  • "The dogs might bark but the caravan moves on." Hilarious call. We all need to focus on the future, too right.

  • I'd love to hear PK's opinions on Pauline Hanson and One Nation. Oh that would be a laugh.

  • This part of the interview is what I like to call "Classic Keating"

  • love it, a low flying person...

  • this man has a lot of self belief however from a true economic purist oint of view his assertions about his ability and influence on the economy of Australia are greatly exaggerated

  • are you serious? so if he didnt implement Superannuation what do you think would be happening?

Howard left us with a $600 billion current account deficit. Just happens to be a figure around the mark that would have been the extra internal savings had howard done something constructive and got super up to 15%. Imagine what current account equilibrium would have meant to our economy leading into this global crisis.

From a matter of record -Hawke/keating were our greates ever economic reformers

  • At 6:24 O'Brien asks Keating about not accepting the 1996 election and being defeated by John Howard. Well at least he didn't lose his own seat.

  • really after he won the unwinnable election and had everything ie the 100% support of his party,no debt to any faction, the pm job he chose to do nothing and become lazy only turning up for question time and then going home

  • It's a pity this interview is not complete. I have it here at home and runs for around 13:30. Missing are some very interesting comments on superannuation and the US financial woes. Thanks for posting it though.

  • Stop press: Yes the interview is intact but in two parts. Great!

  • let no man have any doubt about the greatness of Paul Keating for should that man harbour the smallest doubt about this then the flood of uncertainty can be swept away by the tidal wave of oratry that Keating can provide on the subject of his own greatness

  • nice.

  • sorry nuddy but the guy did things that howard said he stole from him.

Howard praised keatings work and said he set us up.

Dam right he set them up it was keatings work over the ten year period that got us through the asian cysis in the first few years of the howard government.

  • @australianews EXACTLY. the howard gvt didnt actually change the framework pk set up, they benefited from it, factually open to anyone who actually wants to look up the policies, and the lack of therefore by the howard gvt.. they just borrowed it, kept it going, and then , well, it rains gold! And they dare say otherwise....look it up people, if you cant beleive me..

  • A federal debt isn't actually a bad thing it helps sometimes. Also how did the Frazer government leave the Hawke government and John Howard was Treasurer then. The Howard government did nothing apart from ride on the structural reforms of Keating and take credit for it.

  • @nudenuts this guy also:

Floated the aussie dollar, privatised CBA and Qantas, removed tarifs on imports and eports, introduced Super.

    You're deluded :P

  • I love you Paul.

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again: Australia didn't deserve this man.

  • Why do i still think that this man is still our PM god Australia Politics Miss him..

  • I love Paul

  • He did more for australia as treasurer than howard and costello put together.

  • ha ha u bunch of labor love stroking wankers

  • @australianews thumbs/vote up..
