help with tarot cards?

  • i'm pretty damn good at card flourishes, would that help with tarot cards?

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Only with shuffling and cutting - and so on. Not actually reading the cards.
    Don S. [Poppa Don]
  • Great tips Popa Don.  Thanks a bunch!
  • thanks for the tips
    i would apreciate more tips
  • you have a natural gift for coaching and teaching...so interesting. thank you !!!
  • hey man i didn't even know there were different ways to shuffle and cut the cards because the book i read made it seem like that was the only way to do it!! thanks =)
  • Thank you so much for this wonderful explanation Popa Don! I have just a few alternatives to shuffle my Tarot Cards, mainly when they are very big. Now you helped me a lot, maybe I can manage my cards little bit better after this great lesson! THANKS FOR SHOWING IT!!!!! :)
  • You are very welcome. I'm working on more videos.
    Popa Don
