Yes, you do need a good man to guide you, but black women are constantly telling us they don't need us, we can't hold them down and make them listen. You have to be receptive to what a good man is, not be resentful of your role as the woman. Women do the choosing, so if there's no strong men in the homes, guess what, it's not the men. The reason weaves are around is because afros and braids don't mix in white society. It has nothing to do with what BM want, it's what WM won't accept.
Disagree you make it seem like woman are total reliant a men and we have no individuality no back bone. Woman can stand on their own. You should wear you hair a certain way because that's what you like. Woman cam lead themselves
OH SHUT UP MAN .... WEARING WEAVE IS JUS TO PROTECT OUR NAUTRAL HAIR BEING BEING SO DAMAGE FROM ALL THESE HAIR AND COLORING .......AHHH I CANT EVEN FINISH MY DAMN SENTENSE .......YOU GUYS ARE JUS CHESSEING ME LIKE SHUT THE FUCK UP ...................................... PERIOD
...im being series, give plausable realistic situations in life where a random man can seriously guide and influence a young sister and help her to deal with her issues and the such. I mean you can say while we are dating or marriage but thats the point. if we cant get to that level because of your innate abrasive and destructive behavior, how can we get to that level? Its like trying to get to level 100 in super mario brothers when level 1 is the hardest in the game!
...2.) behavior on an individual basis and positive influence is dependent on how receptive you are to the influence. if you have a whole group of men and women in seperate camps and when put into sitautions like school, work, social gatherings, on the street, ect., and the women's behavior is abrasive and unopen to that positive influence, how do you expect for a man(strong or weak) to be able to guide you when your to self absorbed and abrasive to deal with. why waste energy...part 2
1.) i would say that your response to the first part of the video is just shifting responsibility off of yourselves onto someone else. Specific situations like behavior during the beginning of courtship/dating/marriage, basic interaction within freindships, ect., Black men being pushed out of the job market subtle, ect., cannot all be blamed on black men. I can step up and say "ok, i stop selling on the block, i go to school, im not a deadbeat dad, i can stop cheating,ect....part 1
Very good points his women is very intelligent good video. I agree that our people are so caught up in the American fantasy that it has created chaos and destruction even more for our race this is what the slave masters wanted to separate and put the Black women above the Black man so we will hate ourselves, divide and conquer same technique. We must somehow wake up as a people and turn off tv and all things that society places on our people and research our history.
@dantej32 That is an unfair/untrue statement. You cannot solely blame men for our behaviour, yet they do play a role in it. Black women are brain washed by the media and what they (the media) SAY is beautiful. A man cannot MAKE a women wear weave (unless he has a gun to your head telling you to put it in or else he'll kill you),
@dantej32 we fall victim in to believing that having straight hair is beautiful because of the media. Sadly, the underlining issue is black women are insecure and they do these things so that black men will be attracted to them. I'm a dread and the amount of men that pick me up is ridiculous, and they all tell me ' I love a woman with natural hair', and this is coming from black and white men. We have to show confidence within ourselves. That's what is most attractive to men.
You are very intelligent. I mean I started watching this video with skepticisim but I loved this! The fact that you admitted the weave and relaxer is because you believe it makes you look more attractive... it's like you said what i refuse to say out loud. SO many people try to act like you have to be strong and confident in yourself to wear your natural hair and all that, but the problem is, even when i rock the full on fro, I get NO checking for me, overlooked ignored.
I agree and disagree with what is being said. I agree that black men must step and take the God-given authority that was meant for them. However, I know that some men have dropped the ball b/c women refuse to submit to that authority. It is a constant battle, so men began to say," forget this" and become bitter toward the black woman. Men must know who they are just as woman must know who they are as God design.
i believe at the end of the day that bm r at fault only we b/c we are the leaders. however bw r becoming more difficult 2 b with mainly d/2 anti-male media and laws (feminist bs) permeating thru america. somehow patriarchy is consider oppressive to bw but matriarchy is not. matriarchy = single moms. how many say they dont need a man. bm r not being raised to be leaders and bw are not leaders but somehow we are doing the exact opposite of what we are.
i dont agree....not all women are concerned how they are viewed by men....some people (ie myself ,i am natural) wear weave, wigs, etc because they genuinely dont want to do their own hair on a day to day basis.there is nothing wrong dating outside your race too many bw refuse to date outside their race....
Let's not get it twisted because hair is not the only thing we complain about. We always talk about the fucked up attitudes, losing weight, helping out sometimes & not being an enemy to us, etc... Since we got so much power over yall's actions, why don't black women ever work on the other things we complain about?
Since yall wanna satisfy us so much, why is it that the only thing yall concentrate on is your clothes, hair & nails. yall obviously have other flaws too!
I wasn't gonna comment but you are so off base & it's really sad!
Let's go back to the 90's & look at the women that we black men found attractive: Nia Long, Halle Berry, Angela Basset, Sanaa Lathan, etc... These women didn't have hair down to their asses & men literally drooled over them. And don't let me forget about Jada Pinkett, Monica, etc.
