I gotta ask, I know valhalla is where the warriors go when they die if they die in battle I think valkry has something to do with recruiting them for the ragnarok. But what is. Explain Asgard and Midgard they are both cities right? can anyone explain the lore? I know the ragnarok is caused by loki being freed and there is some kind of ice giant that wants revenge. And odin sits atop a tree called the yggdrasil, but still a little amateur at the lore.
@Crazymagus13 Yggdrasil is the tree that connects Asgard and Midgard, I think. Ragnarok is the apocalypse. The Valkyrie collects the souls of fallen warriors and brings them to Valhalla to become Einherjars who would fight when Ragnarok comes. Odin is the leader of the gods in Asgard, pretty much like Mt. Olympus and Heaven while Midgard is Earth.
The Vanir are the "other" gods, though the exact nature of that otherness has been the subject of much debate. A widely accepted traditional view is that the Vanir represent the gods of a society the Germanic people conquered and assimilated.Just like they were assimilated in rome,ancient greece etc etc....yea i am talkin about ancient basques....why did viking sailors call basque sailors "the vanir"?? hmm
This might be rather complex,it will depend on your knowledge.
It is believed,that the germanic culture originated in late bronze age northern Germany,from the mix of Hallstatt culture celts with the corded ware indo iranians and native europeans/mesolithic europeans,indo europeanized to a unknown extent,by the indo iranian corded ware culture,resuming its a mix of 3 cultures.
@StellandBlood I thought you know better. Aryan means "Speaker of an indo-european language" google for it. If your message is about Iran, then it misses the thematic.
"The term Aryan has generally been used historically to denote the Indo-Iranians because Arya is the self designation of the Indo-Iranian languages and their speakers, viz. the Iranian and the Indo-Aryan peoples, collectively known as the Indo-Iranians."
Of course Norwegian is Not Swedish spoken in Danish!!! Where do get this from- jibberish!! They are all individual languages- there are although similarities between them. Us who come from either Norway, Sweden or Denmark can speak together in our own languages and we would understand each other without much difficulties. Hence, the term "to speak Scandinavian".
@Blutstrupfs .... omg no its like norwegian and danish have the same alphabet but swedish and norwegian have more linguistic similarities when spoken .. but all three differ equally i'd say
I love how swedish and norweigian sounds pretty much the same so we can interact :) and so i can understand this

my question: the germanic tribes, did they originate from skandinavia or were the scandinavians just part of them?

@StellandBlood Iranians?!? You probably mean Aryans. The indo-european family as a whole. Then I understand your theory.
Nemesis816 1 year ago
@Nemesis816
Indo iranians,or Aryans,both terms mean the same,and Aryans are not equivalent to the whole indo european family.
