  • i sold my gtx260 oc2 for 50 dollars of heroin:(

  • xD ez nem diavetítés? :D

  • I have an HD5770 1GB OC'd to 1.1Ghz Core and 1.4Ghz Mem (5.6Ghz QDR) and it wipes the floor with the GTX260 216. All that on stock cooling on the core and Enzotech RAMsinks on the VRAM. Nothing on the VRMs.

  • rage xl/128 were came up at the same time when voodoo 2 was around, so yeah if voodoo 2 cant run 3dmark01 than it wouldnt be surprise that rage xl would run this crappy...

  • i used to have a tecra 8000 built in rage

  • this card was awesome back in itsd day

  • My uncle built a computer and it was meant to be fucking fast. It has 2gigs of RAM and it is a P4 2.0GHz

I tried to play warcraft and it hella sucked, was it because i had this graphics card? sry im not very good with this stuff lol

  • @jayrflare yes it is.

  • I'ma try this on my P-III 1ghz with ATI Rage pro VR 8mb. It mite get better results. O':

  • You can hope! :D

I'm not sure about this. I don't know that XL is slower, or faster

then pro, but in the early ages, pro meant "before".

  • Okie. =P

  • @SylverRaptor it works alright but I'm now upgrading so I can play my games, =P Getting a Radeon 9200 (waiting for it to get here in the mail lol)

  • LOL good luck, but youo might have asked for a Radeon 9250 instead. Its better, faster, stronger. :'D

    I have a Radeon 9600XT, just to know. ;P

  • why cant you guys just get new rig instead of looking for upgrade agp card......my geforce 9600gt will sure murder any of the card above, not to mention gtx 260 216 :)

  • yeah, and you are using an nvidia sh*t:)

when I can upgrade, it will be an HD5xxx. ;)

    so get lost :D

  • lol fanboi strike XD

anyway i got my gtx 260 216 for 180 usd in newegg, for the same price range i dont think 4770/4830/4850/5750/5770 can beat 260. 4870/4890/5830/5850 maybe but it's too expansive at the moment. so price for the win :)

  • Yes of course... an nvidia-lover saying that I'm a fanboy. What a gigantic LOL!

You know, you're maybe right. HD 5000 is still a bit expensive. But you can buy cheap ATi that will just simply be faster than that card you mentioned from nvidia.

And what are you talking about??? 5770 CAN BEAT IT! And I think 5750 too! And it is under 200$.

  • 5770 are abit slower than gtx 260 216 but more expansive, and a 5750 will be just blew away when compare to the price that is similar to gtx 260 but much weaker in performance(5750 still having trouble to bring down 9800gt...) just look at anand bench or tom's hardware for the answer....

  • But if you so love nvidia, just support them. I can't count how many times they ruined all hope for PC gamers, but just support them! If you don't, ATi cards would be expensive!

  • well i'm not a blindy fanboism like these nvidiots do. i am only aim on pricing and c/p. the reason i chose gtx 260 216 was because it was way cheaper than 5770/4870/4850 who is still above 200 usd while they are weaker than gtx 260 and i'm not support either of campaign just because of like their product. i have ati/amd's gfx in the past (x850xt pe, x800pro, 9800 pro, 9500 pro, 8500se)when they offered the same c/p as nvidia did today. not for long they start made crappy card after x1800.

  • @SylverRaptor True True.

ATI is once again pwning nvidia with their new HD 5XXX series so hard to man, I mean seriously not even nvidia's top of the line Geforce 4XX can compete with so much as ATI's low end HTPC cards...and the HTPC cards arn't even MADE FOR GAMING! lol

  • actually they din't pwn nvidia as most of bench leadership are taken by gtx 480. it was just the yield issue and heat/power consumption that matter the sell. and HTPC card like hd 5570 and 5550 ain't mean for gaming as their performance are even weaker than its own predecessor 4670 and rival 9600gt. hd 5xxx is just successful line amd ever produce. not the most powerful GPU.

  • @hanrinch Actually the ATI Radeon HD 5+ series is killing nvidia just like the R300/R350 did to the Geforce FX series.

Go cry now you little Fanboy.