You are so fuckin lost & it's sad because you're so articulate but it just goes to show that Reading & COMPREHENDING r 2 different things!
i'm so sorry but u r the firist intelligent black women that talk with good communicaton,u debate well and increase my knowlegde, thank u from a strong blackman.
Btw..its really common for a bw to be bashed for the man she chose to be with or to have children with, and bw are also bashed when they opt out of dealing with a certain type, labeled as stuck up,boogie. I think thats a no win, dont you? What is wrong with loving the example of men you grew up around? Whats wrong with learning from the mistakes of others.are we just crabs in a barrel judging each other when each is on the menu.?
I !!sincerely!! agree with your opinions spoken throughout this video. It is a shame to hear the black woman villianized as an opt out of analyzing the entire situation as far as black love relations. Its completely unreasonable to suggest that black women essentially eat shit and smile. Black men/any man feeling lesser than in comparison to todays standards, are looking for a way to feel powerful, and most times it is at the expense of his woman and children.
Black women cannot handle the truth. I can bring in scholars who have studied some of these issues for more than half of their lives and black women would reject them. The church has done nothing for the black community except to continue the black families downward spiral, and black women still line up to go. The sad thing is a preacher wouldn't have some of the things he has if it weren't for you dumb bitches giving him your money. No different than Pimps Up Hoes Down.
Good men get cheated on, chased out the home, replaced by Section 8, child support or government handouts everyday. It's amazing but BM from all walks of life are saying the same thing
Youre basically full of shit with that young lost child mentality not knowing why you are doing whatever... Take accountability for yourself and stop passing the blame like youre just dumbass weakling throwing around overexaggerated blame. Really, femisism played a huge roll in the fall of the black family so go study that because apparently you dont know much about that and it seems you refuse to acknowledge that.
Damn right I disagree... How to be a good woman? when you look at me (a black man) you blame me for a whole lot of things I wasnt even a part of. I dont even care about how women wear their hair, if it looks good I like it and Im not gonna peg it as an issue where it is about self hatred when whether it is or not I dont want to make it a self hatred issue.
@JuggB You ever heard of the feminist movement? Independent women and being strong by yourselves is because black women of that time listened to that logic. And it carries on to now and black women are a reflection of me? I can show and tell a bw who I am as a black man, but I cant tell them to listen or think about how they wanna be as a person and if they wanted to be something like me bw would have way better attitudes about life in general.
@JuggB Black women are a reflection of black men? How can you say that? When we had the Million Man March at the same time BW were trying to bring that down in result of feminism even though black men were fighting for all ethnic group's rights. Yeah I think in this video; youre ignorant, are misinformed, basically doing what radical black women do which is basically put all the blame on black men. Using a music video is a horrible example.
You are soooooo right man. Some people should not be leading of any forum, radio, TV, now the Internet, this is clearly another level of miss use. She wants to talk like always, but never solve anything.
idc i dont do it for men lol my bf doesnt want me to wer weave XD i'm not trying to compete with any one i just miss my long(er) hair and I AM BLACK (and 1/4 N.A)
stop blaming black men for the reason you wear weaves sistas the white man made you wear weaves not black men you forced black men to like it cause black men werent checking out white women in the 70s when bw wore natural hair right?? notice black women really dont have nothing to much to say about the white man when he's the one your really mad at he's playing you your talking about rappers who like mixed light skin women but what color is the director producers of the videos WHITEMEN
@Washanen07 and actually rappers can request whoever the hell they want regardless if it is a white producer..ITS YOUR MUSIC...they have no say so in casting..and if the black rappers really gave a damn they'd speak up..but I guess they must still be afraid of massa
black women listen to everybody but black men at the end of the day and proof to this claim watch how many thumbs down I get when black man address black women we self haters we don't love our mama's and all this other crap bw can think of to shift the blame back to bm but my mama not on youtube booty shaking these bw have nothing in common with my mama then they say "well white women do it too" you dont like to be compared to white women but when under attack they always bring up ww
black women say "well maybe if black men were good we'll follow" thats a lie you still wouldnt follow because your willie lynch trained bw have no problem following white men and they rapist and brain washers worser then somebody selling drugs trying to provide for himself/family because he can't get a job because hes most hated in america bw stop denying and blaming others you dont want no good man you want thugs and white men you'll go with thug ass tyrone over derek working at wal mart
"blame it on the black bla bla black bla black man blame it on the black bla bla black bla black man" black womens version to jamie fox song they know its true just blame it on the black man
So black women have done nothing wrong at all? They're not responsible for anything that's going wrong with the black community? Is that what you're saying?
There hv to b a way for us women to spread this to the men and hope they are willing to listen and relize it and for them to put it in action and mayb this world will b much more better. We as ppl need to come together and work together as one but I LOVE this vid keep it coming.
Yes, slavery still affect us til this day bcuz sum ppl still seperate us like they will say that white boy or white girl or black boy or black girl we are all as one color. We all need to get together and live right like Jesus wants us to but as far as the black men how they dont guide or sum dont kno how to guide women in a relationship and like u said they try to figure out a way to gain power they will cheat, b a pimp or etc...
