They don't pay to have the oil taken away to a landfill... Landfills in the US don't want it and won't take it. They either pay or get it taken away for free and the WVO renderer uses it to make dog and cat food, women's makeup and they also spray it on cattle feed.
Most of Canada still disposes the oil in landfills and are usually required to pay to have it taken away. Although it's slowly changing as bio-diesel becomes more popular.

Yeah true in the US.
