  • he did not say years he said centuries....yes sir I hear you!!

  • BEAUTIFUL!! On my job 98% of the over age 25 crowd of Black men are buffoons and coons. Makes me despise them and fear for the GENE POOL of Black men available for my female family members.

No wonder they all want to go to Spelman. Great job BROTHERS.

  • i am so overwhelmed! this is proof that black people have come far!

  • @ISayWhatWant walking upright now?

  • congradulations

  • Morehouse College should not be about cultivating men but cultivating only black men. Morehouse College should accept only black men to become its students.

Also, the Morehouse College faculty should be only black men.

Morehouse College should not be advertised or presented as a mens college but as The Black Man's College.

  • THIS. IS. SPARTAAAA!

  • The obama of the future!!

  • White people don't want to be nursers, farmers and mechanics. You seem to be another typical whitey with racial resentment issues. "Poindexter?" Who the hell uses "poindexter" anymore? Update your insults, moron.

  • LOL

  • You're an idiot.

  • Do you have to be fully black to join this college?

  • No.

  • no.

  • You don't have to be anything but a human. It was historically black. Lots of different people there.

  • I actually don't think this speech is as great as everyone is making it seem. It was pretty cliche and he seemed to be trying to force emotion.

  • Aw!!! The rhetoric!!!! But I must respect his speech and courage.

  • and ur mean..think twice before you speak you tard

  • The nigger's gonna be your President. White people like you are the most undeservedly self-righteous people on the entire planet. Astounding.

  • nice!!!! exactly the inspiration i need to start my valedictorian speech

  • holy shit this speech is good..

  • hi, he quoted towards the end "let no man dead... alive... unborn.. say he can do it better." any of u got who the quote was from? a benny nest or something.... pls help if u know. thanks.

  • The quote is: "Do whatever you do so well that no man living and no man yet unborn could do it better" by Dr. Benjamin Mays (Martin Luther King Jr's mentor).

  • i want to go to Morehouse sooooo bad it is the college that i want graduate from and in looking at him i see that that is my goal and i want to be up there giving a speech just as he. pray for me that i will be accpeted

  • No need for prayer, but hard work on your end.

  • Without God nothing happens! True enough we need to do out part but if we leave God out of the equation you'll hall hard.

  • @Brownfox1981 If you believe in God, that is.

  • If you don't believe in God than you're setting yourself up for failure

  • Albert Einstein didn't believe in God. I feel like people throw "God" around without thinking about what it really means to the world and others, not just yourself.

  • This speech is corny

  • maybe he craved cornbread at the time.

  • fuck you

  • Beautiful...Those who can.. rejoice. Those who have not prepared themselves "mock".

  • Wanker.

  • I agree, that guy is a little black biatch.

  • When he's your President, you'll be saying the same thing, from your minimum wage hick town. It'll be a great day.

  • LOL, this guy is such a tool.

  • actually he is not doing so bad..

check out the video Harvard Law Student Speaks at IB World Conferen...

  • You're right, FUCK WHITEY!

  • i want to transfer to morehouse so badly , i need to philosophize with powerful black minds

  • Well if that's what you want to do...than I say make it happen.

  • Absolutely.

  • good stuff

  • THAT WAS GREAT!!!!!

  • Beautiful!

    My Morehouse Brothers

  • ARE YOU SERIOUS OR JUST RETARDED?

  • Excellent speech! Sending love from a Spelman Sister, Class of 2008! =)

  • The guy @ 1.24-1.26, how black?

  • how black? I am confused by your comment.

  • I was just drawing attention to the success of colored folk. I am also a man of color, albeit a different shade. :)

  • gotcha!

  • are you a spelman babe?

  • nope

  • great speech. i am asian, and would love to attend morehouse.

  • LOL

  • Very impressive! I'll be looking for big things from that young man.

  • wen every one gradute does every one do this let me know or is it those who choose to give the speech

  • the sun is more than 10000 miles away. (jokes i dont care)

was well spoken. however in his attempt to come across confident, there are touches of arrogance.

that said, you need to take into account his audience and purpose of the speech. its celebrating their graduation. its allowed to come across over the top to youtube viewers who werent there.

you only need to look at the response he got to know it was effective. kudos to him!

  • very cool

  • nice 1 ilike the way he say

    this time!

  • wish i was in his shoes.

  • An outstanding speech. I wish the very best to the speaker and to the Morehouse Class of 2007.

  • A quintessential Morehouse man! Awesome!

  • It may not be important to you..but part of being an intellectual is the understanding that it may be very important to someone else...

  • wow, thanks for the low blow? being an intellectual is also being able to tolerate other points of view

  • I wasn't sending you a blow...

    1. being an intellectual is also being able to tolerate other points of view

    2. but part of being an intellectual is the understanding that it may be very important to someone else...

Points 1 and 2 are the same thing. So you responded to me by saying exactly what I said. I was telling you to tolerate someone else's point of view...was I not?