I have always been taught that if the black woman is out of control, too masculne, dis-respectful and leaders of the family it is because we have been taken out of our natural roles and our Generals ( the black man) have abandoned his post. And no nation can rise higher than it woman.
t, high cheek bones, curves, plump full lips, and gorgeous slanted eyes....white ppl try to bring in style what matches their overall body tupe which in reality is not what they even really want...the no ass trend (which most white men dont even like) or the sick skinny look....everyone wants to look fabulous and thats just the bottom line...period....self esteem and weave to me are not in the same category (no offense intended, just my honest opinion.....)
i agree with you to a certain extent....i feel that women wear what they feel plzes "males" in general. whther it a fro, long, or a short do i wear what I FEEL is tha prettiest on my face. if my man is the only one telling me he doesnt like my hair/fit bt lke ten other ppl like it, ima rock that hair/fit till no end....also it has nothin to do with self esteem.....black women r beatiful....most white ppl want what we have...no offense....but just think about it....we ususally have an ass, breas
my whole arguement with the other lady speaking is how can she say black women must hate themselves for wearing weave and wanting nicer things so i suppose the same white lady asian etc must hate themselves as well black women are not the only ones to wear weave and want nicer things hell other races do it more so its just not question because their hair is supposed to be naturally long and pretty
I think what people ACCEPT as being a REAL man has slid so low in standards that alot of people dont even realize its wrong. 1 thing i hate is that independent woman thing. I mean its good , but when a man says it like" your suppose to be independant blablah" its just an excuse to not do what they are SUPPOSE to be doing. Thats like if your man asks u to make dinner and you be like "your a GROWN ASS MAN right, can't u cook?"... Ridiculous right? people need to know their roles in relationships.
Who is lady talking? I don't agree with what she's saying. I do like the points that you made, i think hey are very true! and i dont even think thats its only with black men nowdays. i know thats whats its about, black people, but my husband , (we have 2 kids) is puerto rican , and i see us and other women who have boyfriendsand husbands of all races going through the same problems. I think men need to just step it up... PERIOD. no matter what race, i think men fell off...
relationships are like dancing we have got to learn to take a step forward when he steps back and to step back when he steps forward.WOMEN learnrture and support MEN learn how to lead your place is at home with your family not in the streets or the clubs if we as a rae spent the amountof time we do in the streets, clubs ect we would would be leading this country we are natural born leaders hustlers queens, kings founders of math and science GET IT TOGETHER MY PEOPLE...ONE LOVE
THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! This all truth but we as black people don't believe it. We are the founders of cilvilazation, math and sciences of all kinds. People from all over the world would come to us for our knowledge, beauty tips, spices, leadership and everything else. We also used to fly and move things with our minds. Every invention known to men the black man invented it first. Thank you again!
NOT ALL but some AND MEN i am often confused for other race i say nothing at first to see what other races think of us MOST think that black men are animals YOU know like strays that make a litter and keep it moving and it brakes my hart because while ALOT are this way MANY are not we have got to get it together and build better relationships with each other in order to build up out race and brake the cycle EVERY step my hubby takes forward i take a step back to let him lead
I agree with you 100 i am married 5 years i Run my house hold I DO NOT WANT TO i tell his to step up my father was a role model AND provider til he died. Most men 30 or younger are to busy in the streets club, ect to really lead their family OR their fathers dropped the ball WE are living in the video ERA life is a pary how many woman and material things can they have WE AS BLACKS male and female have really dropped the ball!!! how can a man respect SOME of us when we act like loose women
I agree with you, on we are raising our children. I love our black bothers, I have 2 sons and I hope that one day they will marry a black sister, now 1 of my sons loves hispanic women, I asked him why he don't date sister and he said we are to strong and he love us but, we have to much baggage. I wanted to knock him on top of his head, now when he went to jail, now that little girl he was dating was not there for him, but me the baggage. She need to talk to the black man about loving a sister
I agree, most black men also have a strong desire for power and wealth and to feel equal, most of them confuse this with believing non-black women are a better choice, based on what this society says is beautiful...There are plenty beautiful women in the black race!
wow did the other woman actually listen to what she said? its not a black thang, its a personal thing. u cant just stereo type black women like that. we all live our lifes according to our personal experiences.
so true shelisasells, its not a black thang white women and latinas wear weave too they are called extensions. So does that mean that they are insecure too? A man has nothing to do with what I as a women decide to wear on my head. its a personal choice to do what ever I decide to do.I have two nursing degrees and I still wear weave from time to time depending on How I want to look at that particular time, my husband thinks what ever I wear is up to me.
I agree. I don't even own ONE designer bag, but because of my choice to wear a weave, and stylish clothes people tend to think I am also small minded...Its crazy but she needs to realize that not everyone fits in that box...
To be honest, life is too SHORT to even had responded to what the girl said to begin with. Our great grandkids are gonna be having this same talk and so on as long as people keep bringing it up and debating about it!!
it's pure stupidity to even entertain ignorant people!!! I wear a damn weave because I am grown and I do what I want, screw what my man thinks. This whole topic is stupid and as long as we keep entertaining it then its always gonna be relavant!! GET OVER IT!! LIVE YOUR LIFE!!
While I cannot co-sign 100% on your interpretations, I must acknowledge that it was considerably less unbalanced than the impression a number of others had made it seem.
