This song is first time presented 1957 on World Youth Festivan in Moscow by Serbian singer, actor and composer Dushan Jakshich (Душан Јакшић-Dušan Jakšić) I always loved this song and it was a big surprise for me because I use to think that this is old Russian song:)
In RAI show "Napoli porto tutti" 1965 this song was in final with famous "O Sole Mio"
Sorry, but Serbian singer has nothing to do with creation of this song. The song was originally created as "Leningradskie Vechera" ("Leningrad Nights") by Russian composer Vasily Solovyov-Sedoi and poet Mikhail Matusovsky in 1955, but at the request of the Soviet Ministry of Culture, the version "Подмосковные вечера" (transliterated as "Podmoskovnye Vechera"; more or less "Evenings in Moscow Oblast") was prepared, with corresponding changes to the lyrics.
@Littlefox74 It must be misunderstanding..But this song appeared on Dusan Jaksic album in 1957 on Serbian language..Rest of his work have the same sensibility like this song..I can only say that word "first" in my previous post is maybe wrong-the rest is true. Sorry if I was wrong.
My grandmother would sing this song to me many years ago when I was 2-3 years old. She's dead for over 55 years, but I still can hear the song in my heart. Thank you so much for posting such a beautiful remdition of a nasterpiece that goes beyond borders and politics.
hi guys , i need some help i have been looking for some time for a version of this song Moscow Nights by Igor Krutoy, ad i want to know of any of you knows if this version exist if so where i can get it , let me know ASAP plss and thxs , ciaooo¡¡¡¡¡¡
Only I don't like how he holds the last note for too long and I would like him to bring different sound colours to each strophe. And his baritone voice sounds too loud in those quiet Moscow nights (sorry...Dmitri is a very good singer). Thanks for uploading!
For a deep contrast would you be willing to hear Vitas' version? Follow the link (not mine):
Bravo Dima " Spasiva" Felicitaciones , Eres de lo mejor en el mundo , Junto a Placido Domingo , Carrera , Andrea Boccelli, Mario Lanza , Carusso. Dasidania
Russian basses and bass-barytones have always been among the best in the world (along with the Finnish ones), for the last hundred years or so... But certainly this one belongs also to the most good-looking ones! :-)
Spasibo, Oncelostmain. Martti Talvela really was a great singer, too bad I've never heard his Boris Godunov - he loved Russian repertoire and Boris was one of his great roles. But I heard him performing in his last years "Songs and Dances of Death" by Musorgski and that music was truly impressive.

Thanks for posting this great song,In my adolescence I heard this song on the radio waves in Central Moscow media, special program for listeners in Brazil
Thanks for posting this great song, which dates from the 1950s, if I'm not mistaken? It's best known to British audiences from the cover version by Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen, although this particular clip is from the Last Night of the Proms, the BBC's annual series of concerts staged in London's Royal Albert Hall. Hvorostovsky has a rich, deep, masculine bass voice, the likes of which we don't hear often enough: Western pop music is overrun by screeching girly-men and castrati!
Mi padre solía dormirme en los años sesenta con esta canción. El estudiaba de noche y trabajaba de día y por las madrugadas cuando yo me despertaba llorando(entonces era un bebé), él me cargaba y se paseaba cantándome esta hermosísima canción.
Pride is a dedly sin according to the Bible. So, if your think that there are many things about you to be proud of, then you should perhaps reconsider your perception of life and yourself. However, there is nothing wrong with being fond of the your birthplace!!
Absolutely right! I´m a brazilian and it´s so moving that my sons are so endeared to their homeland, our homeland. Of course, Dmitri is a wonderful, a miracle! Thank you Russia for this unique singer!
Well he is the Russian leading Baritone nowadays. He won 1989 Cardiff opera competition where Bryn Terfel was the "runner-up". He is known as singing Verdi and Russian songs/operas, especially for the role "Eugene Onegin" in Tchaikovsky's opera, ppl describe him as "born to sing that role".
great song! an I love this video because even if this event happens in england they sing in russian! now all those who said that the russian people is a barbaric people can see that it's not true
Gorgeous! Makes you homesick for those Moscow nights even if you've only known Ahoghill nights! If you'd like to hear another moving rendition of this lovely song, however, then search "Huliganov Moscow nights" and at the very end of the video is the song. You could even learn Russian with the amazing Huliganov and soon you'll be singing along with him and Dmitri, in impeccable Russian of course!
I enjoyed this video because of the quality of the video and the lyrics viewed. The song is as beautiful as the music and he is an excellent singer. Great job!
Stunning! What a beautiful song and a great voice! Dmitri is full of life and love of music. You can see it all over his face and hear it in his singing!

I wondered if you did get a good arrangement of 'Moscow Nights'. I've been looking for it as well (for piano) and had no luck so far. If you have found a good score, would you mind letting me know where I can get it, too? I do have a very simple arrangement of it, possibly grade 1 piano, but it's a bit thin. Thank you, Stuart

When he sings so lightly and naturally his voice is incredibly beatiful!! I don't like him when he pushes, trying to sound like a dramatic baritone.