  • yes, i understand, but i am asking you to tolerate my view, which is what you weren't doing

i was not being intolerable towards his views; i was commenting about how it's as if he just ended WWII or created the cure for cancer

  • I just don't understand how you can step out side of your own view points and step inside of him and at least try to understand why he might be excited. I do believe he has that right. Do you know his family history, maybe he's the first one to graduate...you just have to take things into consideration before making rash judgments. It's called critical thinking. I am not being an asshole or intolerant...just creating a little insight.

  • Oh he has the right. I'm going to be the first in my family to graduate too. It may be exciting for him, but IN MY OPINION (how much can I stress this) I don't think it's a big deal.

  • I am just questioning you, it's evident you don't like to be questioned because it means you have to think about what you say. The only defense you have about is about tolerating view points.....that's unfounded and without merit as you can't prove I am not tolerating your view points. I am just questioning them out of intellectual curiosity...the only intolerant person is you for not understanding this mans excitement. My original point from the very beginning.

  • Actually, I don't understand why you have to make a big deal about it on a YouTube video comments board. It's a video, I commented on it, I gave my opinion. Period.

  • Actually, it was an intellectual discussion. I just like to question out of intellectual curoisity. I extract logic from comments that clearly lack it. Period.

  • Or you like to try to seem smart on a comments board. Which pretty much shows how sorry your life truly is. ;)

  • haha if that's what makes you feel good about yourself, then I would imagine that you are the one with a sorry life. Including insulting superior, college graduate, speeches... ;)

  • I actually do feel good about expressing my opinion.

  • I bet you feel awesome ... too bad expressing your opinion is different than putting someone down to boost low self esteem. Better luck next time.

  • Says the man who is trying to make me feel bad.

  • If thats what you call it. You just can't take criticism from a different intellect. The main point is that you failed to step in to someone else's shoes during his graduation speech, made a thoughtless comment, and you fail to admit it. It amuses me how long you're holding out. Although at 20 we're all a little arrogant with no validation.

  • Actually, you can. It's called being human. I am so sorry that I am not up to your 'intelligence.' I guess I am also sorry for sticking to my opinions and not turning tail when confronted by someone who needs to feed their immense ego.

And 5 years isn't that far away kiddo.

  • So now I'm egotistical for holding my own viewpoint? Egotistical for questioning your view point? Look who's getting defensive when I, myself, don't "turn tail". You, have held out defensively, on a scant, judgmental opinion of a graduation speech. The fact that you cannot admit it would fall under egotistical to say the least. Since we're 7 or 8 days into this discussion...if I'm feeding my ego, then you're feeding out of the same dish...

  • Aw, did I get your feathers ruffled?

It's ok. Go back to your expensive latte's and driving your Prius.

  • AMEN TO YOUR STATEMENT! LOL

  • JAJAJAJAJAJ dude i shouldnt be laughing about ur comment robzim but jajajja

  • @robzim LOL! Morehouse College is a Black school.

  • I am a whiteman, listening to this speach why would a blackmanever think himself inferior or down trodden.

  • Wow, excessive stereotyping going on in the preceeding 2 comments! I just don't understand why we fall back on outdated notions of "race" to categorise each other... there is no "black race," no "white race," and no "jewish race," there is only the human race.

Btw really inspiring speech, I really liked it! I'm valedictorian at my school this year, hope I'll be as inspiring as you were!

  • Congrats on being the Vale at your school. Hope the dream life you display here works for you in the real world. There is still massive racism that goes on in the world, not just in America. Keep working on bringing people together and never get discouraged.

  • ...and make no mistake about it, we will make history....

bet not a single person in the audience could have imagined that only 1 year later we would have a black Presidential Candidate.

Congrats from a white Republican. Your race has accomplished the most of any race in history even with all the objections of other races.

By the way... Republicans are the original group to bring up the freedom issues.

  • great speech. really inspiring.

  • Only 6,850 views?

This speech/video needs 20 million views, I think. Who can't say this was an awesome speech?

  • this is a great speech.

  • short sweet and to the point. carpe diem bruthas....all degree holding brothers of 07.

  • great speech, but why is the thingy on his hat already on his right?

  • he isn't arrogant

    he's being inspirational

  • TowhidM...have u sent in your application?

  • This is Morehouse College. It is not reserved for blacks. but it is the only historically black male college in the U.S. Its called historically black b/c until a few years ago blacks werent allowed to attend colleges with whites so colleges like these sprung up so blacks could have a place to go. There are people of all races going to this school. However it is around 95% black.

  • i see u darrell doin the damn thing... ill see u in DC this summer

  • great speech. bravo.

  • yeah thats not arrogrance Jherman if you knew his story you wouldn't be saying a damn thing so lets leave the negativity out of something you know nothing about nor will you ever....get at me

  • wow he's arrogant

  • It's more motivational than arrogant. After all that's how a lot of people move forward in life..with a "perceived" sense of self importance, or self entitlement but with no justification...

  • Yes, I know. Of course I was just joking. It's graduation speech, they all are somewhat pretentious.

  • that is a truly wonderful speech from monica

  • we love u lil darrell from christopher, maia, monica, aunt michele, and uncle chris

  • I love that powerful speech. From a Bennett Belle

  • dats my cousin
