  • Saw them live in Dublin [Dun laoghaire] in 73 , i was 15 and thought they were top flight. The venue was a place called the pavillion now demolished . Ah them memories .

  • sound tune!

  • Dat riff

  • saw them near mount melleray in 1977, when i was 15, with lots of boy scouts, who were mistreated from elder ones and always must wear short trousers in the cold and moisty irish evenings. i am not irish and not catholic, so this was a somewhat strange feeling there.

i didn´t like this kind of music, because it was too much straight rock and not enough folk for me in these times. but i was stoned abot this song. and so it is today.

  • dearg Doom = Cuchulainn, Ulster's champion

  • @joruneah

yeah im convinced thats pretty much what he is supposed to be.

or a mishmash of various celtic hero figures that are a tad crazy.

  • sorry dearg is red in irish

  • @HarryPotterFan968 Well 'Doom' isn't an Irish word. Devil is 'fear dubhf or fdibheal' (there's probably a few other words for it as well)

  • @DubDubh : dearg doom..or dum (with a fada) means red destroyer..well..thats what my irish teacher said!

  • @amenatsuhasujinseii Thats what Eamon Carr said too!

  • does dearg doom mean the red devil because dearg is devil in irish so...

  • Its kinda pathetic, how U2 can be called best Irish band... Ireland is a homeland for such great artist like Horslips, Thin Lizzy or (especially) Rory Gallagher. U2 are nowhere compared to these...

  • @Kondzio717 I agree full heartily

  • lol emm u do know in the under pressure song they used this song from the horslips lol ?

  • @ungelbertpendo do you have a link to the original?

  • @ungelbertpendo

Isn’t this the “original”? Sounds like it to me.

(I’m in Atlanta, and it finally dawned on me why jigs, if you will pardon the pun/slur, find it so “insulting” to start on someone mother. They don’t know who their father is.

Father’s Day: The definition of mass confusion here. Hence the taunt. “Who’s your daddy”.)

  • "Put em under pressure" oh ah

  • ole ole ole

  • why does this song not have more views... same for 'Trouble'