Im sorry. I cant agree with you because it makes me sad, that black ppl think this way. Weve come such a long way. Its no longer about the color of your skin. All this about black woman droppin God knows what. Thats just silly! Im Puerto Rican, and Im not married to a PR man. Its really not about the man, YOU are responsible for the woman you want to become! Let;s not blame MAN. They are in theri own little word to start with we choose the woman we want to be, lets not blame others bcuz of colo
I know many good black woman, and Im pretty sure they where not defined because of the "black man" they where around. Is just the woman you choose to be. If I want to cream and act all ghetto when my husband comes from work then thats just me acting a fool.. This is not cute, you ladies talking about the black man, and black woman drop the ball. you all are beautiful good woman I dont see nothing wrong with you ladies. God Bless
i agree with you. men do have an indirect say in what we do. what we wear and how we act. however in the same breath. we have to stand up for ourselves. and do what we FEEL and what we LIKE.. because not all men like the big fake boobs or the long hair or the ivory skin.. so.. im kind of 50/50 on that. we as women are VERY capable of saying NO and doing what we feel regardless of what anyone says. no matter their race or gender. its a matter of not letting someone dictate how YOU live YOUR life
the part that really got me was when in the original video the girl said we have a low class way of thinking. i was so disappointed to hear her say that
All you are doing is blaming black men. Are black women so weak (mentally and physically) that you need black men to say "I want my black woman to be natural" What I want is a woman that is herself. Not a fake.
leave all the poisonous past where it is and start over we are a new ppl.we have been slaves way before america the arabs and some blacks have enslaved us for over 1500 yrs. there are still black slaves now as we speak.these men you speak of are children, look look look use ya eyes and find the diamond in the ruff he is out there and will go forever for you if you shed the shell that u.s. media has put on you and grow up.we all need to stop sucking our own dicks out here.
@ the end of the day if u have hair u dont like and feel wearing a weave makes u feel better or look better for "urself beauty" then to each is own.....its all about esteem and what helps u build confidence in ur look, my look has nothing to do with MEN atleast for me!!! I pick how I want my hair to look the same way I pick the clothes I wanna wear for the day, and if others love my look then more power for me...AMEN!!
I dont feel in that anyone has the room to judge. Everyone has an opinion and you may not like or agree with it. But that is why it is called an OPINION. A lot of the times people say things that is very ignorant but those things you have to learn to look past. On a more personal note... This is to drealicious88, dont let what loveabovehate say get you upset. The bible says "Flee from a fool when you preceive there is no knowledge." Let LoveaboveHate speak for herself.
I don't understand why we continue to explain why we do certain things (i.e. weaves) life is too short for that.if someone doesnt like what you do too bad for them
I was watching Diddy's Assistant show last night.....It was a black chick on there with a horrible attitude......thats the type of chick nobody wants to be around....
u jus is a hating bitch man u need a fuckin life sound like u wan wear some weave!wat about ya hair u bragging about ya daughter hair??????????????????
Well, all this "good hair" talk is really starting to annoy me, I perm my hair because I want to, I have been natural, didnt like it too much, I wear weaves but I like to change my hair color too much.... I'm like whatever...
I have to disagree I think that its a reflection on the woman b/c if we are the nurtures than we are rearing the children, boys and girls who will become men and women. So that means if we don't have self love than the children will not have self love. If our children never seen our natural hair or theres than we are indirectly letting them know that our hair is not good enough. The images on T.V will reinforce it. Im not saying theres anything wrong with weave but if you dependent, thats Y!
yh dats true talk...it's a domino effect...brake the blackman which is braking the black women, once the black women is broken she will bring her children up broken...it's a crazy cycle..aftermath of slavery has left us black ppl broken as a whole....we jus need to figure out how to fix the problem?
You are so right. I love my black brothers and they have had a bad rap but as a community we need to take our power back. The black family is beautiful but where are all of our patriarchs? Black women are strong because we have to be. What you said about the hair thing is 100% correct if they didn't love it we wouldn't wear it. Also as children most of us aren't taught to love our natural kinky beauty it was something that just had to be dealt with.
Just because a mixed race or other, has long hair, light skin blah blah..that does not mean a man black or other is going to respect or love her there is no magic combo! and bottom line race can not be looked at as a whole. nor anything else in the matter of many persons... individual basis only people i get fever from all colors!
I never said he would love her or respect her just because she was lightskinned, what i said was that those are the type of women you see portrayed as most black mens love interst in music videos, except for Common and T-Pain every once in a while...lol
SEXAAAYYY! LMMFAO!!!@ 7:55. I'm not n a relationship w/ a bm but I agree with everything you said. I get what u said about bm have watched bw been raped by wm but tht was centuries & decades ago!!! That time has long past! My mom is 54 yrs old & my brotha said the same statement & my mother had to correct him; she said " you're right; it did happened but u wasn't even born & so weren't I." I think as blk ppl we need to stop focusing so much on the past & focus on rebuilding our community again.
I AGREE WITH YOU SOO MUCH!!!! WOMEN DO THINGS TO PLEASE A MAN, We want to do what men like, its natural but at the end of the day we as women HAVE to be happy with ourselves, we can't please a men if we are not truly happy.
