I love everything she does, and this is one of the best! For those of you who haven't sat down and listened to the whole "Night Ride Home" album, you are in for a treat!
I live in Saskatoon, just 4 blocks from the Broadway Bridge spoken of in the song. About 8 blocks from her old highschool. Can you tell I love her alot, bragging like this. Our population includes about 30% native people. Her freind "Cherokee" Louise was obviously treated with racisim back then. That problem is getting better all the time. Actually all the Natives are Cree and Blackfoot. Cherokees are from South. USA. Anyway, another great song. A favorite of mine.
@friday61 Hi Friday, I don't know what language you are translating it into but I imagine it is challenging. It's so poetic, (like all her songs) and uses alot of colloquial language. "Tounges are waggin' over fences, waggin' over phones". I speak french, if that's a help!
I adore this song..Thank you for posting it..Thank you Joni Mitchell and musicians for all the years of telling the stories of our lives...a very real blessing..
i love this song

I'm bursting with joy to just find out that Karen Peris of The Innocence Mission sang backup on this song.

@rennzzo ...please ask FuMoNoSmoke for "comprimary voice" (?)

Wayne shorter soprano sax is an indispensable unique comprimary voice. Two genius in a great song.