  • you can't ignore the fact GTX 480 has performance lead over 5870. unlike 9800xt/9700pro that crush fx line 5870 only leading on power consumption and lower cost/better yield. it won't be like r350/r300 and it was not enough to crush GTX 4xx and lack support of tessellation.

    also you are been fanboy.

  • @hanrinch Performance lead? You mean the fact that it can catch your computer on fire because the lack of power control?

  • if you have bad psu, or bad air flaw then it's possible it will overheat/cause electronic leakage which may cause fire.

but i doubt these gtx 480 owner will get cheap 350watt psu on their rig...

  • @hanrinch Actually more like spend 25$ on a shitty 530watt PSU on ebay. LOL

The GTX 480 and the rest of the GTX 4XX series can neither compete the the HD 5XXX series nor do they have proper power protection and limitation's among other things that means even if your PSU says "This many watts" If it feels thursty it might just suck up EVERYTHING burning out the power supply and catching it on fire in the process.

  • you wont get suck up all the power if the psu is 1200watt or above with 80+ rating. good expansive psu + gtx 480 > average no rating 850watt psu + hd 5870. of cause you will argue about the cost of psu but hey...this is high end gaming and why do you push a 500w psu with an high end card?

  • That is why the 4XX series overclocks so well because Nvidia removed things like that thinking about "Speed" rather than quality and reliability.

on another note I spoke to a guy once who had a GTX 470 and he couldn't even get new games to run very fast if at all, and then one day when he finally did the card somehow combusted into flames it turns out the reason the games wouldn't play is because the motherboard was getting no power AT ALL that means sorry CPU GPU need's it more than you. DURRR

  • your friend must have a crappy psu.....

  • @hanrinch Actually it was name brand Antec it came with a pre-cut out gaming rig (Fan style...Silent though maximum speed got about 24dbs so not very loud at all even with the fucking 12inch fan on the top (I'm not use to mm so I measure things in inches..) and like 4 fucking 3: 2 inch fans one to keep the back of the mobo cool the other to blow hot air into the side another to blow it in through the bottom, and then 2 5 inch fans in the back sucking air out. XD

  • antec also have several different product line. from high end HCG/quattro to low end CP/basiq which do you prefer? so far i know pre built sytem never have better psu even come with reputable brand don't necessary gauntness the quality and lifespan. that is the reason why most gamer would avoid any dell/hp/gateway solution.....for example an core i7 980x alienware that comes with a cooler master elite 400watt??? my ass...............

  • Oh FYI I'm running an old Gate way (modded...sort of.) with a nice Fan with blue L.E.D. lights, I added 2 extra 128mb ram sticks totalling it from 256mb to 512mb and installed a better ethernet card, my old sound card (The one with it died, and my new one mysterously stopped working..."I miss it to it was 20bucks and was simple to set up surround with....Like Ghetto surround One stereo in front one stereo in the back...xD) and a Geforce FX 5800 MSI 128mb. (Had a 5950...not half as good as NV30)

  • is that your current rig? and fx 5800 ultra is indeed garbage, small rops(4rops) little shader and only 128bit bus.....asus even come up with 64bit bus version.....while the spec already horrible it even come with heat and cooler is so freaking noisy......what the good old day...except fermi wasn't doing as bad as its ancestor...

  • @hanrinch Actually the one from MSI isn't loud, the only time it get's even a little high pitched is on start up, but you do know they make custom coolers right? Could snap on a Iceberq 6 if I wanted but I have no need since my 2 case fans keep it cooler then a block of ice (Metaphorically speaking.)

Also despite the drop in it's bus size it beat the 5950, that thing actually emulated shit making the CPU go to 100% (99% of the time!) the 5800 gets me 60/70FPS in HL2 whilst the 5950 got 16FPS.

  • well fx 5800 ultra was hot already while performance was so poor that is no need to customize the cooler...they should had jump to 6800 ultra instead of improve these garbage...but i surprise that your fx 5800 can run half-life 2 at 60fps....was it under dx8.1?i would doubt that 60fps is under dx9....

and 5950...it has the worst driver support in NV history that force nV quickly drop it and introduced nv40(6800ulta)

  • @hanrinch Correction DX8.0 (nvidia only had support for PS1.1/1.3 and VS1.1 so it's only natural the legacy hardware uses PS1.1/1.3 and VS1.1) Anyways it performs better then the FX5900XT and 5950Ultra even if I crank it up to DX9 it still gets a nice steady 35/40FPS surprisingly. o: I mean I'm shocked dude.

oh FYI it's an original not a "Remake" man different companies didn't always use the Reference cooler. ;3 Similar to the one PNY used on the 5900 but a little bigger (Not humongous though)

  • Errr correction the one PNY used on the 5900SE ._.