Its considered a luxury....like an expensive watch, car, vacation, a nice dinner... its what's shown by the media as something Glamorous .. so yes it is a "nice thing" to those who view it as such...
Weaves aren't always about "not having" i have long hair.. but guess what i like short hair cuts for short periods of time.. so i weave it up into that style.. and when i'm done.. i'll always have my NATURAL long hair
A WEAVE is not a luxury!!!!!!! Most black women i see with weaves look far from glamorous.....Damn I'm starting to really love Afrcentric chicks these days!
Luxury = a pleasure out of the ordinary allowed to oneself...material object...service...etc...whether it's worthless, ridiculous, or a prize ....that's for the individual to decide.. not you...
how can you love and respect someone when you dont love and respect yoursel.
no one can make someone else feel good about themselves truely but that person so i really feel your putting the blame on men when its not their fault, like you said black women wear their hair in weaves because thats how men like it not because they truely want to so with that being said if you think about it in a way your contradicting yourself
why is it we are the only race seen as HATING ourselves... last time i check i was just another American part of the American culture...fortunately that involves wearing my natural hair when i feel like it... wearing weaves.. contacts....and changing whatever else you feel like changing for what ever time period you choose...
and you know what WHO CARES.. its fashion.... personally, none of any one's business...
Why is everyone so focus on Black Woman's Hair when you have other races out there changing butts, lips, eyelids, nose, breast, cheeks, wearing contacts, dyeing their hair, wearing weaves too...
Why try to repair ourselves, communities, and relationships from the outside. Hair is an outer coating. Do most care about thier childs hair or self-esteem. It's what is inside which reflects outer appearance and opinions.
There is a need to look inside. Break daily rituals and habits. Change is hard yet rewarding. The reward is for honest and earnest seekers.
For a real and lasting change, we must look inside with honesty and acceptance. No beating ourselves up 4 who we truly are.
i think the idea is this, how come white ppl dont wear weave that resembles afrocentric hair yet blks wear weave that resembles eurocentric hair, see the issue there?
not all blks wear euro-centric hair.. i think most weave wearers at some point has played around with all textures of hair....
and yes white people and some asians do wear afro-centric hair styles.. look thru vogue.. come out to NYC.. i've seen quite a few.. is it mainstream..? NO.. there is actually some hair movement out in south Korea with this whole "afro- perm" .. oh and Curly hair really isnt mainstream either.. you have white woman dying to have straight hair as well...
If we ALL wore a fake fro instead of the "eurocentric hair" would everybody be happy?? Doubt it.
So, to answer your question, NO I don't see the issue. I see it as another way to be negative towards black women.
And besides how cute would a white chick be in "afrocentric" hair anyway. They know just like the rest of us that it would look ridiculous. (side note) :)
Like I said its a deep rooted issue that we face. Even if we wore afro hair weaves, we still would be criticized. Its just that some of us do it bcuz we just we want to, some do it bcuz they have been told that they are not pretty enough with out it... There really is no one clear answer....
If you have ever been to a black hair show you will see naturals, perms, relaxers, braids, and weaves. But I dont think we all hate ourselves bcuz of the way we chose to wear our hair...
girl you are so right.. evn when every other culture race or gender does the same thing black women are always the ones that are most ostrasized mainly by other black peoplee smh i think it is also because they find it easiesdt too
This is interesting because my cousin and I were saying the same thing about what men like is what women reflect. Until black men say they want their women with natural hair it is going to continue to be this same cycle. Not to say that it is all on black men but, we do have to realize that this is much deeper then hair. For some reason, black women wearing fake her is a big deal and I do not know why. It is just hair! What is the big deal? How does that translate to hating ones self?
i know several black men that have stated that even if the blaack womemn looked like hale berry or beyonce but had an afro they wouldnt dare to date them so r black women really the ones with the "selfhating problem" a bblack male told my black friend the other week that he only liked girls with long hair which was y he didnt date black women cuz most dont so is it really us? or are we just the easiest to blame..
i agree totally i am not sure why african american women are being ostrasized so much for perming, weaves, and etc. when most white and mexican women do the same exact thing but we continue to get the brunt of the critisim and you are right soo many black men especially now uh days wont women with long hair or hair they can easily rub their hands through
I agree with about everything you said. Because what men find attractive, that's what us women try to be. I have a mixed male friend and when i wore weave around him, i felt little and fake. I now have my real hair out and is cut short like Rhianna's. I feel much more confident and real, and less stereotypical. I also feel like without the weave he can take me for who I am and he finds it more attractive.
cont... most white women are born with curly hair and they straighten their hair, no one argues about it and asians have straight spikey hair which they RELAX to make it lay flat, white women walk around with clip in weaves and dark roots w/ blonde ends, latinas have dark roots and light hair, dominicans get "blow outs"...all races alter their hair but for some reason blacks are targeted. Get the f*ck outta here with that argument by downing the black woman for having hair options...please!
Yes YES yeSSS, girl I totally agree with u in the man leading the woman and the woman nurturing the home, i totally agree!
