  • Beautiful!

  • When he sings so lightly and naturally his voice is incredibly beatiful!! I don't like him when he pushes, trying to sound like a dramatic baritone.

  • THE BEST SONG FROM THE BEST SINGER!

  • This song is first time presented 1957 on World Youth Festivan in Moscow by Serbian singer, actor and composer Dushan Jakshich (Душан Јакшић-Dušan Jakšić) I always loved this song and it was a big surprise for me because I use to think that this is old Russian song:)

In RAI show "Napoli porto tutti" 1965 this song was in final with famous "O Sole Mio"

    Long live Russia and Serbia!

  • @Sandrininja

Sorry, but Serbian singer has nothing to do with creation of this song. The song was originally created as "Leningradskie Vechera" ("Leningrad Nights") by Russian composer Vasily Solovyov-Sedoi and poet Mikhail Matusovsky in 1955, but at the request of the Soviet Ministry of Culture, the version "Подмосковные вечера" (transliterated as "Podmoskovnye Vechera"; more or less "Evenings in Moscow Oblast") was prepared, with corresponding changes to the lyrics.

  • @Littlefox74 It must be misunderstanding..But this song appeared on Dusan Jaksic album in 1957 on Serbian language..Rest of his work have the same sensibility like this song..I can only say that word "first" in my previous post is maybe wrong-the rest is true. Sorry if I was wrong.

  • ПРЕКРАСНА И МУЗИКА И АРТИСТ!

  • My grandmother would sing this song to me many years ago when I was 2-3 years old. She's dead for over 55 years, but I still can hear the song in my heart. Thank you so much for posting such a beautiful remdition of a nasterpiece that goes beyond borders and politics.

  • What a voice! And what a handsome man! Totally irresistible.

  • totally got goosebumps. had to learn this song in school, some 30 years ago. still remember the lyrics but this version gives me goosebumps.

    beautiful Russian soul.

  • กรี๊ยยยยด

  • кто не был на его выступлении потерял пол жизни

когда он поет аж мурашки по телу бегут

  • СЛАВА РОСИИ!!

  • Very nice!

Only I don't like how he holds the last note for too long and I would like him to bring different sound colours to each strophe. And his baritone voice sounds too loud in those quiet Moscow nights (sorry...Dmitri is a very good singer). Thanks for uploading!

For a deep contrast would you be willing to hear Vitas' version? Follow the link (not mine):

  • un charme fou et une voix de velours . bravo Dima !

  • Why is the Union Jack on the backside of the music stand, pray tell?

  • because it's the last night of the BBC Proms, a couple of years ago

  • How can Russian singer be so fine,I love his voice and look.

  • Russian basses and bass-barytones have always been among the best in the world (along with the Finnish ones), for the last hundred years or so... But certainly this one belongs also to the most good-looking ones! :-)

  • I remember Martti Talvela, nice bass:)

  • Spasibo, Oncelostmain. Martti Talvela really was a great singer, too bad I've never heard his Boris Godunov - he loved Russian repertoire and Boris was one of his great roles. But I heard him performing in his last years "Songs and Dances of Death" by Musorgski and that music was truly impressive.

  • Fantastic singer.

  • I love the tone and depth of dmitri's voice... incredible...

  • Какой мужчина!!!! Мммммммм...

  • the best russian song ever

  • @velichkov10

I would say the best "Soviet" song ever

  • It must be a song for lovers, but I imagine...

A mother is dying at one silent night, surrounded by her family, saying farewell to them and thanking everything around her.

  • Your first guess is good: it is love song about the dusk at a summer night they spent together at the Moscow river...

  • It s very nice song .every time I heard it makes me happy and look the world with beautiful

  • BEAUTIFULL!

  • ESTE O MUZICA

    FRUMOASA

    O VOCE MINUNATA

  • looks like the man cryng while singing ...

  • I'm niether Russian nor have I ever been to Moscow. Yet I wholeheartedly agree with the lyrics:

...Если б знали вы, как мне дороги

    Подмосковные вечера!

  • woooooooooooooooow what a magnificent voice

  • Quelle voix magnifique que celle de Dimitri et j'aime cette chanson !

    Merci

    Jackylen57

  • Thanks for posting this great song,In my adolescence I heard this song on the radio waves in Central Moscow media, special program for listeners in Brazil

  • Why can he sing so well?

Every time I hear this,I shed tears.

I like this better than his another version in youtube.

  • makes me wona cry :)

  • Troshin would admit that Dmitry sang better

  • He expresses the Russia Soul so beautifully... What a joy to hear! Krasivaya Musika! Bravo!

  • man that dude got some real good pipes in him

  • You stole my number. BTW I love this song.

  • Thanks for posting this great song, which dates from the 1950s, if I'm not mistaken? It's best known to British audiences from the cover version by Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen, although this particular clip is from the Last Night of the Proms, the BBC's annual series of concerts staged in London's Royal Albert Hall. Hvorostovsky has a rich, deep, masculine bass voice, the likes of which we don't hear often enough: Western pop music is overrun by screeching girly-men and castrati!