But bigger and covering more of the "Card" also the heatsinks are smaller but cover more surface area and in my system even in 100% utilization don't so much as get warm let alone "Hot" to the touch. lol

  • @hanrinch

be told fanboy, im not bothered about ati or nvidia, if it hammers games be happy!!

  • wow...that was a post from 6 months ago , anyway i like the physx based game and i have no choice but go with nvidia. plus i got my card cheaper than ati back to the day. 9600gt only for $159 in 2008, 9800gt for $131 in late november 2009. gts 250 for $150 at the same time when bought 9800gt. gtx 260 216 for $180 in this january. what about ati? their pricing are like stick with glue/concrete. hd 5000 series released made current hd 4xxx even expansive than before while 5xxx cost even higher.

  • @hanrinch

96gt's were great value over anything ati had at the time, i had one. now im back to my hd 2900xt as the 96 died. i flick between either nvidia and ati as i like both, yes i preffer ati but i like any as iv used various diff cards over the years. both have had driver flaws at certain times. just dont be a fan boy for one company, same with intel vs amd cpu's. amd always makes a come back and best value.

  • still, even today we couldn't get any replacement for 9600gt as gt/220/gt240/5670/5570 like shit and 5750/5770/4850 are still expansive as hell while gts 250/9800gt consume a lot of power which aint suitable to be 96gt successor. but you're right, either of company will make a come back with great value and pricing. like athlon k7/core 2 duo and ati 9700pro/g6xxxx back to the day. however i dont think amd will make a decent come back...in reality i dont see they will...

  • @hanrinch

give amd a year or 2, they will come up with somthing, remember the athlon64 destroyed p4's back then and it will happen again even tho there future in cpu looks dull. i always get gcards s/hand, cheaper, this 2900xt is the only brand new card iv ever had other than an fx5200.

  • amd already destroy p4 line with its polomino/thoroughbred/barton line not to mention netburst was already a failure back to the day. it took more than 5 years for intel to make back to the top once again what makes you think amd will make come back in 2 years if they haven't switch architecture that been used since 1999? and yeah athlon 64(k8) is just an athlon xp with x64 instruction/hyper transport w/ memory controller that's all. wasn't really a big change. it was k7 made them on the top.

  • Lots of:NO hardware support....skipping test! Your video card is brave. At least she took the test.

  • yeah my voodoo2 sli wouldnt take that no matter how hard the setting been tweak

  • i had an ati xpert 2000(rage 128 ultra 32 mb)

  • i wouldnt mind having one for my other screens, just pick two up throw it in, this way i have my 8800 for my primary and then have these for my left and right screen, right now im only running one screen cause my old card fried

  • So,if you can run this on a 8MB AtiRage, does that mean I can run Planeshift Online on 16MB Ati Rage Ultra?

  • No. Planeshift's minimum is Radeon or GeForce class.

  • The Macs at my old school have these. Except for the new ones, those have 256mb Radeon 2600s or something.

  • I came across a ATi Rage Turbo the other day, even worse than this man

  • lol my integrated graphics card plays better than that. dude you should try and play the crysis demo. that would be awesome lol.

  • I think it would be the first PC to experience 0.001 fps.

  • well... i know my desktop can run it (my current gaming rig that's pushing 4 years old now...sucked to begin with) but i have my doubts about my laptop, lol. it too is an ancient p.o.s. (650 mhz p3 w/ 128 mb ram and ATI Rage pro video card with 8 mb ram)

  • Mine can't (100MHz w/ 32MB RAM and a GPU that can just handle Simpsons Cartoon Studio).

  • what games do you tryed?

with this card you have to forget about Max Payne

and newer games, cause it's a very OLD card.

  • i HATE this videocard my old one got with problems and we could fix it without paying for the video card and they gave me 3d rage lt pro i can play anything with it, NOTHING!!!!!!! im so mad at this i just want to f my pc off and buy a new one