Black women arent the only ones who wear weave but we are heavily targeted, whites, asians, latinas etc.. wear weave and clip ins, u see a lot of women besides blacks who"hate" their hair due to dying their hair blonde, adding clips. I live in japan and u would be surprised!... straight hair is a choice and an option on the market and i choose to take that option:)
own community!!!!!! I will agree w/ u&say that our blk men are supposed to set the tone&really encourage us....I personally think that blk women r strong as a whole&r often times either misguided or simply misunderstood.
girl she need to go sit down.. but her opinion is her opinion the black woman , women in general is the back bone in most relationships.. and i feel if more men play their roles and stop living with they momma support ya kids and stop trying to have they women support them maybe the woman will step into there role but untill them hunny they can as my girl says " eat my drawgs"
Wow...this is a DEEP, touchy subject..... I honestly do believe that we as black ppl still struggle w/ issues that dervived from slavery. During those days slave masters were turning us against each other (i.e. praising blks w/ lighter skin tones, "good" hair...etc)&it's manifested deeply rooted self esteem issues within the blk community. It's easy 2 preach the msg of "self love", but very difficult 2 act on it b/c of fear of rejection from not only the "white society" but its even worse in our
Black women never blame the white man.black women have Stockholm syndrome

Yes, you do need a good man to guide you, but black women are constantly telling us they don't need us, we can't hold them down and make them listen. You have to be receptive to what a good man is, not be resentful of your role as the woman. Women do the choosing, so if there's no strong men in the homes, guess what, it's not the men. The reason weaves are around is because afros and braids don't mix in white society. ...im being series, give plausable realistic situations in life where a random man can seriously guide and influence a young sister and help her to deal with her issues and the such. I mean you can say while we are dating or marriage but thats the point. if we cant get to that level because of your innate abrasive and destructive behavior, how can we get to that level? Its like trying to get to level 100 in super mario brothers when level 1 is the hardest in the game!
JGvisions 7 months ago
...2.) behavior on an individual basis and positive influence is dependent on how receptive you are to the influence. if you have a whole group of men and women in seperate camps and when put into sitautions like school, work, social gatherings, on the street, ect., and the women's behavior is abrasive and unopen to that positive influence, how do you expect for a man(strong or weak) to be able to guide you when your to self absorbed and abrasive to deal with. why waste energy...part 2
JGvisions 7 months ago
1.) i would say that your response to the first part of the video is just shifting responsibility off of yourselves onto someone else. Specific situations like behavior during the beginning of courtship/dating/marriage, basic interaction within freindships, ect., Black men being pushed out of the job market subtle, ect., cannot all be blamed on black men. I can step up and say "ok, i stop selling on the block, i go to school, im not a deadbeat dad, i can stop cheating,ect....part 1
JGvisions 7 months ago
Very good points his women is very intelligent good video. I agree that our people are so caught up in the American fantasy that it has created chaos and destruction even more for our race this is what the slave masters wanted to separate and put the Black women above the Black man so we will hate ourselves, divide and conquer same technique. We must somehow wake up as a people and turn off tv and all things that society places on our people and research our history.
A1truth 8 months ago
again it is the man's fault for woman's behavior. Not taking responsibility for their own behavior. Typical. Men make women wear weave?strong BW
dantej32 8 months ago
@dantej32 That is an unfair/untrue statement. You cannot solely blame men for our behaviour, yet they do play a role in it. Black women are brain washed by the media and what they (the media) SAY is beautiful. A man cannot MAKE a women wear weave (unless he has a gun to your head telling you to put it in or else he'll kill you),
NUbeginnings2011 8 months ago
@dantej32 we fall victim in to believing that having straight hair is beautiful because of the media. Sadly, the underlining issue is black women are insecure and they do these things so that black men will be attracted to them. I'm a dread and the amount of men that pick me up is ridiculous, and they all tell me ' I love a woman with natural hair', and this is coming from black and white men. We have to show confidence within ourselves. That's what is most attractive to men.
NUbeginnings2011 8 months ago
You are very intelligent. I mean I started watching this video with skepticisim but I loved this! The fact that you admitted the weave and relaxer is because you believe it makes you look more attractive... it's like you said what i refuse to say out loud. SO many people try to act like you have to be strong and confident in yourself to wear your natural hair and all that, but the problem is, even when i rock the full on fro, I get NO checking for me, overlooked ignored.
dezinediva 10 months ago
I agree and disagree with what is being said. I agree that black men must step and take the God-given authority that was meant for them. However, I know that some men have dropped the ball b/c women refuse to submit to that authority. It is a constant battle, so men began to say," forget this" and become bitter toward the black woman. Men must know who they are just as woman must know who they are as God design.
KELVINRHARRIS 11 months ago
i believe at the end of the day that bm r at fault only we b/c we are the leaders. however bw r becoming more difficult 2 b with mainly d/2 anti-male media and laws (feminist bs) permeating thru america. somehow patriarchy is consider oppressive to bw but matriarchy is not. matriarchy = single moms. how many say they dont need a man. bm r not being raised to be leaders and bw are not leaders but somehow we are doing the exact opposite of what we are.
mykole84 1 year ago
Its kind of too late too tell black men to be leaders when black women kept preaching that feminist junk.
revemupman 1 year ago
i dont agree....not all women are concerned how they are viewed by men....some people (ie myself ,i am natural) wear weave, wigs, etc because they genuinely dont want to do their own hair on a day to day basis.there is nothing wrong dating outside your race too many bw refuse to date outside their race....
nynaturalbeauty 1 year ago
Let's not get it twisted because hair is not the only thing we complain about. We always talk about the fucked up attitudes, losing weight, helping out sometimes & not being an enemy to us, etc... Since we got so much power over yall's actions, why don't black women ever work on the other things we complain about?