  • Yes))

  • That was a long note at the end!!!!!!Amazing

  • lısten to me plase

  • hearing this I wanna go back to moscow.

  • Mon dieu, c'est magnifique! Bravo! Подмосковные Вечера is one of my favorite songs.

  • kakoy molodetz!! On gordost Rossiye!!

  • Poor you!

I hope you're proud of your parent's birthplace.

  • Pride is a dedly sin according to the Bible. So, if your think that there are many things about you to be proud of, then you should perhaps reconsider your perception of life and yourself. However, there is nothing wrong with being fond of the your birthplace!!

  • lol

  • Absolutely right! I´m a brazilian and it´s so moving that my sons are so endeared to their homeland, our homeland. Of course, Dmitri is a wonderful, a miracle! Thank you Russia for this unique singer!

  • Awesome

  • Como la musica une al mundo !!! gracias lindisima cancion

  • Magical

  • BRAVO!!!

  • CLOSE YOUR EYES AND LISTEN... AMAZING...

    LOVE YOU MY ABHI!!!

    Your russian :)

  • He sings SO good in this piece that I think nobody in this PLANET can sing better than he does!

  • Браво! Красиво ...

  • Otshen Krasivo ! shto mi mozhniem skazat ?

  • Beautiful

  • sorry, never heard of him...is he like the russian pavarotti?

  • I like the term "Russian Pavarotti" lol.

Well he is the Russian leading Baritone nowadays. He won 1989 Cardiff opera competition where Bryn Terfel was the "runner-up". He is known as singing Verdi and Russian songs/operas, especially for the role "Eugene Onegin" in Tchaikovsky's opera, ppl describe him as "born to sing that role".

  • Dmitri is so incredible...

  • BRILLIANT

  • great song! an I love this video because even if this event happens in england they sing in russian! now all those who said that the russian people is a barbaric people can see that it's not true

  • I get homesick for Russia every time I hear this song =(

  • Sooooo beautiful.....! Thanks Apomethe.

  • Gorgeous! Makes you homesick for those Moscow nights even if you've only known Ahoghill nights! If you'd like to hear another moving rendition of this lovely song, however, then search "Huliganov Moscow nights" and at the very end of the video is the song. You could even learn Russian with the amazing Huliganov and soon you'll be singing along with him and Dmitri, in impeccable Russian of course!

  • very good performance

  • NO HARD HAT NO HARD WORK!!

  • ¡Su voz bellísima, su interpretación extraordanaria! Gracias por este video.

  • I enjoyed this video because of the quality of the video and the lyrics viewed. The song is as beautiful as the music and he is an excellent singer. Great job!

  • That last note is heaven on earth!

  • ABSOLUTELY heaven on earth!! i'm fortunate to see him perform Nov. 4th in california.

i agree. very good video quality. thank you.

  • I'll see him too Nov. 14 in NY AND Nov. 16 in Miami :)I can't wait!

  • I wrote the words to Katusha on "Dmitri Hvorostovky sings Russian Songs" site. If you go there, you can have it.

  • What can I say,... WONDERFUL!!

  • Stunning! What a beautiful song and a great voice! Dmitri is full of life and love of music. You can see it all over his face and hear it in his singing!

    AWESOME!

  • adoro esta canción, la escuche en la ciudad de izhevsk y la estuve buscando por mucho tiempo hasta que encontre esta hermosa version

  • Does anyone know where I can get a good arrangement of the sheet music of this song? It is described as one of the most famous Russian songs outside of Russia, but I can't find it any where. I had the same problem with Dark Eyes. Ended up having to get an arranger to write me a good performance version. I was hoping this song would be easier.

  • I wondered if you did get a good arrangement of 'Moscow Nights'. I've been looking for it as well (for piano) and had no luck so far. If you have found a good score, would you mind letting me know where I can get it, too? I do have a very simple arrangement of it, possibly grade 1 piano, but it's a bit thin. Thank you, Stuart

  • Thank you for posting this video. It reminded me of my childhood. I used to listen to this song and sang this song in Vietnam.

  • me too - my dad used to listen to the Red Army Choir sing it... makes me cry!

  • cheesy arrangement and tempo, Red Army better

  • Te amo, Hvorostovsky!!!!

  • that was beautiful :)

  • I love this song. Thanks

  • U nevo prekrasniy golos I poyet on s takim tvorchestvom..

  • I've never listened a stronger voice. The greatest artists come from Russia who conserves her great culture. There's something about Russia.

  • I am just so moved by Hvorostovsky - his voice gets inside me like no other - so thrilling. I feel it's a kind of healing / therapy. I'm sure it's very good for me .

  • I can feel the passion. Bravo! 5 stars

  • If this isn't passion....what is passion,please,tell me?

    Beautiful...and nostalgic like himsilf.

  • BRAVO!
