Harleys are great bikes. They really do have a personality of their own. I've owned 2 of them. I also have owned Japanese bikes, yamaha, Kawasaki and Honda. What I like better about the Harleys is that to me they are easy to service and their resale value is great. So I've owned both bikes on both sides of this argument. I must say there are things about all of them that I like and dislike. Ride what you wish and stay safe. Be respectful to all motorcyclists.

I try to ride around 25,000 miles a year. There is a big difference between a jap bike and a harley. Just remember, you get what you pay for. Look at the cheap toyotas now.

@dirtystinknape I don't consider them overpriced. I just traded in an 06 Ultra with 53,000 miles on it, that I had wrecked in SC and got $12,000 for it. I was surprised. A 06 Gold Wing in excellent shape will only get you $9,000 if you are lucky. I had several thousand dollars worth of damage.

Harley produces the best cruisers and touring bikes in the world. Are you comparing them to the performance of a sport bike? If so, that would be very stupid. @dirtystinknape BMW is not what they use to be. They have all kinds of final drive and electronic issues. I traded my RS a couple months ago. Will not buy another BMW till they make good on their history of troublesome malfunctions of the FD and electrics .

I have ridden for almost 40 yrs., 35 of that on pavement. I have done the whole spectrum; dirt, sport, cruising, dual sport and now touring. To me touring is the major leagues. I love to travel and see new new places and faces.

@dirtystinknape I don't consider them overpriced. I just traded in an 06 Ultra with 53,000 miles on it, that I had wrecked in SC and got $12,000 for it. I was surprised. A 06 Gold Wing in excellent shape will only get you $9,000 if you are lucky. I had several thousand dollars worth of damage.

. @ExUSSailor I get it...the RUBS. On the other hand, I really don't think it has much to do with cost. Anybody can buy a Cycle Trader and find a HD in they're price range. I think it's ego, ignorance and they're inability to think for themselves. They are told what to ride...what to wear...what to think and how to act. I believe this is true for about 75% of them. The other 25% could care less what is between everyone's legs and just like to ride.

I'm disabled, and can't ride anymore, but have owned everything from a chopped early 60's Triumph, to a brand new Suzuki SV 650.