Since yall wanna satisfy us so much, why is it that the only thing yall concentrate on is your clothes, hair & nails. yall obviously have other flaws too!
Please answer this!!!
Lilart1981 1 year ago
I wasn't gonna comment but you are so off base & it's really sad!
Let's go back to the 90's & look at the women that we black men found attractive: Nia Long, Halle Berry, Angela Basset, Sanaa Lathan, etc... These women didn't have hair down to their asses & men literally drooled over them. And don't let me forget about Jada Pinkett, Monica, etc.
You are so fuckin lost & it's sad because you're so articulate but it just goes to show that Reading & COMPREHENDING r 2 different things!

Btw..its really common for a bw to be bashed for the man she chose to be with or to have children with, and bw are also bashed when they opt out of dealing with a certain type, labeled as stuck up,boogie. I think thats a no win, dont you? What is wrong with loving the example of men you grew up around? Whats wrong with learning from the mistakes of others.are we just crabs in a barrel judging each other when each is on the menu.?
lulubelle4956 1 year ago

Really, femisism played a huge roll in the fall of the black family so go study that because apparently you dont know much about that and it seems you refuse to acknowledge that.
JuggB 1 year ago
Damn right I disagree... How to be a good woman? when you look at me (a black man) you blame me for a whole lot of things I wasnt even a part of. I dont even care about how women wear their hair, if it looks good I like it and Im not gonna peg it as an issue where it is about self hatred when whether it is or not I dont want to make it a self hatred issue.
JuggB 1 year ago
@JuggB You ever heard of the feminist movement? Independent women and being strong by yourselves is because black women of that time listened to that logic. And it carries on to now and black women are a reflection of me? I can show and tell a bw who I am as a black man, but I cant tell them to listen or think about how they wanna be as a person and if they wanted to be something like me bw would have way better attitudes about life in general.
JuggB 1 year ago
@JuggB Black women are a reflection of black men? How can you say that? When we had the Million Man March at the same time BW were trying to bring that down in result of feminism even though black men were fighting for all ethnic group's rights. Yeah I think in this video; youre ignorant, are misinformed, basically doing what radical black women do which is basically put all the blame on black men. Using a music video is a horrible example.

br1anna91 2 years ago
I think what people ACCEPT as being a REAL man has slid so low in standards that alot of people dont even realize its wrong. 1 thing i hate is that independent woman thing. I mean its good , but when a man says it like" your suppose to be independant blablah" its just an excuse to not do what they are SUPPOSE to be doing. Thats like if your man asks u to make dinner and you be like "your a GROWN ASS MAN right, can't u cook?"... Ridiculous right? people need to know their roles in relationships.

Weaves aren't always about "not having" i have long hair.. but guess what i like short hair cuts for short periods of time.. so i weave it up into that style.. and when i'm done.. i'll always have my NATURAL long hair
Kallie616 2 years ago
A WEAVE is not a luxury!!!!!!! Most black women i see with weaves look far from glamorous.....Damn I'm starting to really love Afrcentric chicks these days!
LoveAboveHate 2 years ago 2
Luxury = a pleasure out of the ordinary allowed to oneself...material object...service...etc...whether it's worthless, ridiculous, or a prize ....that's for the individual to decide.. not you...
so yes a Weave is a Luxury...
Kallie616 2 years ago
I agree with you especially on the hair issue. If you had more black men praising natural qualities of black women a lot would change for the better.
GnyseGirl 2 years ago 2
The problem is that there is self hatred happening on BOTH sides.
As a woman if you wear your hair natural in an afro there is a LARGE majority of black men who will just NOT be interested.
period.
EVEN THOUGH- THEIR HAIR would look EXACTLY the same as yours if they didn't cut it. If that isn't self hatred then I don't know what it is.

how can you love and respect someone when you dont love and respect yoursel.
no one can make someone else feel good about themselves truely but that person so i really feel your putting the blame on men when its not their fault, like you said black women wear their hair in weaves because thats how men like it not because they truely want to so with that being said if you think about it in a way your contradicting yourself
monaehoney 2 years ago
nope i dont

girl i totally agree with everything u said because many say that we are the one to blame and thats just not true
grapeapples1 2 years ago
why is it we are the only race seen as HATING ourselves... last time i check i was just another American part of the American culture...fortunately that involves wearing my natural hair when i feel like it... wearing weaves.. contacts....and changing whatever else you feel like changing for what ever time period you choose...
and you know what WHO CARES.. its fashion.... personally, none of any one's business...
Kallie616 2 years ago 6
I agree!
SenCiti 2 years ago
Why is everyone so focus on Black Woman's Hair when you have other races out there changing butts, lips, eyelids, nose, breast, cheeks, wearing contacts, dyeing their hair, wearing weaves too...
Kallie616 2 years ago 18
Why try to repair ourselves, communities, and relationships from the outside. Hair is an outer coating. Do most care about thier childs hair or self-esteem. It's what is inside which reflects outer appearance and opinions.
There is a need to look inside. Break daily rituals and habits. Change is hard yet rewarding. The reward is for honest and earnest seekers.
For a real and lasting change, we must look inside with honesty and acceptance. No beating ourselves up 4 who we truly are.

Why can't black women wear a weave to switch up their style? why does it ALWAYS have to be some reason or excuse as to why we do things??
If wearing weave, fake nails, colored contacts etc... is something we do for a black mans attention(or what have you), then why
do WHITE women wear the SAME things? What, do they where it for, to "enhance their beauty?"
No matter what ,we will always be the target of negativity and hatred, because people know we are strong. And I hope we stay that way!

PREACH!!!! lol
laydiiblessyd 2 years ago
i think the idea is this, how come white ppl dont wear weave that resembles afrocentric hair yet blks wear weave that resembles eurocentric hair, see the issue there?
InFamous26x 2 years ago
exactaly my point!
SenCiti 2 years ago
not all blks wear euro-centric hair.. i think most weave wearers at some point has played around with all textures of hair....
and yes white people and some asians do wear afro-centric hair styles.. look thru vogue.. come out to NYC.. i've seen quite a few.. is it mainstream..? NO.. there is actually some hair movement out in south Korea with this whole "afro- perm" .. oh and Curly hair really isnt mainstream either.. you have white woman dying to have straight hair as well...
Kallie616 2 years ago
That still doesn't answer my question.
SinfulyBeautiful 2 years ago
Like I said its a deep rooted issue that we face. Even if we wore afro hair weaves, we still would be criticized. Its just that some of us do it bcuz we just we want to, some do it bcuz they have been told that they are not pretty enough with out it... There really is no one clear answer....
If you have ever been to a black hair show you will see naturals, perms, relaxers, braids, and weaves. But I dont think we all hate ourselves bcuz of the way we chose to wear our hair...
SenCiti 2 years ago
THAT IS SOOOO TRUE. Black women can rock any hairstyle and pull it off.
yourdreamgirl87 2 years ago
EXACTLY! white women don't buy afro kinky curl.
yourdreamgirl87 2 years ago
girl you are so right.. evn when every other culture race or gender does the same thing black women are always the ones that are most ostrasized mainly by other black peoplee smh i think it is also because they find it easiesdt too

i have gone out and showed love 2 black women who are natural all the black women have said 2me
why do you support and care about black with natural hair
and senciti you are trying 2make defenses 4 black women and many of our black women have droppe3d the ball and they dont wann admit 2 there wrong part
and many black women have a feminist mentality
black men and women need 2 guide each other

WHAT "wrong part"??? I'm confused
We Do and We Do for you negros.

come on now girl, why he gotta be a Negro :)
yourdreamgirl87 2 years ago
This is interesting because my cousin and I were saying the same thing about what men like is what women reflect. Until black men say they want their women with natural hair it is going to continue to be this same cycle. Not to say that it is all on black men but, we do have to realize that this is much deeper then hair. For some reason, black women wearing fake her is a big deal and I do not know why. It is just hair! What is the big deal? How does that translate to hating ones self?
KandiYam07 2 years ago 3
i know several black men that have stated that even if the blaack womemn looked like hale berry or beyonce but had an afro they wouldnt dare to date them so r black women really the ones with the "selfhating problem" a bblack male told my black friend the other week that he only liked girls with long hair which was y he didnt date black women cuz most dont so is it really us? or are we just the easiest to blame..
babyxhil 2 years ago
i agree totally i am not sure why african american women are being ostrasized so much for perming, weaves, and etc. when most white and mexican women do the same exact thing but we continue to get the brunt of the critisim and you are right soo many black men especially now uh days wont women with long hair or hair they can easily rub their hands through
babyxhil 2 years ago
I agree with about everything you said. Because what men find attractive, that's what us women try to be. I have a mixed male friend and when i wore weave around him, i felt little and fake. I now have my real hair out and is cut short like Rhianna's. I feel much more confident and real, and less stereotypical. I also feel like without the weave he can take me for who I am and he finds it more attractive.

I wonder what would happen if all Brothers collectively took the initiative....
We stopped arguing and accusing and just became the Men that God intended for us to be. (both in mind and deed).
Consistently and in earnest.
After giving our Black Sisters some time to recover from their collective fainting spells, what do u think would happen?

cont... most white women are born with curly hair and they straighten their hair, no one argues about it and asians have straight spikey hair which they RELAX to make it lay flat, white women walk around with clip in weaves and dark roots w/ blonde ends, latinas have dark roots and light hair, dominicans get "blow outs"...all races alter their hair but for some reason blacks are targeted. Get the f*ck outta here with that argument by downing the black woman for having hair options...please!
anavywife28 2 years ago 9
that might not be a good thing. racism and 'black issues' are alive and well throughout the world
didi425 2 years ago
